A high-power and high-repetition-rate passively Q -switched ytterbium-doped single-mode double-clad fiber laser was built using a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber (SA). Two different SAs with initial transmissions of Tomicron = 30% and Tomicron = 50% were studied. At the maximum coupled pump power of 9.8 W, an output power of 4.7 W, pulse duration of 143 ns, pulse repetition rate of 253 KHz, pulse energy of 18.5 muJ, and slope efficiency of 49% were obtained with the Tomicron = 30% SA.  相似文献

In order for quantitative applications to make full use of the ever-increasing number of Earth observation satellite systems, data from the various imaging sensors involved must be on a consistent radiometric scale. This paper reports on an investigation of radiometric calibration errors due to differences in spectral response functions between satellite sensors when attempting cross-calibration based on near-simultaneous imaging of common ground targets in analogous spectral bands, a commonly used post-launch calibration methodology. Twenty Earth observation imaging sensors (including coarser and higher spatial resolution sensors) were considered, using the Landsat solar reflective spectral domain as a framework. Scene content was simulated using spectra for four ground target types (Railroad Valley Playa, snow, sand and rangeland), together with various combinations of atmospheric states and illumination geometries. Results were obtained as a function of ground target type, satellite sensor comparison, spectral region, and scene content. Overall, if spectral band difference effects (SBDEs) are not taken into account, the Railroad Valley Playa site is a “good” ground target for cross calibration between most but not all satellite sensors in most but not all spectral regions investigated. “Good” is defined as SBDEs within ± 3%. The other three ground target types considered (snow, sand and rangeland) proved to be more sensitive to uncorrected SBDEs than the RVPN site overall. The spectral characteristics of the scene content (solar irradiance, surface reflectance and atmosphere) are examined in detail to clarify why spectral difference effects arise and why they can be significant when comparing different imaging sensor systems. Atmospheric gas absorption features are identified as being the main source of spectral variability in most spectral regions. The paper concludes with recommendations on spectral data and tools that would facilitate cross-calibration between multiple satellite sensors.  相似文献

For quantitative studies of vegetation dynamics, satellite data need to be corrected for spurious effects. In this study, we have applied several changes to an earlier advanced very high resolution radiometer (AVHRR) processing methodology (ABC3; [Remote Sens. Environ. 60 (1997) 35; J. Geophys. Res.-Atmos. 102 (1997) 29625; Can. J. Remote Sens. 23 (1997) 163]), to better represent the various physical processes causing contamination of the AVHRR measurements. These included published recent estimates of the NOAA-11 and NOAA-14 AVHRR calibration trajectories for channels 1 and 2; the best available estimates for the water vapour, aerosol and ozone amounts at the time of AVHRR data acquisition; an improved bidirectional reflectance algorithm that also takes into consideration surface topography; and an improved image screening algorithm for contaminated pixels. Unlike the previous study that compared the composite images to a single-date AVHRR image, we employed coincident TM images to approximate the AVHRR pixel field of view during the data acquisition. Compared to ABC3, the modified procedure ABC3V2 was found to improve the accuracy of AVHRR pixel reflectance estimates, both in the sensitivity (slope) of the regression and in r2. The improvements were especially significant in AVHRR channel 1. In comparison with reference values derived from two full TM scenes, the corrected AVHRR surface reflectance estimates had average standard errors values of ±0.009 for AVHRR C1, ±0.019 for C2, and ±0.04 for NDVI; the corresponding r2 values were 0.55, 0.80, and 0.50, respectively. The changes in ABC3V2 were not able to completely remove interannual variability for land cover types with little or no vegetation cover, which would be expected to remain stable over time, and they increased the interannual variability of mixed forest and grassland. These results are attributed to a combination of increased sensitivity to interannual dynamics on one hand, and the inability to remove all sources of noise for barren or sparsely vegetated northern land cover types on the other.  相似文献

We report an efficient Cu K(alpha) x-ray source produced by focusing submillijoule, 120 fs Ti:sapphire laser pulses on a solid copper target to a spot diameter of few microns. The experimental results show strong emission of K(alpha) x-rays from solid targets from microplasmas created by p-polarized 0.2-0.3 mJ laser pulses at 1 kHz repetition rate. We have demonstrated K(alpha) x-ray point source emission rates of 6.7 x 10(9) photonss into 2 pi sr at 1 kHz repetition rate. The source has an x-ray conversion efficiency into Cu K(alpha) line emission of 3.2 x 10(-5). The source has a measured size of approximately 8 microm. Such a high repetition rate K(alpha) x-ray source can be very useful for time resolved x-ray diffraction and radiographic applications.  相似文献

Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data derived from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) data are influenced by cloud contamination, which is common in individual AVHRR scenes. Maximum value compositing (MVC) of NDVI data has been employed to minimize cloud contamination. Two types of weekly NDVI composites were built for crop seasons in summer: one from all available AVHRR data (named the traditional NDVI composite) and the other from solely cloud-free AVHRR data (named the conditional NDVI composite). The MVC method was applied to both composites. The main objective of this study was to compare the two types of NDVI composites using Texas data. The NDVI seasonal profiles produced from the conditional NDVI composites agreed with the field measured leaf area index (LAI) data, reaching maximum values at similar times. However, the traditional NDVI composites showed irregular patterns, primarily due to cloud contamination. These study results suggest that cloud detection for individual AVHRR scenes should be strongly recommended before producing weekly NDVI composites. Appropriate AVHRR data pre-processing is important for composite products to be used for short-term vegetation condition and biomass studies, where the traditional NDVI composite data do not eliminate cloud-contaminated pixels. In addition, this study showed that atmosphere composition affected near-infrared reflectance more than visible reflectance. The near-infrared reflectance was increasingly adjusted through atmospheric correction.  相似文献

Europium-doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3:Eu) is a well-known luminescent material that in recent years has been studied in thin-film form. However, to date there has not been a great effort put into altering the nanostructure of these films. A thin-film deposition technique called glancing angle deposition allows for a high degree of control over the nanostructure of the thin film, resulting in thin films with nanostructure geometries ranging from chevron and post to helix. Glancing-angle deposition was used to make europium-doped yttrium oxide thin films with slanted-post nanostructures. Portions of the films were annealed in air at 850 degrees C for 10 hours following deposition. Scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the nanostructures of the films, while UV laser excitation was used to characterize the photoluminescence properties of the films. The annealed samples exhibited increased photoluminescent responses compared to unannealed samples; however, the porous nanoscale geometry of the films was unaffected. In order to optimize the photoluminescence properties of the films, both the partial pressure of oxygen during film deposition and the level of europium doping in the source material used were varied. Films fabricated from the source material with a greater amount of europium doping had larger photoluminescent responses, while the optimal partial pressure of oxygen during electron-beam evaporation was found to be less than 1.0 x 10(-4) torr.  相似文献

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a well-known technique for fast, stand-off, and nondestructive analysis of the elemental composition of a sample. We have been investigating micro-LIBS for the past few years and demonstrating its application to microanalysis of surfaces. Recently, we have integrated micro-LIBS with laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), and this combination, laser ablation laser-induced fluorescence (LA-LIF), allows one to achieve much higher sensitivity than traditional LIBS. In this study, we use a 170 microJ laser pulse to ablate a liquid sample in order to measure the lead content. The plasma created was re-excited by a 10 microJ laser pulse tuned to one of the lead resonant lines. Upon optimization, the 3sigma limit of detection was found to be 35 +/- 7 ppb, which is close to the EPA standard for the level of lead allowed in drinking water.  相似文献

Experimental measurements have been made of the stimulated Brillouin backscatter from CCl2F2gas in the range of pressures from 1 to 5.75 atm. Using narrow-linewidth KrF laser radiation as the pump backscatter efficiencies of up to 35 percent have been achieved, while at low backscatter efficiencies pulses as short as 1.5 ns in width were obtained.  相似文献

A Q-controlled Nd:glass ring laser system has been developed which is actively mode-locked by means of either KD *P or LiNbO(3) electro-optic modulators and is capable of producing 1.5 mJ, 100 ps, 1.06 mum pulses synchronized to better than 400 ps to an external event. By using prelase methods or saturable absorbers shorter pulses from 37 to 15 ps duration can be generated with poorer synchronization.  相似文献
