The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of one abrasive cleaner, one non-abrasive cleaner and one non-abrasive alcohol-based cleaner on the lens parameter stability of the NOVALENS. Twenty-four lenses, all NOVALENS material of identical design, were cleaned 100 times each. Eight lenses were cleaned with MiraFlow (CIBA Vision), eight lenses with Optic-Free Daily Cleaner and eight lenses with the Gas Permeable Daily Cleaner (PBH). The base curve radius, center thickness and power were verified immediately before, immediately after and (per manufacturer's recommendation) 4 hours after cleaning at baseline, 25, 50, 75 and 100 cleanings. Lens toricity of approximately 0.50D was found with all three cleaners after 100 cleanings. No change in lens power or center thickness was found. It was concluded that extreme care must be taken in handling the NOVALENS due to the potential of induced warpage.  相似文献

A series of placebo powders for inhalation was characterized regarding bulk density and powder flowability using different techniques. The powders were of the ordered mixture type and were prepared by mixing a pharmaceutical carrier grade of lactose with different fractions of intermediate sized and fine (i.e., micronized) lactose. A modified Hausner Ratio was obtained by measurement of the poured and the compressed bulk densities. Other tests investigated were the angle of repose, the avalanching behaviour using the AeroFlow, and the yield strength using the Uniaxial tester. Furthermore, the relation between ordered mixture composition and flowability was examined.Of the methods investigated, the modified Hausner Ratio discriminates well between the investigated powders and seems to have the widest measuring range. It was also found that the poured and compressed bulk densities provide information about the packing of the particles in the powders. A good correlation was obtained between the modified Hausner Ratio and the angle of repose. The AeroFlow was suitable for powders with a low percentage of fine particles, but could not discriminate between the more cohesive powders. The Uniaxial tester, on the other hand, seems to be better suited for more cohesive powders.Regarding the powder composition, addition of micronized particles has a strong influence on the flowability of ordered mixtures, while intermediate sized particles have little impact on the powder flow.  相似文献

Poroelastic models arise in reservoir modeling and many other important applications. Under certain assumptions, they involve a time-dependent coupled system consisting of Navier–Lamé equations for the displacements, Darcy’s flow equation for the fluid velocity and a divergence constraint equation. Stability for infinite time of the continuous problem and, second and third order accurate, time discretized equations are shown. Methods to handle the lack of regularity at initial times are discussed and illustrated numerically. After discretization, at each time step this leads to a block matrix system in saddle point form. Mixed space discretization methods and a regularization method to stabilize the system and avoid locking in the pressure variable are presented. A certain block matrix preconditioner is shown to cluster the eigenvalues of the preconditioned matrix about the unit value but needs inner iterations for certain matrix blocks. The strong clustering leads to very few outer iterations. Various approaches to construct preconditioners are presented and compared. The sensitivity of the number of outer iterations to the stopping accuracy of the inner iterations is illustrated numerically.  相似文献

Whole body saline-perfused rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was ice-stored for 4 weeks and compared with unwashed/washed minces from unbled and bled trout in terms of rancid odour, peroxide value (PV), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and redness loss. Muscle from saline-perfused fish, which had 72% less total haem, was deficient in rancid odour during the whole storage, while bled (54% less haem) and unbled samples developed rancid odour already after ~4 and 2 days; higher intensity without bleeding. PV/TBARS also developed in the order unbled > bled > perfused samples; however, PV/TBARS were not as completely prevented as rancid odour after perfusion. Saline washing (3 × 3 volumes) of unbled mince removed 84% haem and yielded the second most stable sample while saline washing (1 × 1 volumes) destabilised unbled mince, despite 64% haem removal. Concurrent antioxidant removal during washing of minces obviously counteracted the effect of blood removal and washing fish mince with small volumes of solution should be used with great care.  相似文献

A test bench for investigating the polarization of nonlinear dielectrics under the action of the leading edges of high-voltage pulses is described. The design of the bench ensures investigations of pulsed polarization of ferroelectrics under a monotonic increase in the electric-field strength within time intervals from tens of nanoseconds to tens of milliseconds at voltages ranging from several hundred volts to tens of kilovolts. In accordance with the technique described, experimental dependences of the electric induction, dielectric permittivity, and differential dielectric permittivity on the pulsed electric-field strength at various temperatures of ferroelectric ceramics on the basis of solid solutions of barium and strontium titanates have been obtained.  相似文献

Foodborne illness continues as a considerable threat to public health. Despite improved hygiene management systems and increased regulation, pathogenic bacteria still contaminate food, causing sporadic cases of illness and disease outbreaks worldwide. For many centuries, microbial antagonism has been used in food processing to improve food safety. An understanding of the mode of action of this microbial antagonism has been gained in recent years and potential applications in food and feed safety are now being explored. This review focuses on the potential opportunities presented, and the limitations, of using microbial antagonism as a biocontrol mechanism to reduce contamination along the food chain; including animal feed as its first link. © 2014 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The standard implementations of iterative solvers for finite element and finite difference methods frequently use a diagonal (Jacobi) preconditioner, particularly for element-by-element schemes. However, for such methods the actual order of the condition number with respect to mesh size is not reduced by the preconditioner. In the present paper we describe an iterative method where, in addition, the condition number is reduced by an order of magnitude. Moreover, the scheme may also be implemented as an element-by-element method. The method uses a generalized SSOR preconditioner and a wave front or multi-frontal ordering of the mesh nodes. For a general irregular finite element mesh a striped irregular wave front ordering may be used. The performance of the method as well as various iterative acceleration techniques for a parallel computer are examined in the numerical studies.  相似文献

Hot water resources were discovered in 1970 at a fairly shallow depth below the city of Beijing. The total areal extent of the geothermal field is presently estimated at more than 100 km2. The two known thermal aquifers are composed of fractured dolomites and the temperature of the aquifers ranges from 53 to 80°C. Based on the production-drawdown history of the Beijing geothermal field, for the period 1971–1981, the unit step response of the reservoir is obtained. Parameters of a simple lumped two-capacitor model, matched with the unit step response, furnish some information on dimensions and overall potential of the Beijing reservoir.  相似文献

In this study we show for the first time that lead poisoning from ammunition is a significant mortality factor for white-tailed sea eagle (WSE) (Haliaeetus albicilla) in Sweden. We analyzed 118 WSEs collected between 1981 and 2004 from which both liver and kidney samples could be taken. A total of 22% of all eagles examined had elevated (> 6 µg/g d.w.) lead concentrations, indicating exposure to leaded ammunition, and 14% of the individuals had either liver or kidney lead concentrations diagnostic of lethal lead poisoning (> 20 µg/g d.w.). Lead concentrations in liver and kidney were significantly correlated. In individuals with lead levels < 6 µg/g, concentrations were significantly higher in kidney than in liver; in individuals with lead levels > 20 µg/g, concentrations were significantly higher in liver. The lead isotope ratios indicate that the source of lead in individuals with lethal concentrations is different from that of individuals exhibiting background concentrations of lead (< 6 µg/g d.w.) There were no significant sex or age differences in lead concentrations. A study from the Baltic reported in principle no biomagnification of lead, but background lead concentrations in WSE liver in this study were still four to > 10 times higher than concentrations reported for Baltic fish from the same time period. In contrast to other biota there was no decrease in lead concentrations in WSE over the study period. The proportion of lead poisoned WSE remained unchanged over the study period, including two years after a partial ban of lead shot was enforced in 2002 for shallow wetlands. The use of lead in ammunition poses a threat to all raptors potentially feeding on shot game or offal. The removal of offal from shot game and alternatives to leaded ammunition needs to be implemented in order to prevent mortality from lead in raptors and scavengers.  相似文献
