Summary The influence of draw ratio on macroscopic and crystallographic density of polyethylene with different initial morphologies, has been investigated by solid-state extrusion. An initial drop followed by an increase in macroscopic density as a function of draw ratio has been observed. Since precision X-ray measurements of unit cell parameters showed no variation of crystallographic density, it was concluded that plastic deformation of polyethylene upon drawing proceeds with a decrease of the degree of crystallinity. This tutorial contribution explains how digital equalization permits very high transmission rates, even with severe channels, by adaptive (real time) correction of the distortion. Equalizers are in general digital filters. Transversal equalizers are only suitable for mild channels. In data transmission, where symbols have discrete levels, severe channels can be equalized by adding a recursive path that is filled in with detected symbols. Engineers have realized optimal equalizers for more than twenty years thanks to the adaptive tracking of the channel time variations, at a very low computational cost. However adaptation requires the periodic transmission of a training sequence deprived of information content. This supervised learning technique is acceptable only in an end-to-end communication system. The most recent equalization methods are usable in multiuser systems such as networks, broadcasted communications, etc., because they employ self-learning or unsupervised equalization. Then adaptation is controlled by the very information data flow. It only takes advantage of an a priori statistical knowledge on the emitted data, e.g. their whiteness, a property that is ensured thanks to jamming. An analysis is presented of the causes of the accumulation of quantizing noise found in the transient state for successive CCITT adaptive differential pulse-code-modulation (ADPCM) transcoders connected synchronously. By decoupling the predictor and quantizer effect it is proved that, owing to a self-stabilization phenomenon, narrowband inputs cause local instabilities in the predictor of the jointly adaptive autoregressive moving-average-prediction/quantization used in the ADPCM 32-kb/s algorithm. Despite the assured global stability, these local instabilities are not synchronized at the encoder and its preceding decoder, and a mistracking occurs which creates quantizing noise accumulation. The tracking is then shown to be very sensitive to predictor/quantizer interaction. The discontinuities introduced in the standardized adaptive quantizer extend the mistracking problem to wideband inputs. In view of the recent increased interest in chromium based materials, the thin layer activation of chromium has been studied. This paper considers relative activity as a function of depth for the deuteron induced reaction in natural chromium. The presented results are based on calculations using computer codes and experimental verification using the stacked foil technique and electropolishing of activated bulk samples. A very good agreement of the various methods was obtained. It is shown that using 10 MeV deuterons, a reasonable homogeneous activation over 120 μm can be obtained. 相似文献

The effects of a prolonged administration of bradykinin (BK) and/or D-Arg, [Hyp3, D-Phe7]-BK, a specific antagonist of BK receptors (BK-A) (daily subcutaneous injections of 4 nmol/rat for 6 days) on the function of the pituitary-adrenocortical axis were investigated. BK did not change plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC), but markedly lowered that of corticosterone (PBC) and consequently induced a compensatory hypersecretion of ACTH by the pituitary gland. BK-A did not apparently affect the function and growth of the adrenal gland, but, when administered together with BK, markedly raised both PAC and PBC, and provoked a significant atrophy of the adrenal gland, probably due to loss of parenchymal cells. Taken together, these rather puzzling findings do not appear to provide clear evidence for the involvement of BK in the physiological regulation of adrenocortical growth and steroidogenic capacity in rats. 相似文献

Adaptive filtering gives simple iterative methods for extracting a useful signal by linearly filtering an observation correlated with this useful signal. When the observation contains past values of the filter output—as is the case for a recursive structure— the adaptive filter is a non linear operator which can generate complex behaviours even though adaptation is a standard derivative of the gradient algorithm. Such behaviours are observed in a particular case : theArma adaptive prediction with a sinusoidal input. A slow adaptation speed involves a quasi-periodic behaviour due to the locally unstable character of the predictor. This phenomenon called selfstabilization persists as the adaptation speed increases. Its study is more complicated : the behaviour becomes chaotic. The contamination of consumer products, e.g. food, during production, storage and/or transport, due to release of chemicals caused by contact with technical components is of some concern. Various methods can be used to study the release of these chemicals. These include those using radiotracers, such as thin layer activation (TLA). A dedicated facility combining TLA with electrochemical tests is presented. Its use is illustrated with Ni and Cr release during electrochemical testing of 316L stainless steel in a glucose solution. TLA offers various advantages, which include area selectivity, high sensitivity, and the possibility for in situ and on-line monitoring of elements. Due to the complementarity of TLA with the conventional electrochemical methods it contributes to a better understanding of the underlying release processes. Many studies have been carried out on two-phase flow heat transfer in channels with hydraulic diameter bigger than 6 mm, but relatively little work has been done for small diameter channels in the meso and compact range (diameter from 0.1 to 3 mm). The use of exchangers with small channels in refrigeration units, which are very numerous besides, could bring a significant reduction of the internal volume of the exchanger, and therefore diminish the refrigerant charge of the whole refrigerating system. One can imagine the interest to widen knowledge on the flow and the heat transfer in small-diameter tubes. This paper examine the thermal behavior of refrigerants boiling in small pipes. The correlations available for in-tube evaporation heat transfer coefficient are discussed and evaluated, when possible, and new research areas of relevance than can contribute to expand the use of small-diameter channels evaporators in refrigeration units are suggested. 相似文献
