The authors present and evaluate a technique for synchronizing the internal states of a code-excited-linear-prediction (CELP) encoder and decoder after the occurrence of frame erasure. The designed technique, called ldquoduplicated transmission (DT),rdquo uses some redundant information for realizing synchronization. The encoder performs encoding processes twice and sends two codes for each frame. One code is encoded by an encoder that is initialized. The code is used in cases where the previous frame is erased. An onset detector is combined with the DT technique to select the frames to which the DT should be applied. Subjective test results suggest that, by introducing DT selectively, the number of DT frames is reducible by about 80% without degrading the subjective quality. Results demonstrate that synchronization of the internal states is effective in cases of erasure of onset. The DT technique requires no additional algorithmic delay. For that reason, it would a better choice for particular applications for which the delay has a significant impact. 相似文献

Prepolymerizations of 4,4′‐bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMI), diallyl isocyanurate (DAIC), and melamine (ML) at 160–170°C and subsequent compression molding at 200–280°C yielded cured BMI/DAIC/ML resins with feed molar ratios of 4/1/1, 3/1/1, and 2/1/1 (BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 311, and 211). Similarly, cured BMI/DAIC 1/1 and BMI/ML 3/1 resins (BMI‐DAIC11 and BMI‐ML31) were prepared. The FT‐IR analysis revealed that the maleimide and allyl groups were almost consumed for all the cured resins, and the hydrogen bonding interaction became stronger with decreasing BMI contents for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs. Based on the cured structures elucidated from the FT‐IR result, the numbers of multiple hydrogen bonds and cross‐linking covalent bonds (NMHB and NCB), and total cross‐linking bond energy (ETB) were evaluated to be 0, 7.92, and 618 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML411, 0.71, 7.81, and 627 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML311, and 0.95 mol kg?1, 7.61 mol kg?1, and 617 kcal kg?1 for BMI‐DAIC‐ML211, respectively. A higher order of glass transition and 5% weight loss temperatures for BMI‐DAIC‐MLs was 411 > 311 > 211 in accordance with a higher order of NCB. BMI‐DAIC‐MLs displayed a weak tan δ peak at 70–150°C due to dissociation of the hydrogen bonds. The flexural strength and modulus of BMI‐DAIC‐ML311 were higher than those of BMI‐DAIC‐ML411 in accordance with the difference of ETB. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. A method to determine arbitrary moments of aerosol size distributions from differential mobility analyzer measurements has been proposed. The proposed method is based on a modification of the algorithm developed by Knutson and Whitby to calculate the moments of electrical mobility distributions. For this modification, the electrical mobility and the charge distribution have been approximately expressed by power functions of the particle diameter. To evaluate the validity of the approximation, we have carried out numerical simulations for typical size distributions. We have found that for typical narrowly distributed aerosols such as polystyrene latex particles and particles that arise in the tandem differential mobility analyzer configuration, the distribution parameters can be accurately determined by this method. For a log-normally distributed aerosol, the accuracy of the distribution parameters determined by this method has been evaluated as a function of the geometric standard deviation. We describe a newly constructed annular-type differential mobility analyzer (DMA) with an effective electrode length of 60 cm, which is longer than that of our original DMA (40 cm length). This long DMA was developed to extend the classification size of particles measuring up to 1.5 μm. As an application of this DMA, the mean diameters and standard deviations were determined for six samples of monodisperse polystyrene latex (PSL) particles ranging from 0.94 to 1.27 μm in nominal diameter. These PSL particles suspended in double-distilled water were aerosolized by a glass nebulizer and then introduced into the DMA. The mean diameters and standard deviations of these PSL particles were calculated by Ehara's method and compared with the nominal diameters and uncertainties. There was good correlation between the nominal diameters of these samples—particularly for recently certified samples—and the measured diameters. Classification of aerosol particles more than 1 micrometer in diameter using this DMA will be useful for many purposes. 相似文献

We studied a relationship between in vitro sensitivity of the tumors to anti-cancerous drugs and histopathological effectiveness of an intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy in 15 patients with bladder cancers. The in vitro sensitivity test was performed by measuring intra-cellular ATP contents (ATP assay). The intra-arterial chemotherapy were performed by injecting methotrexate (MTX), adriamycin (ADM) and eisplatin (CDDP) from the internal iliac artery. When the intra-cellular ATP contents of the tumor cells treated with an anti-cancerous drug decreased to less than 50% of the untreated tumor cells, the tumor was evaluated as sensitive to the drug. The effectiveness of the chemotherapy were histopathologically evaluated by a pathologist according to the response criteria for bladder cancer treatment. When the histopathological responses of higher than grade 2 were observed in the tumor, the chemotherapy was evaluated as effective. In 8 of 9 tumors sensitive to ADM, chemotherapy were effective histopathologically and in all 6 tumors resistant to ADM, histopathological response of the chemotherapies were poor. The overall coincidence ratio between sensitivity to ADM and the histopathological effectiveness of the chemotherapy was 93%, showing statistically significant correlation. In 7 of 12 tumors sensitive to CDDP, the chemotherapies were effective and in 2 of 3 tumors resistant to CDDP, the chemotherapies were ineffective. Although the overall coincidence ratio between the sensitivities to CDDP and chemotherapeutic effectiveness was 60%, there was no significant correlation between them. In 7 of 8 tumors sensitive to both of ADM and CDDP, the chemotherapies were effective and in 6 of 7 tumors resistant to at least one of them, the chemotherapies were ineffective. Neutron-induced soft error rates (SERs) of subhalf-micron CMOS SRAM and Latch circuits were studied both experimentally and analytically to investigate cosmic ray neutron-induced soft errors (SEs). Because the neutron beam used in the measurement has an energy spectrum similar to that of sea-level atmospheric neutrons, our SER data corresponds to those induced by cosmic ray neutrons. The α-particle induced SERs were also measured for comparison with the neutron-induced SER's. Neutron-induced SEs occurred in both circuits. On the other hand, α-induced SEs occurred in SRAM, but not in the Latch circuits. The measured SERs agreed with simulated results. This article introduces an aerosol-based technique to make aqueous suspension of hydrophobic nanomaterial without adding dispersant. The method is intended for making a test-sample for evaluating the toxicities of nanomaterial by intra-tracheal administration. The method can wet the surface of hydrophobic nanomaterial within a few seconds. After the wetting process five to ten minutes of sonication assisted with manual stirring can fully disperse the hydrophobic nanomaterials in water. Two types of TiO2 nanomaterial were used in this study; Tayca JMT-150IB whose surfaces are coated with negatively charged hydrophobic functional group, and P25 whose surfaces are naturally hydrophilic. Nanomaterials are aerosolized by a dry-method and become micrometer-sized agglomerates. Then supersaturated water vapor is condensed onto these airborne agglomerates by using a growth tube collector. The collected suspension (CS) of hydrophobic nanomaterial (JMT-150IB) is prepared in two steps; airborne agglomerates are collected onto a flat surface then transferred to liquid-water and subsequently sonicated for complete dispersion. This method works equally well for making the CS of hydrophilic nanomaterial. Size distribution measurements of the CS show that airborne agglomerates of TiO2 dissociate into smaller units of agglomerates once they are captured into water, and the sizes of the agglomerates are in the nanometer to sub-micrometer range. Light scattering technique is used to show that a short sonication process can reproduce the particle number concentration of the CS after long storage.

One of the applications of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is the cleaning of air to increase the visibility index in highway tunnels. Particles floating in air in highway tunnels are mainly carbon. Collection efficiency of a large particle diameter in an ESP often decreases when the ESP collects carbon particles which have low electric resistance. Collection efficiency often becomes negative in an experimental ESP. The negative collection efficiency means that the particle concentration flowing downstream is greater than that upstream in the ESP. This phenomenon is explained as the re-entrainment of particles. In this paper, experiments were carried out to investigate the cause of the decrease in efficiency of particle collection of the ESP. The time characteristic of the collection efficiency and the distribution of particle size on the collection electrodes were studied. Experimental results showed that the decrease in the collection efficiency was caused by re-entrainment of particles during the ESP operation. The effect of gas-flow velocity on the collection efficiency of the ESP was also investigated to study the cause of re-entrainment phenomena.
