Soft tissue defects are common following trauma and tumor extirpation. These injuries can result in poor functional recovery and lead to a diminished quality of life. The healing of skin and muscle is a complex process that, at present, leads to incomplete recovery and scarring. Regenerative medicine may offer the opportunity to improve the healing process and functional outcomes. Barriers to regenerative strategies have included cost, regulatory hurdles, and the need for cell-based therapies. In recent years, exosomes, or extracellular vesicles, have gained tremendous attention in the field of soft tissue repair and regeneration. These nanosized extracellular particles (30–140 nm) can break the cellular boundaries, as well as facilitate intracellular signal delivery in various regenerative physiologic and pathologic processes. Existing studies have established the potential of exosomes in regenerating tendons, skeletal muscles, and peripheral nerves through different mechanisms, including promoting myogenesis, increasing tenocyte differentiation and enhancing neurite outgrowth, and the proliferation of Schwann cells. These exosomes can be stored for immediate use in the operating room, and can be produced cost efficiently. In this article, we critically review the current advances of exosomes in soft tissue (tendons, skeletal muscles, and peripheral nerves) healing. Additionally, new directions for clinical applications in the future will be discussed.  相似文献

For the decreasing and consistently low performance/decreasing and consistently low satisfaction group, there were 14 teams and 40 statements; for the decreasing and consistently low performance/increasing and consistently high satisfaction group, there were 11 teams and 46 statements.] This article explores the linkages between strategies for managing different types of conflict and group performance and satisfaction. Results from a qualitative study of 57 autonomous teams suggest that groups that improve or maintain top performance over time share 3 conflict resolution tendencies: (a) focusing on the content of interpersonal interactions rather than delivery style, (b) explicitly discussing reasons behind any decisions reached in accepting and distributing work assignments, and (c) assigning work to members who have the relevant task expertise rather than assigning by other common means such as volunteering, default, or convenience. The authors' results also suggest that teams that are successful over time are likely to be both proactive in anticipating the need for conflict resolution and pluralistic in developing conflict resolution strategies that apply to all group members. This paper describes an approach for handling intermittent connectivity between mobile clients and networkresident applications, which we call zippering. When the client connects with the application, communication between the client and the application is synchronous. When the client intermittently connects with the application, communication becomes asynchronous. The DIANA (DeviceIndependent, Asynchronous Network Access) approach allows the client to perform a variety of operations while disconnected. Finally, when the client reconnects with the application, the operations performed independently on the client are replayed to the application in the order they were originally done. Zippering allows the user at the client to fix errors detected during reconciliation and continues the transaction gracefully instead of aborting the whole transaction when errors are detected.  相似文献

In the present investigation a novel design algorithm is proposed for evaporative fluid coolers (EFCs) and closed circuit cooling towers. The principal of this study is to derive a relationship among heat transfer coefficients, pressure drops, heat transfer area, and mass transfer coefficient. Using maximum allowable pressure drops in this algorithm leads to minimize the required heat transfer area and a straight forward performance appraisal of EFC can be observed. It is revealed that the novel design algorithm can successfully predicts the design outputs given by the other researchers. In addition, the new algorithm is easily adaptable when heat transfer enhancement devices applied inside or outside of the tube bundle of EFCs.  相似文献

In this paper, the bending modulus of a multi-layered graphene sheet is investigated using a geometrically based analytical approach. For this purpose, a bending potential energy is derived, based on the van der Waals interactions of atoms belonging to the two neighboring sheets of a double-layered graphene sheet. The inter-atomic spacing between the adjacent layers is determined along the line of action of the applied bending moments. The bending potential of the double-layered sheet is calculated by summing up the potentials at discrete hexagons over the length and width of the sheet. A multi-layered graphene sheet is considered as consisting of many stacking double-layers. It is observed that the bending modulus of a multi-layered graphene sheet does not depend on the length of the sheet and is a property for the multi-layered sheet.  相似文献

In this paper, nanoscale modeling of a multi-shell fullerene embedded in an elastic medium and its application to vibrational analysis is investigated. The spherical layers of the multi-shell fullerene are concentrically nested, with carbon-carbon van der Waals interactions between them. Also, the whole multi-shell fullerene is influenced by polymer-carbon van der Waals forces from the surrounding elastic medium. The elasticity generated by the carbon-carbon bonds is assumed to be distributed isotropically over the fullerene surfaces. Following derivation of explicit equations for the motion of the multi-shell fullerene, vibrational behavior of a double-shell fullerene is analyzed and resonant frequencies and the associated mode shapes are determined.  相似文献

Heart failure pathobiology is permissive to reparative intent. Regenerative therapies exemplify an emerging disruptive innovation aimed at achieving structural and functional organ restitution. However, mixed outcomes, complexity in use, and unsustainable cost have curtailed broader adoption, mandating the development of novel cardio-regenerative approaches. Lineage guidance offers a standardized path to customize stem cell fitness for therapy. A case in point is the molecular induction of the cardiopoiesis program in adult stem cells to yield cardiopoietic cell derivatives designed for heart failure treatment. Tested in early and advanced clinical trials in patients with ischemic heart failure, clinical grade cardiopoietic cells were safe and revealed therapeutic improvement within a window of treatment intensity and pre-treatment disease severity. With the prospect of mass customization, cardiopoietic guidance has been streamlined from the demanding, recombinant protein cocktail-based to a protein-free, messenger RNA-based single gene protocol to engineer affordable cardiac repair competent cells. Clinical trial biobanked stem cells enabled a systems biology deconvolution of the cardiopoietic cell secretome linked to therapeutic benefit, exposing a paracrine mode of action. Collectively, this new knowledge informs next generation regenerative therapeutics manufactured as engineered cellular or secretome mimicking cell-free platforms. Launching biotherapeutics tailored for optimal outcome and offered at mass production cost would contribute to advancing equitable regenerative care that addresses population health needs.  相似文献
