A comprehensive investigation was carried out to study hydrodynamics aspects of secondary air injection in circulating fluidized beds. This article presents modeling and results of computational fluid dynamics simulations of gas-solid flow in the riser section of a laboratory-scale (ID = 0.23 m, height = 7.6 m) circulating fluidized bed with a radial secondary air injector. The gas-solid flow model is based on the two-fluid (Eulerian-Eulerian) approach, where both gas and solids phases are treated as interpenetrating continua. A granular kinetic theory model is used to describe the solids phase stresses. The simulation results are compared with measured pressure drop and axial particle velocity profiles; reasonable agreement is obtained. Qualitatively, excellent agreement is obtained in predicting the increase in solids volume fraction below secondary air ports, the accumulation of solids around the center of the riser due to momentum of secondary air jets, and the absence of the solids down-flow near the wall above the secondary air injection ports, which are the prominent features of secondary air injection observed in the experiments.  相似文献

This paper describes the Multi-Radio Diversity (MRD) wireless system, which uses path diversity to improve loss resilience in wireless local area networks (WLANs). MRD coordinates wireless receptions among multiple radios to improve loss resilience in the face of path-dependent frame corruption over the radio. MRD incorporates two techniques to recover from bit errors and lower the loss rates observed by higher layers, without consuming much extra bandwidth. The first technique is frame combining, in which multiple, possibly erroneous, copies of a given frame are combined together in an attempt to recover the frame without retransmission. The second technique is a low-overhead retransmission scheme called request-for-acknowledgment (RFA), which operates above the link layer and below the network layer to attempt to recover from frame combining failures. We present an analysis that determines how the parameters for these algorithms should be chosen. We have designed and implemented MRD as a fully functional WLAN infrastructure based on 802.11a. We evaluate the MRD system under several different physical configurations, using both UDP and TCP, and measured throughput gains up to 3× over single radio communication schemes employing 802.11’s autorate adaptation scheme. Allen Miu received his Ph.D. degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006 and is currently a wireless systems architect at Ruckus Wireless, Inc. He received his S.M. in Computer Science from MIT and a B.Sc. with highest honors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley. He previously worked on the Cricket Indoor Location System and was a research intern at Microsoft Research, Redmond in 2000 and Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, Palo Alto in 2002. His research interests include wireless networks, location systems, mobile computing, and embedded systems. Hari Balakrishnan is an Associate Professor in the EECS Department and a member of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT. His research interests is in the area of networked computer systems. In addition to many widely cited papers, several systems developed as part of his research are available in the public domain. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1998 and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) in 1993. His honors include an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship (2002), an NSF CAREER Award (2000), the ACM doctoral dissertation award for his work on reliable data transport over wireless networks (1998), and seven award-winning papers at various top conferences and journals, including the IEEE Communication Society’s William R. Bennett Prize (2004). He has also received awards for excellence in teaching and research at MIT (Spira, Junior Bose, and Harold Edgerton faculty achievement awards). C. Emre Koksal received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara in 1996. He received his S.M. and Ph.D. degrees from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1998 and 2002 respectively. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Networks and Mobile Systems Group in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT until 2003. Since then he has been a senior researcher jointly in the Laboratory for Computer Communications and the Laboratory for Information Theory at EPFL, Switzerland. His general areas of interest are wireless communications, computer networks, information theory, stochastic processes and financial economics. He also has a certificate on Financial Technology from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.  相似文献

Quality-Aware Routing Metrics for Time-Varying Wireless Mesh Networks   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
This paper considers the problem of selecting good paths in a wireless mesh network. It is well-known that picking the path with the smallest number of hops between two nodes often leads to poor performance, because such paths tend to use links that could have marginal quality. As a result, quality-aware routing metrics are desired for networks that are built solely from wireless radios. Previous work has developed metrics (such as ETX) that work well when wireless channel conditions are relatively static (DeCouto , 2003), but typical wireless channels experience variations at many time-scales. For example, channels may have low average packet loss ratios, but with high variability, implying that metrics that use the mean loss ratio will perform poorly. In this paper, we describe two new metrics, called modified expected number of transmissions (mETX) and effective number of transmissions (ENT) that work well under a wide variety of channel conditions. In addition to analyzing and evaluating the performance of these metrics, we provide a unified geometric interpretation for wireless quality-aware routing metrics. Empirical observations of a real-world wireless mesh network suggest that mETX and ENT could achieve a 50% reduction in the average packet loss rate compared with ETX  相似文献

In this letter, a new floating inductance simulator circuit is presented. The proposed structure consists of only one grounded capacitor without any external resistors and two different active elements. The active elements are dual-output current-controlled current conveyor (DO-CCCII) and operational transconductance amplifier (OTA). The proposed inductance simulator can be tuned electronically by changing the biasing current of the DO-CCCIIs or by changing the current of the OTA. Moreover, the circuit does not require any conditions of component matching. It has a good sensitivity performance with respect to tracking errors. As an application, the proposed inductance simulator is used to construct a fourth-order resistively terminated LC band-pass filter. The theoretical analysis is verified by the SPICE simulation results.  相似文献

Six new second order band-pass filter configurations using only a single current-controlled current differencing buffered amplifier (CC-CDBA) are proposed. Further, the proposed filters also have a minimum number of external electronic components. They realize current-mode, voltage-mode and transadmittance-mode filter characteristics. The quality factor and natural frequency can be adjusted electronically without changing the values of the passive components. The proposed filters use a minimum number of passive elements (two or three). There is no second order active filter structure which uses two passive components and one active component in the literature. The validity of the proposed filters is verified through PSpice simulations.  相似文献

Journal 48, 2426-2443) to accurately predict several flow parameters in pipe flow was tested.Good agreement between simulation and experimental results (radial profiles of gas holdup, turbulence intensity, and local Sauter bubble diameter) was achieved without the use of empirically derived relationships (such as Drift flux) by adjusting a single parameter which accounts for the deviation in the coalescence behaviour of tap water from that of pure water. The approach adopted in this investigation may thus be applicable to more complex hydrodynamic situations such as those encountered in mechanically agitated tanks and the need for extensive experimental testing may be replaced by single measurement of the effect interfacial properties have on coalescence rates.  相似文献

A new formulation for multifrequency electromagnetic scattering problems involving homogeneous or inhomogeneous bodies is introduced and discussed. The formulation is developed using the shifted-frequency internal equivalence in the construction of the internal equivalence in the scattering problem. With this approach, the equivalent currents for the internally equivalent problem radiate a chosen fixed frequency which is different from the frequency of the incident wave. These equivalent currents are functions of the incident and shifted frequencies, material parameters, and the total field inside the body and on its boundary. A combination of this internally equivalent problem with an externally equivalent one, so as to match the tangential fields at the boundary of the body, results in the new formulation. The formulation and its application to generate multifrequency data using internal data generated at a single frequency in a volume-surface integral-equation approach utilizing the method of moments in the solution are explained and exemplified using a simple inhomogeneous slab problem  相似文献

This study aims to prove the complexation of cefpodoxime proxetil (CP) by hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) in the presence of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na CMC), and makes a comparison of commercial tablets by dissolution and antimicrobial activity studies. The CP--HP-β-CD complex was prepared by kneading method and characterized by SEM, FTIR and DSC. The solubility method was used to investigate the effect of HP-β-CD and Na CMC on the solubility of CP. The complex tablets were prepared using direct compression method. Dissolution studies were performed with complex tablets and commercial tablets in pH 1.2, 4.5, 6.8 and 7.4 buffer solutions. It was observed that complexation occurred in all formulations, and HP-β-CD is able to increase CP solubility and dissolution rate of CP was improved from complex tablets, when compared with commercial tablets. Furthermore, the antimicrobial activity studies revealed that the CP--HP-β-CD complex and complex tablets were shown to have more effective antimicrobial activity than commercial tablets. It is evident from the results that complexation with HP-β-CD in the presence of Na CMC is feasible way to prepare a more efficient tablet formulation with improved dissolution and antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

In this article, a general all‐pole current transfer function synthesis procedure using current backward transconductance amplifiers (CBTAs) is proposed. The proposed configuration uses n current backward transconductance amplifiers and n grounded capacitors as the only type of passive elements. The circuit is eligible to realize any all‐pole transfer characteristics with a given strictly Hurwitz (stable) denominator polynomial. Further, it is straightforward to find the values of the passive elements from the coefficients of this polynomial by using the Routh–Hurwitz algorithm as in the realization of a two‐element kind passive network synthesis. In this sense and as far as the author's knowledge, it is the only active structure that can be synthesized like a passive two‐element kind Cauer circuit.
