Polycrystalline diamond films prepared in a hot filament chemical vapour deposition reactor were investigated with Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in order to identify chemically and structurally distinguishable phases during nucleation and early stages of diamond growth. This was achieved by investigating a series of films grown under identical conditions for 5 min to 4 h. In addition, the interface between a solid diamond film and its silicon substrate was studied after the film had been removed from the substrate. Carbon deposition commences initially with the simultaneous growth of diamond crystallites along scratches and a layer of microcrystalline graphite covering the remainder of the substrate. Small amounts of SiC could also be identified during the first 100 min of deposition. Once the individual diamond crystallites have grown together to form a continuous layer, the graphitic phase in the spectra is replaced by an amorphous carbon phase which we attribute to the grain boundaries between the crystals. Inspection of the film backside revealed that the amorphous carbon had merely overgrown the microcrystalline graphite which was still present as the major component. Only after prolonged growth times (24 h) did the Raman and XPS spectra exhibit the characteristic diamond features free from any other contributions. On the basis of these observations a model for the initial stages of diamond growth on Si is developed. 相似文献

The effect of medium pH on the activity of cultured human osteoblasts was investigated in this study. Osteoblasts derived from explants of human trabecular bone were grown to confluence and subcultured. The first-pass cells were incubated in Hepes-buffered media at initial pHs adjusted from 7.0 to 7.8. Osteoblast function was evaluated by measuring lactate production, alkaline phosphatase activity, proline hydroxylation, DNA content, and thymidine incorporation. Changes in medium pH were determined from media pHs recorded at the beginning and end of the final 48 h incubation period. As medium pH increased through pH 7.6, collagen synthesis, alkaline phosphatase activity, and thymidine incorporation increased. DNA content increased from pH 7.0 to 7.2, plateaued from pH 7.2 to 7.6, and increased again from pH 7.6 to 7.8. The changes in the medium pH were greatest at pHs 7.0 and 7.8, modest at pHs 7.4 and 7.6, and did not change at 7.2, suggesting that the pHs are migrating towards pH 7.2. Lactate production increased at pH 7.0 but remained constant from 7.2 to 7.8. These results suggest that in the pH range from 7.0-7.6 the activity of human osteoblasts increases with increasing pH, that this increase in activity does not require an increase in glycolytic activity, and that pH 7.2 may be the optimal pH for these cells. 相似文献

Three different current-mode-output CMOS image sensor structures comprising of a pixel cell and an appropriate readout circuit have been analyzed and compared with regard to their noise behavior, fixed-pattern noise (FPN), and the dynamic range. First, a standard integrating pixel cell with a readout circuit containing a voltage-to-current converter is proposed. Second, a pixel cell based on a switched current cell is analyzed. The third sensor cell uses a feedback loop to control the reverse bias voltage of the photodiode to reduce the settling time of the pixel cell and the influence of the photodiodes's dark current. The necessary amplifier is partly located in the pixel cell and partly in the readout circuit. In all sensors, correlated double sampling is used to suppress the FPN. 相似文献

We report two studies examining the effects of nicotine on memory in minimally deprived smokers. In experiment 1, semantically related words were recalled significantly better than unrelated words following nicotine, even when volunteers were explicitly instructed to target the unrelated word set for recall. Experiment 2 examined the effect of nicotine on two different types of lexical association: association by joint category membership (semantically related items), and association by derived meaning ("encapsulated" word pairs). Nicotine-induced improvements in recall were observed only for category associates and not for encapsulated word pairs. This implies that explicit, effortful processing of material in the presence of nicotine is necessary for improved recall performance to be observed. 相似文献
