This paper proposes, for the first time, a new radiation pattern synthesis for fractal antenna array that combines the unique multi-band characteristics of fractal arrays with the adaptive beamforming requirements in wireless environment with high-jamming power. In this work, a new adaptive beamforming method based on discrete cbKalman filter is proposed for linear Cantor fractal array with high performance and low computational requirements. The proposed Kalman filter-based beamformer is compared with the Least Mean Squares (LMS) and the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) techniques under various parameter regimes, and the results reveal the superior performance of the proposed approach in terms of beamforming stability, Half-Power Beam Width (HPBW), maximum Side-Lobe Level (SLL), null depth at the direction of interference signals, and convergence rate for different Signal to Interference (SIR) values. Also, the results demonstrate that the suggested approach not only achieves perfect adaptation of the radiation pattern synthesis at high jamming power, but also keep the same SLL at different operating frequencies. This shows the usefulness of the proposed approach in multi-band smart antenna technology for mobile communications and other wireless systems.

Recently multiserver queues with setup times have been extensively studied because they have applications in power-saving data centers. A challenging model is the M/M/c/Setup queue where a server is turned off when it is idle and is turned on if there are some waiting jobs. Recently, Gandhi et al. (in: Proceedings of the ACM SIGMETRICS, pp. 153–166, ACM, 2013; Queueing Syst. 77(2):177–209, 2014) obtain the generating function of the number of jobs in the system, as well as the Laplace transform of the response time using the recursive renewal reward approach and the distributional Little’s law (Keilson and Servi in Oper Res Lett 7(5):223– 227, 1988). In this paper, we derive exact solutions for the joint stationary queue length distribution of the same model using two alternative methodologies: generating function approach and matrix analytic method. The generating function approach yields exact closed form expressions for the joint stationary queue length distribution and the conditional decomposition formula. On the other hand, the matrix analytic approach leads to an exact recursive algorithm to calculate the joint stationary distribution and performance measures so as to provide some application insights.  相似文献

Matched chirp modulation (MCM) is an improved version of chirp modulation (CM) in which the frequency sweep rate is matched to the dispersion parameters of the communication channel. In this paper, we propose a chaotic interleaving scheme for the continuous phase modulation based single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (CPM-SC-FDE) system. Chaotic interleaving is used in this scheme to generate permuted versions from the sample sequences to be transmitted, with low correlation among their samples, and hence a better bit error rate (BER) performance can be obtained. The proposed CPM-SC-FDE system with chaotic interleaving combines the advantages of the frequency diversity, the low complexity, and the high power efficiency of the CPM-SC-FDE system and the performance improvements due to chaotic interleaving. The BER performance of the CPM-SC-FDE system with and without chaotic interleaving is evaluated by computer simulations. Also, a comparison between the proposed chaotic interleaving and the conventional block interleaving is performed. Simulation results show that, the proposed chaotic interleaving scheme can greatly improve the performance of the CPM-SC-FDE system. Furthermore, the results show that this scheme outperforms the conventional block interleaving scheme in the CPM-SC-FDE system. The results also show that, the proposed CPM-SC-FDE system with chaotic interleaving provides a good trade-off between system performance and bandwidth efficiency.  相似文献

A sphere decoder searches for the closest lattice point within a certain search radius. The search radius provides a tradeoff between performance and complexity. We focus on analyzing the performance of sphere decoding of linear block codes. We analyze the performance of soft-decision sphere decoding on AWGN channels and a variety of modulation schemes. A hard-decision sphere decoder is a bounded distance decoder with the corresponding decoding radius. We analyze the performance of hard-decision sphere decoding on binary and q-ary symmetric channels. An upper bound on the performance of maximum-likelihood decoding of linear codes defined over Fq (e.g. Reed- Solomon codes) and transmitted over q-ary symmetric channels is derived and used in the analysis.We then discuss sphere decoding of general block codes or lattices with arbitrary modulation schemes. The tradeoff between the performance and complexity of a sphere decoder is then discussed.  相似文献

The selective mapping (SLM) scheme is one of the most popular peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction techniques proposed for multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. One of the major disadvantages of this scheme is the need for the transmission of side information (SI) bits to enable the receiver to recover the transmitted data. The authors present a small overhead SLM (s-SLM) scheme for space-time block coded (STBC) MIMO-OFDM systems. This proposed scheme improves the system bandwidth efficiency and achieves a significantly lower bit error rate (BER) than the individual SLM (i-SLM) and direct SLM (d-SLM) schemes. In addition, approximate expressions for the complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) of the PAPR and the average BER of the proposed s-SLM scheme are derived. The simulation results show that the proposed s-SLM scheme improves the detection probability of the SI bits and hence gives a better performance than the i-SLM and the d-SLM schemes.  相似文献
