First-order polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) compensation by means of a polarization controller and a differential delay line is not sufficient to guarantee error-free transmission for 40-Gb/s channels when higher order effects severely increase signal distortion. Higher order mitigation is possible by cascading more than one first-order block. However, only two-stage or three-stage devices remain simple enough to be actually controlled. The performance of such higher order PMD compensators is evaluated by means of numerical simulations. Two different feedback signals have been used, demonstrating that first-order and higher order PMD distortion of nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) pulses at 40 Gb/s can be strongly mitigated for instantaneous values of the differential group delay (DGD) up to the bit slot, when the compensator is properly controlled.  相似文献

An objective of experiments and finite element simulations was to check the stiffness, the strength and the fatigue resistance of the attachment of the First Wall panels onto a shield block of blanket modules according to the ITER 2001 design. The panel has a poloidal key at the rear side (in so-called option A with the rear access bolting) and it is attached by means of special studs located on a key-way in the shield block. Special device for a test of stud tensile pre-load relaxation during a thermal cycling was developed. True-to-scale panels, the shield block mock-up and simplified studs were fabricated and the assembly was loaded alternatively by radial moment, poloidal force or poloidal moment simulating the loading during off-normal plasma operations. Thermal cycling led to an acceptable stud pre-load relaxation. Mechanical cycling caused neither the pre-load relaxation nor the loss of the contact in the key-way nor a damage of the attachment system. The combination of poloidal moment and radial force during vertical displacement events (VDEs) seems to be a most dangerous case because it could lead to the loss of the key–key-way contact.  相似文献

A present topic of high interest in magnetic fusion is the “gap” between near-term and long-term concepts for high heat flux components (HHFC), and in particular for divertors. This paper focuses on this issue with the aim of characterizing the international status of current HHFC design concepts for ITER and describing the different technologies needed in the designs being developed for fusion power plants. Critical material and physics aspects are highlighted while evaluating the current readiness level of long-term concepts, identifying the design and R&D gaps, and discussing ways to bridge them.  相似文献

In the engineering design activity of international thermonuclear experimental reactor (ITER), stainless steels are being considered as candidates materials for several module type structures. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) technique is expected for the fabrication of these modules. Stainless steel powders are simultaneously consolidated as mono-material block or/and joined in bi-material module.This paper reviews the manufacturing stages, non-destructive examination and the developments of the HIP bonded joints of 316L SS (powder and solid) for application to the ITER shield blanket.It is well known that the powder surface oxidation negatively influences the impact toughness of raw material and joints consolidated by this way. In order to get acceptable mechanical properties of materials, a study on the effect of reducing the powder oxygen content has been launched. To evaluate susceptibility to the oxygen content of HIPed joint specimens, tensile and toughness tests have been performed.From this study, optimal conditions of HIP were fitted and the influence of oxygen was mastered to obtain good mechanical properties of the consolidated powder material as well as for HIPed junction.  相似文献

The development of wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) all-optical transport networks is an interesting solution to increase the capacity of long-haul transmission systems and to solve the route-exhaust problems of metropolitan networks, driving down the cost of that traffic. Routing can be achieved using a transparent device able to select and interchange wavelengths, such as an all-optical wavelength converter. In this paper, an optical transport network over an embedded link located between Rome and Pomezia in Italy is emulated. The transmission has been realized along a WDM, 5/spl times/100 km long, dispersion managed link at 40 Gb/s. The in-line rerouting process has been controlled by means of an all-optical wavelength converter realized with a periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide. Moreover, a polarization-independent scheme for the converter has been exploited to allow the in-line signal processing. This scheme is based on the counterpropagation of TE and TM signal components along the same guide and results extremely compact. In this paper it is demonstrated that wavelength conversion and rerouting add no penalty with respect to the simple transmission along the embedded cable. This result seems to be another step toward the feasibility of true all-optical networks.  相似文献

A Research and Development program for the ITER Blanket-First Wall has been implemented in Europe to provide input data for the manufacture of the full-scale production components. In this frame, FW mock-ups have been fabricated according to ITER FW design requirements.In order to define acceptance criteria for non-destructive examination (NDE) for the series production, FW mock-ups (FWMU) representative of ITER FW are manufactured with calibrated defects to be validated by heat flux tests to assess the critical defect dimensions able to degrade fatigue performance and lifetime, when located at Be/CuCrZr joint corners and beryllium tile edges, and at the CuCrZr/CuCrZr and CuCrZr/316L SS joints.In order to create the defects of given dimensions, two techniques were studied: alumina and zirconia coating using a PVD technique in one hand; and on the another hand alumina and quartz thicker inserts.The paper describes the different approaches used to manufacture test samples with calibrated defects, before applying on FW mock-ups, and related non-destructive examination (NDE) by ultrasonic examination (UT). High heat flux (HHF) testing is not part of this work.  相似文献
