Effect of thiourea on corrosion resistance of aluminum in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution is experimentally investigated. Results show that the addition of thiourea inhibits the sulfuric acid corrosion of aluminum. The inhibition efficiency can be enhanced with an increase in thiourea concentration. It is found that Rp values increases and C dl values decreases with increasing inhibitor concentration. The inhibition happens through adsorption of thiourea on the metal surface without modifying the mechanism of corrosion process. Inhibition efficiency obtained from all methods is in good agreement. The adsorption of inhibitor on aluminum surface from 0.5 M H2SO4 acid solution obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

This research evaluates the effects of PLA/PP blend ratio and Lyocell/hemp mixture ratio on the morphology, water absorption, mechanical and thermal properties of PLA‐based composites. The composites were fabricated with 30 mass % hemp using compression moulding. As a reference composites made from PP were also studied. Combining of hemp and Lyocell in PLA composite leads to the reduction of moisture absorption and can improve the impact, tensile, flexural properties when compared with PLA/hemp. Composite based on the PLA/PP blend‐matrix could not improve the tensile and flexural properties compared with PLA/hemp, however; the lighter composite with better impact properties was obtained. The crystallization temperature of the PLA‐PP/hemp increased compared with pure PLA. This result was also confirmed by the SEM micrographs. The moisture absorption of PLA‐PP/hemp was higher than PLA/hemp. Based on theoretical analysis of DMTA data, there was favorable adhesion in all composites. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Morphological, melt rheological and dynamic mechanical properties of low-density polyethylene (LDPE)/ethylene–octene copolymer (POE)/organo-montmorillonite (OMMT) nanocomposites, prepared via melt compounding were studied. The XRD traces indicated different levels of intercalated structures for the nanocomposites. Addition of a compatibilizer (PE-g-MA) improved the intercalation process. TEM results revealed existence of clay layers in both phases but they were mainly localized in the elastomeric POE phase. Addition of 5 wt% OMMT to the LDPE/POE blend led to reduction in the size of the elastomer particles confirmed by AFM. The complex viscosity and storage modulus showed little effect of the presence of the clay when no compatibilizer was added. As the extent of exfoliation increased with addition of compatibilizer, the linear viscoelastic behavior of the composites gradually changed specially at low-frequency regions. The interfacially compatibilized nanocomposites with 5 wt% OMMT had the highest melt viscosity and modulus among all the studied nanocomposites and blends. Also, this particular composition showed the best improvement in dynamic storage modulus. The results indicated that clay dispersion and interfacial adhesion, and consequently different properties of LDPE/POE/clay nanocomposites, are greatly affected by addition of compatibilizer.  相似文献

The effect of thiourea on electrochemical corrosion behavior of mild steel was investigated in 0.5M HCl solution at room temperature by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (AC Impedance) and Tafel polarization (DC Polarization) methods. The results show that thiourea act as mixed type inhibitor. The inhibition efficiency obtained from AC Impedance and DC polarization methods are in good agreement. The Nyquist plots show that the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 0.5M HCl solution in the absence and in the presence of thiourea, consist a simple capacitive loop. Changes in impedance parameters (Rct and Cdl) are indicative of adsorption of thiourea on the metal surface, leading to the formation of protective film. Thiourea is found to adsorb on mild steel surface steel in 0.5M HCl solution, according to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.  相似文献

In the present study the thermodynamics of aluminium in molten Zn‐Al was determined at the temperatures 470, 490 and 520°C with the use of electrochemical sensors. Cell and sensor techniques were used. The following concentration cell was used: Al (pure reference) |Al3+ (in fused salt) | [Al]in zinc. It was found that the activity of aluminium shows positive deviation from Raoult's law. The partial heat of solution of aluminium at temperatures between 470 and 520°C for XAl = 0.004 was determined as = 21882 J. The dilute solution of aluminium in zinc in the range of 0≤XAl≤0.044 obeys Henry's law. The Wagner's first order interaction coefficient eAlAl was determined.  相似文献
