In this paper, we tackle the problem of opportunistic spectrum access in large-scale cognitive radio networks, where the unlicensed Secondary Users (SUs) access the frequency channels partially occupied by the licensed Primary Users (PUs). Each channel is characterized by an availability probability unknown to the SUs. We apply population game theory to model the spectrum access problem and develop distributed spectrum access policies based on imitation, a behavior rule widely applied in human societies consisting of imitating successful behaviors. We develop two imitation-based spectrum access policies based on the basic Proportional Imitation (PI) rule and the more advanced Double Imitation (DI) rule given that a SU can only imitate the other SUs operating on the same channel. A systematic theoretical analysis is presented for both policies on the induced imitation dynamics and the convergence properties of the proposed policies to the Nash equilibrium. Simple and natural, the proposed imitation-based spectrum access policies can be implemented distributedly based on solely local interactions and thus is especially suited in decentralized adaptive learning environments as cognitive radio networks.  相似文献

Extensive research in recent years has shown the benefits of cognitive radio technologies to improve the flexibility and efficiency of spectrum utilization. This new communication paradigm, however, requires a well-designed spectrum allocation mechanism. In this paper, we propose an auction framework for cognitive radio networks to allow unlicensed secondary users (SUs) to share the available spectrum of licensed primary users (PUs) fairly and efficiently, subject to the interference temperature constraint at each PU. To study the competition among SUs, we formulate a non-cooperative multiple-PU multiple-SU auction game and study the structure of the resulting equilibrium by solving a non-continuous two-dimensional optimization problem, including the existence, uniqueness of the equilibrium and the convergence to the equilibrium in the two auctions. A distributed algorithm is developed in which each SU updates its strategy based on local information to converge to the equilibrium. We also analyze the revenue allocation among PUs and propose an algorithm to set the prices under the guideline that the revenue of each PU should be proportional to its resource. We then extend the proposed auction framework to the more challenging scenario with free spectrum bands. We develop an algorithm based on the no-regret learning to reach a correlated equilibrium of the auction game. The proposed algorithm, which can be implemented distributedly based on local observation, is especially suited in decentralized adaptive learning environments as cognitive radio networks. Finally, through numerical experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed auction framework in achieving high efficiency and fairness in spectrum allocation.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the performance of two downlink multicellular systems: a multiple inputs single output (MISO) system using the Alamouti code and a multiple inputs multiple outputs (MIMO) system using the Alamouti code at the transmitter side and a maximum ratio combining (MRC) as a receiver, in terms of outage probability. The channel model includes path-loss, shadowing, and fast fading, and the system is considered interference-limited. Two cases are distinguished: constant shadowing and log-normally distributed shadowing. In the first case, closed form expressions of the outage probability are proposed. For a log-normally distributed shadowing, we derive easily computable expressions of the outage probability. The proposed expressions allow for fast and simple performance evaluation for the two multicellular wireless systems: MISO Alamouti and MIMO Alamouti with MRC receiver. We use a fluid model approach to provide simpler outage probability expressions depending only on the distance between the considered user and its serving base station.  相似文献

The evaluation of the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) in cellular networks is of primary importance for network dimensioning. For static studies, which evaluate cell capacity and coverage, as well as for dynamic studies, which consider arrivals and departures of mobile stations (MS), the SIR is always an important input. Contrary to most of the analytical works evaluating SIR, we assume in this paper that the MS is attached to the best server, i.e., to the base station (BS) from which it receives the highest power. This is a more realistic policy compared to the classical one that considers MSs to be attached to the nearest BS. The exact formulation of the SIR is however in this case uneasy to handle and numerical methods remain heavy. In this paper, we thus propose an approximate analytical study on the average SIR and SIR distribution in lognormally shadowed networks based on truncated lognormal distributions that provides very close results with respect to Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

Ad hoc and multi-hop networks will probably be a part of the fourth generation of wireless networks, which will integrate networks of several sizes and capacities with heterogeneous coverage: cellular networks (3G), WLAN hot spots, wireless personal area networks (WPAN) and wireless body area networks (WBAN). In this context, MAC protocols play a deciding role for a high utilization of the wireless channel. In this paper, several issues of the MAC layer and concepts for the definition of a new MAC protocol are presented. These concepts include synchronization, multi-user diversity, and multi-packet reception. It is shown that all these techniques can drastically increase the capacity of the MAC layer for multi-hop networks.  相似文献

TDMA based MAC protocols can provide a very good utilization of the shared radio resources, especially at high input loads, in synchronized mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Global positioning systems like GPS or GALLILEO should provide a very good timing accuracy for synchronization of nodes. This paper presents a new medium access protocol for mobile ad hoc networks, called CROMA. CROMA is collision-free and receiver-oriented. It operates in a slotted environment, in a dynamic and distributed way. In this protocol, receivers act as local base stations and can manage one or several communications on a single slot. Thus, sophisticated functions are allowed at higher layers. Moreover, the hidden terminal as well as the exposed terminal problems are handled by CROMA. A theoretical analysis and extensive simulations show that CROMA can reach very high throughputs.  相似文献
