Chromium stearate and chromium acetylacetonate are very active catalysts both for the oxidation of hydrocarbons by molecular oxygen and for the decomposition of organic hydroperoxides. During these reactions they also catalyze the oxidation of secondary alcohols to the corresponding ketones by organic hydroperoxides. From organic hydroperoxides and chromium(III)compounds chromium (VI) compounds are formed which are probably the effective agents oxidizing secondary alcohols to ketones.  相似文献

Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is a novel cardiac hormone secreted predominantly from the ventricle. We examined the plasma levels of BNP and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in 13 patients with aortic stenosis undergoing corrective surgery. Preoperative plasma BNP and ANP levels correlated highly with preoperative left ventricular end-systolic wall stress (ESS) (r = 0.96, p < 0.0001 and r = 0.95, p < 0.0001, respectively). Moreover, between preoperative and late postoperative states, the difference of the plasma levels of BNP and ANP correlated with the difference of ESS. In two patients with elevated ESS and quite high preoperative plasma BNP (> 1000 pg/ml), rapid decrease of the plasma level after operation was observed. These results suggest that synthesis and secretion of BNP and ANP are stimulated by the increase of left ventricular end-systolic wall stress in patients with aortic stenosis.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Heparin may have protective effects on postischemic vascular endothelial cell function that are distinct from its anticoagulant, antiplatelet, or anticomplement activity. We tested this hypothesis in isolated rat hindlimbs. METHODS: Isolated rat hindlimbs underwent 60 minutes of normothermic ischemia and 10 minutes of reperfusion. Potential heparin interaction with plasma-based proteins or cells was eliminated by perfusion of the hindlimbs with a nonrecirculated albumin-enriched crystalloid buffer. Endothelial function was assessed by measurement of endothelium-derived relaxing factor (EDRF) activity. Limbs perfused at constant pressure were subjected to increasing log dose infusions of acetylcholine and nitroprusside to measure endothelial-dependent (EDRF-mediated) and endothelial-independent vasoreactivity, respectively. Fifty limbs were divided into seven groups: two nonischemic groups (one with heparin) and five ischemia/reperfusion groups treated with increasing doses of heparin (0 to 1.0 U/ml perfusate). RESULTS: The nontreated ischemia/reperfusion group (n = 12) had a 46.2% reduction in endothelial-dependent vasodilation of the rat hindlimb when compared with the nonischemic control (n = 7, p < 0.05). Treatment with heparin 0.5 U/ml (n = 6) nearly abolished this attenuation of endothelial-dependent vasodilation (4.3% reduction, p = not significant vs nonischemic control). The endothelial protective effect of heparin was dose-dependent: groups treated with 0.25 U/ml (n = 6) and 0.1 U/ml heparin (n = 7) showed progressive impairment in postischemic EDRF-mediated vasodilation. Endothelial-independent vasodilation induced by nitroprusside was unchanged by ischemia/reperfusion or heparin treatment, which confirmed that the postischemic damage and its protection by heparin were specific to the endothelium. CONCLUSIONS: Heparin prevented postischemic endothelial cell dysfunction by a mechanism independent of its interactions with plasma-based proteins or cells. This nonanticoagulant protective effect may contribute to the salutary effects of heparinization during acute ischemic events.  相似文献

Wireless Video Sensor Networks (WVSNs7unding environmental information. Those sensor nodes can locally process the information and then wirelessly transmit it to the coordinator and to the sink to be further processed. As a consequence, more abundant video and image data are collected. In such densely deployed networks, the problem of data redundancy arises when information are gathered from neighboring nodes. To overcome this problem, one important enabling technology for WVSN is data aggregation, which is essential to be cost-efficient. In this paper, we propose a new approach for data aggregation in WVSN based on images and shot similarity functions. It is deployed on two levels: the video-sensor node level and the coordinator level. At the sensor node level the proposed algorithms aim at reducing the number of frames sensed by the sensor nodes and sent to the coordinator. At the coordinator level, after receiving shots from different neighbouring sensor nodes, the similarity between these shots is computed to eliminate redundancies and to only send the frames which meet a certain condition to the sink. The similarity between shots is evaluated based on their color, edge and motion information. We evaluate our approach on a live scenario and compare the results with another approach from the literature in terms of data reduction and energy consumption. The results show that the two approaches have a significant data reduction to reduce the energy consumption, thus our approach tends to overcome the other one in terms of reducing the energy consumption related to the sensing process, and to the transmitting process while guaranteeing the detection of all the critical events at the node and the coordinator levels.

An omnifont open-vocabulary OCR system for English and Arabic   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We present an omnifont, unlimited-vocabulary OCR system for English and Arabic. The system is based on hidden Markov models (HMM), an approach that has proven to be very successful in the area of automatic speech recognition. We focus on two aspects of the OCR system. First, we address the issue of how to perform OCR on omnifont and multi-style data, such as plain and italic, without the need to have a separate model for each style. The amount of training data from each style, which is used to train a single model, becomes an important issue in the face of the conditional independence assumption inherent in the use of HMMs. We demonstrate mathematically and empirically how to allocate training data among the different styles to alleviate this problem. Second, we show how to use a word-based HMM system to perform character recognition with unlimited vocabulary. The method includes the use of a trigram language model on character sequences. Using all these techniques, we have achieved character error rates of 1.1 percent on data from the University of Washington English Document Image Database and 3.3 percent on data from the DARPA Arabic OCR Corpus  相似文献

Curcumin is a natural bioactive component derived from the turmeric plant Curcuma longa, which exhibits a range of beneficial activities on human cells. Previously, an inhibitory effect of curcumin on platelets was demonstrated. However, it is unknown whether this inhibitory effect is due to platelet apoptosis or procoagulant platelet formation. In this study, curcumin did not activate caspase 3-dependent apoptosis of human platelets, but rather induced the formation of procoagulant platelets. Interestingly, curcumin at low concentration (5 µM) potentiated, and at high concentration (50 µM) inhibited ABT-737-induced platelet apoptosis, which was accompanied by inhibition of ABT-737-mediated thrombin generation. Platelet viability was not affected by curcumin at low concentration and was reduced by 17% at high concentration. Furthermore, curcumin-induced autophagy in human platelets via increased translocation of LC3I to LC3II, which was associated with activation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) kinase and inhibition of protein kinase B activity. Because curcumin inhibits P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in cancer cells and contributes to overcoming multidrug resistance, we showed that curcumin similarly inhibited platelet P-gp activity. Our results revealed that the platelet inhibitory effect of curcumin is mediated by complex processes, including procoagulant platelet formation. Thus, curcumin may protect against or enhance caspase-dependent apoptosis in platelets under certain conditions.  相似文献

This paper presents and discusses examples of mechanical inference problems which must be solved in order to construct effective mechanical speech understanding systems. The examples are taken from incremental simulations of a prototype speech understanding system which will use syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic information as well as acoustical and phonological information to mechanically “understand” continuous speech utterances.  相似文献
