With the recent developments in wearable augmented reality (AR), the role of natural human–computer interaction is becoming more important. Utilization of auxiliary hardware for interaction introduces extra complexity, weight and cost to wearable AR systems and natural means of interaction such as gestures are therefore more desirable. In this paper, we present a novel multi-cue hand detection and tracking method for head-mounted AR systems which combines depth, color, intensity and curvilinearity. The combination of different cues increases the detection rate, eliminates the background regions and therefore increases the tracking performance under challenging conditions. Detected hand positions and the trajectories are used to perform actions such as click, select, etc. Moreover, the 6 DOF poses of the hands are calculated by approximating the segmented regions with planes in order to render a planar menu (interface) around the hand and use the hand as a planar selection tool. The proposed system is tested on different scenarios (including markers for reference) and the results show that our system can detect and track the hands successfully in challenging conditions such as cluttered and dynamic environments and illumination variance. We demonstrate that information can be transmitted and processed with pure spin currents in silicon. Fe/Al2O3 tunnel barrier contacts are used to produce significant electron spin polarization in the silicon, generating a spin current which flows outside of the charge current path. The spin orientation of this pure spin current is controlled in one of three ways: 1) by switching the magnetization of the Fe contact; 2) by changing the polarity of the bias on the Fe/Al2O3 "injector" contact, which enables the generation of either majority or minority spin populations in the Si, providing a way to electrically manipulate the injected spin orientation without changing the magnetization of the contact itself; and 3) by inducing spin precession through the application of a small perpendicular magnetic field. Spin polarization by electrical extraction is as effective as that achieved by the more common electrical spin injection. The output characteristics of a planar silicon three-terminal device are very similar to those of nonvolatile giant magnetoresistance metal spin-valve structures. 相似文献

This paper presents successful 20 and 40 Gb/s potentially low-cost transmission experiments using 1310 nm directly modulated distributed feedback lasers (DMLs) in the very-short- to medium-range distances. This paper will recommend operating conditions for error-free transmission at these bit rates and distances. Pattern dependencies are identified. General characteristics of direct laser modulation are confirmed by dedicated simulation software and experiments. Unknown laser parameters needed to solve the rate equations are estimated by a given method based on measured and calculated small- and large-signal DML responses. 相似文献

In the literature 3-methylhistidine (3-MeHis) is mentioned as a parameter for the determination of meat content. Because of the variable molar ratio of 3-MeHis in the myofibrillar protein myosin, this indicator cannot be used without some restriction. However, the content of 3-MeHis in the myofibrillar protein actin is constant. Moreover, actin is relatively heat-stable in comparison with other muscle proteins. These facts made actin an interesting parameter for determination of the meat (protein) content of heated and raw meat products.
Fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) was used to separate from a meat extract an actin-containing fraction without myosin. The actin content of the meat was calculated from its content in the fraction. The latter was determined by means of a 3-MeHis method.
Several muscles of the beef and pig carcass were examined for their actin contents. Generally, the actin values were comparable with the data reported in the literature.
The influence of heat treatment was also studied on one type of beef muscle. The determined actin content was not affected up to a temperature of 85°C. 相似文献

Past sequencing campaigns overlooked small proteins as they seemed to be irrelevant due to their small size. However, their occurrence is widespread, and there is growing evidence that these small proteins are in fact functionally very important in organisms found in all kingdoms of life. Within a global proteome analysis for small proteins of the archaeal model organism Haloferax volcanii, the HVO_2922 protein has been identified. It is differentially expressed in response to changes in iron and salt concentrations, thus suggesting that its expression is stress-regulated. The protein is conserved among Haloarchaea and contains an uncharacterized domain of unknown function (DUF1508, UPF0339 family protein). We elucidated the NMR solution structure, which shows that the isolated protein forms a symmetrical dimer. The dimerization is found to be concentration-dependent and essential for protein stability and most likely for its functionality, as mutagenesis at the dimer interface leads to a decrease in stability and protein aggregation. 相似文献

Species identification in meat products using real-time PCR. 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
One of the most convenient methods for the identification of animal species in processed meat products is the examination of DNA sequences. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) techniques are particularly suitable because even small fragments of DNA formed during heat processing of the meat can be amplified and identified. A real-time PCR method has been developed and evaluated for the identification of processed meat products. In test mixtures containing beef, pork, horse, mutton, chicken and turkey, it was possible to identify these species down to a level of 0.05%. By adjusting the number of cycles, it was possible to detect levels as low as 0.01% of these species. Cross-reactivity between these species was not found, except for pure horsemeat (250 ng DNA) in the assay for turkey meat. Cross-reactivity of deer, roe, ostrich, kangaroo, goat, domestic duck, mallard, goose, pigeon, guinea fowl, quail and pheasant was also investigated and it was found that amounts as high as 250 ng DNA of these species in the reaction vial did not result in (false) positive signals except for amounts higher than 125 ng deer DNA and higher than 50 ng pigeon DNA in the determination of chicken and beef, respectively. More than 150 meat samples were examined using DNA hybridization and real-time PCR. In this paper a modal integration method is proposed for analyzingthe dynamic behavior of multi-link planar flexible manipulators. Anon-linear finite element method is employed to derive theequations of motion in terms of a mixed set of generalizedcoordinates of the manipulator with rigid links and deformationparameters that characterize flexible deformations of the links.Using a perturbation method the vibrational motion of themanipulator is modeled as a first-order perturbation of thenon-linear nominal rigid link motion. For that purpose theflexible dynamic manipulator model is split into two parts. Arigidified model describes the nominal rigid link motion. Alinear system linearized about the nominal trajectory describesthe vibrational motion. In order to reduce the dimension of thelinearized system, a modal reduction technique is proposed. Thenmodal integration can be applied using only a small number of lowfrequency modes. The mode-acceleration concept is used to accountfor the pseudo static contribution of the high frequency modes.Applied to the motion of a manipulator mechanism the method isreferred to as adaptive modal integration since thetime-varying nature of the mode shape functions is taken intoaccount.A flexible two-link manipulator is analyzed to illustrate theperformance of the solution method. Comparisons between solutionsutilizing non-linear and perturbation analyzes with and withoutmodal integration show a good agreement. The purpose of this study was to investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of colon cancer metastases in rat liver at 7 T. A dedicated RF microstrip coil of novel design was built in order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and, in combination with respiratory triggering, to minimize motion artifacts. T1- and T2-weighted MR imaging was performed to follow tumor growth. T1-weighted images provided a good anatomical delineation of the liver structure, while the best contrast between metastases and normal liver tissue was achieved with T2-weighted images.Measurements of T1 and T2 relaxation times were performed with inversion recovery FLASH and Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill and inversion recovery FLASH imaging sequences, respectively, for quantitative MR characterization of metastases. Both the T1 and T2 of the metastases were significantly higher than those of normal liver tissue. Further, an increase in the T1 relaxation time of the metastases was observed with tumor growth. These findings suggest that quantitative in vivo MR characterization provides information on tumor development and possibly response to therapy, though additional studies are needed to elucidate the correlation between the changes in relaxation times and tumor microenvironment. 相似文献

A negotiation between agents is typically an incomplete information game, where the agents initially do not know their opponent’s preferences or strategy. This poses a challenge, as efficient and effective negotiation requires the bidding agent to take the other’s wishes and future behavior into account when deciding on a proposal. Therefore, in order to reach better and earlier agreements, an agent can apply learning techniques to construct a model of the opponent. There is a mature body of research in negotiation that focuses on modeling the opponent, but there exists no recent survey of commonly used opponent modeling techniques. This work aims to advance and integrate knowledge of the field by providing a comprehensive survey of currently existing opponent models in a bilateral negotiation setting. We discuss all possible ways opponent modeling has been used to benefit agents so far, and we introduce a taxonomy of currently existing opponent models based on their underlying learning techniques. We also present techniques to measure the success of opponent models and provide guidelines for deciding on the appropriate performance measures for every opponent model type in our taxonomy. 相似文献
