A technique to overcome pattern dependence in semiconductor-optical-amplifier-based wavelength converters is presented. The technique is based on a careful selection of red- and blue-shifted spectral components having complementary pattern effects in the output spectrum of a wavelength-converted signal. Significant signal quality improvements are reported at a bit rate of 40 Gb/s.  相似文献

We demonstrate the characterization of optical sources with high sensitivity, high temporal resolution, and phase sensitivity using linear optical sampling. Eye diagrams and constellation diagrams are reconstructed using the interference of the source under test with a train of sampling pulses. This concept is implemented using a waveguide optical hybrid, which splits and recombines the sources and adjusts the phase between the recombined signals to provide optimal detection. This diagnostic is used to characterize on-off keyed (OOK) waveforms at rates up to 640 Gb/s and various phase-shift keyed (PSK) signals at 10 and 40 Gb/s.  相似文献

A novel approach of a parametric stochastic radio channel model describes the dispersive nature of the wave propagation in indoor and outdoor environments with regard to delay and incidence angle. Effects of large-scale fluctuations are considered, too. Channel dispersion is mathematically denoted by the delay-angle spread function which results from the coherent superposition of the contributions arising from a certain number of multipath components (MPC). A classification of the propagation scenarios can be achieved by means of their topological properties. Local parameters defining the instantaneous constellation of the impinging MPC as well as global parameters giving a statistical characterization of the propagation environment (PE) are derived and form the elements of the channel model. This paper focuses on two indoor PE characterized by a line-of-sight (LOS) and a nonline-of-sight (NLOS) connection between the transmitter and receiver, respectively. Measurements in the 24 GHz range (ISM band) are presented to demonstrate the physical properties of the propagation process in both PE and to determine their global parameters. LOS scenarios show "discrete" MPC arising from specular reflections. In case of a NLOS situation the MPC exhibit a clustering pattern due to building and wall structures which can be statistically described by means of a cluster model, an extension of the previously given modeling approach.  相似文献

In a survey throughout Switzerland 7.455 general practitioners and psychiatrists were mailed a questionnaire addressing topics in sexual medicine with regard to antidepressant medication, 940 completed questionnaires (response rate 12.5%) were evaluated. 77.6% of the responders agree that knowledge in sexual medicine is important or very important. Only one half of the physicians judge their competence in sexual medicine as fair or good. There are differences in sexual history taking between general practitioners and psychiatrists; the latter addressing more frequently sexual medicine related questions. Sexual dysfunction before and during therapy with antidepressants is observed less frequently than reported in other studies. Only half of the physicians counsel their patients when sexual dysfunction occur during therapy. Treatment strategies of antidepressant induced sexual side effects are rarely seen. The results emphasize the importance of knowledge and competence in sexual medicine for general practitioners and psychiatrists, both showing interest in continuing education on this topic.  相似文献

QUADOS, a Concerted Action of the European Commission, has promoted an intercomparison aimed at evaluating the use of computational codes for dosimetry in radiation protection and medical physics. This intercomparison was open to all users of radiation transport codes. Eight problems were selected for their relevance to the radiation dosimetry community, five of which involved photon and proton transport. This paper focuses on the analysis of the photon and charged particle problems. The neutron problems were presented in a paper at the NEUDOS9 conference.  相似文献

Conversion coefficients that depend on altitude, cutoff rigidity and solar activity were developed and introduced in the European Program Package for the Calculation of Aviation Route Doses (EPCARD). A set of specially chosen long-distance flights were used to compare the new particle effective doses and ambient dose equivalents with those calculated using the previous averaged constant conversion coefficients. The data show very good agreement to each other. The dose differences for the chosen flights are <11%, for typical civil flight levels.  相似文献

This paper examines the potential effects of Germany’s feed-in tariff policy for small roof-top solar PV systems installed between 2009 and 2030. Employing a partial equilibrium approach, we evaluate the policy by weighing the benefits from induced learning and avoided environmental externalities against the social costs of promoting residential PV. We use a dynamic optimization model that maximizes social welfare by accounting for learning-by-doing, technology diffusion, and yield-dependent demand. We find a wide range of effects on welfare, from net social costs of 2014 million € under a “business as usual” scenario to 7586 million € of net benefits under the positive prospects of PV’s development. Whereas the “business as usual” scenario underestimates actual price reductions, the positive scenario mirrors recent price developments and feed-in tariffs in the German residential PV market.  相似文献
