Hybrid photocatalysts based on an adsorbent SiMgOx and a photocatalyst TiO2 were developed in a plate shape. The ceramic surface was coated with TiO2 by the slip-casting technique. The effect of the support in the photocatalytic degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) was analyzed by modifying TiO2 loading and the layer thickness. Photocatalysts were characterised by N2 adsorption–desorption, mercury intrusion porosimetry, SEM, UV–vis spectroscopy and XRD. A direct relationship between the TiO2 content and the photocatalytic activity was observed up to three layers of TiO2 (0.66 wt.%). Our results indicate that intermediate species generated on the TiO2 layer can migrate through relatively long distances to react with the OH surface groups of the support. By increasing the TiO2 loading of the photocatalyst two effects were observed: trichloroethylene conversion is enhanced, while the efficiency of the oxidation process is decreased at expenses of increasing the selectivity to COCl2 and dichloroacetylchloride (DCAC). The results are discussed in terms of the layer thickness, TiO2 amount, TCE conversion and CO2, and COCl2 selectivity.  相似文献

An indefinite Lyapunov test matrix for closed-loop dissipativeness using LQG (linear quadratic Gaussian) design is presented. The application of this test to relaxation systems, lossless systems, Hamiltonian systems, positive real systems, and second-order systems with collocated rate sensors and actuators is explored. The Lyapunov test also helps clarify the role of collocated sensors and actuators in LQG design. A set of duality theorems based on the indefinite Lyapunov test matrix is derived  相似文献

Lake Ontario ice conditions are statistically linked to regional temperatures recorded in Toronto, during the most recent climate normal (1980/81–2009/10). A metric was developed to capture the net melting effect of average winter temperatures to characterize lake ice conditions, referred to as Net Melting-Degree Days (NMDD). This metric was able to account for 78% of lake ice interannual variability (R2 = 0.783, P < 0.001). Based on NMDD parameters, current lake ice conditions were characterized in four ways: heavy, moderate, light and very light. Lake Ontario ice conditions were reconstructed to create a hindcast for the span of the instrumental temperature record (1840/41–1979/80). Based on a decadal analysis, heavy ice seasons decreased significantly (R2 = 0.658, P < 0.001) from the 1840s to the 2000s, declining from an average of 6 heavy ice seasons per decade during the most distant climate normal (1840s to 1960s) to an average of only 1 heavy ice season per decade during the most recent climate normal (1980s to 2000s). Finally, lake ice conditions are projected to the end of the 21st century, using an optimal ensemble of Global Climate Model outputs for two different climate change scenarios (RCP4.5, RCP8.5). Heavy ice seasons no longer occur as early as the 2050s under both RCP4.5 and RCP8.5. Whereas, very light ice seasons go from being an extreme in the baseline period (10%), to the dominant characterization of Lake Ontario ice conditions by the 2080s, for both RCP4.5 (73%) and RCP8.5 (100%).  相似文献

In this note, an exact characterization of autonomous linear multivariable systems with zeros everywhere in the complex plane is given in terms of the system matrices. Such systems are called degenerate. An important consequence of this characterization is that nondegeneracy is equivalent to the concept of functional reproducibility, introduced by Brockett and Mesarović. Based on this equivalence, a new test for nondegeneracy in terms of the functional reproducibility matrix is derived. An example is included to show that controllability, observability, and output-controllability are not sufficient to guarantee the nondegeneracy of a linear system.  相似文献

The nature of stable DNA adducts derived from the very potent carcinogen dibenzo[a,l]pyrene (DB[a,l]P) in the presence of rat liver microsomes in vitro and in mouse skin in vivo has been studied using 32P-postlabeling and laser-based fluorescence techniques. Analysis of DB[a,l]P-DNA adducts via 32P-postlabeling has been obtained by comparison of the adduct patterns to those obtained from reactions of synthetic (+/-)-anti-, (+)-anti-, (-)-anti-, and (+/-)-syn-DB[a,l]P-11,12-diol 13,14-epoxide (DB[a,l]PDE) with single nucleotides and calf thymus DNA. anti-DB[a,l]PDE-dA adducts derived from the (-)-enantiomer are the major adducts formed in calf thymus DNA and in mouse skin DNA. The ratio of deoxyadenosine to deoxyguanosine modification is approximately 2:1 in mouse skin exposed to DB[a,l]P; activation by rat liver microsomes leads to a similar profile of adducts but with two additional spots. The conformations of DB[a,l]P adducts in native DNA, as well as the possibility of conformation-dependent repair, have been explored by low-temperature fluorescence spectroscopy. These studies have been performed using polynucleotides and calf thymus DNA reacted in vitro with DB[a,l]PDE and native DNA from mouse epidermis exposed to DB[a, l]P. The results show that adducts are heterogeneous, possess different structures, and adopt different conformations. External, external but base-stacked and intercalated adduct conformations are observed in calf thymus DNA and in mouse skin DNA samples. Differences in adduct repair rates are also revealed; namely, the analysis of mouse skin DNA samples obtained at 24 and 48 h after exposure to DB[a,l]P clearly shows that external adducts are repaired more efficiently than intercalated adducts. These results, taken together with those for B[a]P-DNA adducts [Suh et al. (1995) Carcinogenesis 16, 2561-2569], indicate that the repair of DNA damage resulting from PAH diol epoxides is conformation-dependent.  相似文献

Test performance of 215 passing medical students was compared with that of 29 drop-outs because of scholastic failure. Mean score differences were computed for 9 measures, including high school rank, 2 honor-point ratio (grade) measures, ACE, Coop English Test, Medical College Admission Test, Minn. Medical Aptitude Test, SVIB, MMPI. Successful students make significantly higher pre-med course grades, Minn. Medical Aptitude Test scores, ACE scores, and lower scores on the L-scale of the MMPI. Peer group image processing identifies a "peer group" for each pixel and then replaces the pixel intensity with the average over the peer group. Two parameters provide direct control over which image features are selectively enhanced: area (number of pixels in the feature) and window diameter (window size needed to enclose the feature). A discussion is given of how these parameters determine which features in the image are smoothed or preserved. We show that the Fisher discriminant can be used to automatically adjust the peer group averaging (PGA) parameters at each point in the image. This local parameter selection allows smoothing over uniform regions while preserving features like corners and edges. This adaptive procedure extends to multilevel and color forms of PGA. Comparisons are made with a variety of standard filtering techniques and an analysis is given of computational complexity and convergence issues.  相似文献

The relationship between interests as measured on the SVIB and socioeconomic status of college students was explored. 9 groups of entering college freshmen were selected on the basis of father's occupation and educational level of both parents. Differences among distributions of the 9 groups on each of 48 SVIB scales were tested for significance using the analysis of variance test. Conclusions are: measured vocational interests of college students were not independent of social origin, college students of lesser cultural background tended to identify with occupations requiring quantitative and technical training, extent of overlap between social groups on SVIB scales was high. Environmental factors are believed to play an important role in cancer aetiology. Whether environmental pollutants act in isolation or in combination within mixtures remains unclear. Four human milk-fat extracts (from resident U.K. women) were screened for levels of organochlorinated and brominated compounds prior to being tested (1-50 mg-equiv) for micronucleus (MN)-forming activity in MCF-7 cells. Using the cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay, micronuclei (MNi) were scored in 1000 binucleate cells per treatment. Cell viability (% plating efficiency) and immunohistochemical detection of p53 induction were also measured. The effects of treatment with 1 mg-equiv of extract in combination with benzo[a]pyrene (BP) were also examined. BP-DNA adducts were detected and quantified by 32P-postlabeling analysis. Dose-related increases in MNi independent of pollutant concentrations were induced by milk-fat extracts. All four extracts elevated the percentage of p53 positive cells, although not always in a dose-related fashion. Some combinations resulted in profound low-dose-induced increases in MNi and significant elevations in the percentage of p53 positive cells, which occurred without further reduction in cell viability or mitotic rate. When one particular extract was combined with BP, a 100-fold increase in BP-DNA adducts was detected as compared with the levels induced by BP alone; an effect not induced by other extracts. This adduct-enhancing extract was fractionated into 14 fractions that were subsequently tested (1 mg-equiv of original extract) in combination with 0.01 microM BP. Fraction 1, into which nonpolar pollutants mostly eluted, enhanced MN-forming activity with BP. Surprisingly, the more polar and less likely to contain fat-soluble pollutants fractions 5 and 8 also enhanced MN-forming activity. No identifiable pollutants were present in these fractions. The results suggest that different environmental pollutants present in human tissue may influence the susceptibility of target cells to initiating events.  相似文献
