Cytogenin, 8-hydroxy-3-hydroxymethyl-6-methoxyisocoumarin, has low cytotoxicity on murine and human tumour cells in vitro. It augments or suppresses phagocytosis of macrophages and lymphocyte proliferation. It has been reported that cytogenin has a potent inhibitory effect clinically on adjuvant arthritis in Lewis rats and on type II collagen-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. Our experimental findings provide evidence that cytogenin has beneficial effects on spontaneous polyarthritis in MRL/1 mice and pristane-induced arthritis in DBA/1J mice. The results suggest that the mode of the anti-arthritic action of cytogenin is different from those of NSAIDs; although the precise mode of action remains unclear, cytogenin may become an excellent therapeutic agent for rheumatoid arthritis. 相似文献

An acceleration method based on an idea that T. Whitted (Commun. ACM, vol.23, no.6 pp.343-349, June 1980) presented on ray tracing is discussed. He proposed making antialiased images by hierarchical adaptive oversampling. The present authors use hierarchical adaptive undersampling to reduce the number of pixels whose intensity must be calculated by ray tracing. To implement pixel-selected ray tracing (PSRT), homogeneous regions in images must first be found. Generally, adaptive undersampling can result in some image-quality defects, because small objects and parts of thin or wedge-shaped objects may disappear when they are located between the initially sampled pixels. PSRT has an improved algorithm that uses pixels with the correct object information from among the sampled pixels to find pixels with erroneous color and correct them. Moreover, PRST uses ray-object intersection trees for precise classification of the homogeneity of regions and for fast intensity calculation in homogeneous regions. In this paper, we propose a framework to develop general instruments for multimedia art creation. Recently, many attempts at creating multimedia art have been made with the aid of computer technology. However, a system for a certain artwork is usually dedicated to the artwork and cannot be applied to other artwork. After overviewing the prerequisites for a general multimedia instrument, we propose a framework for such a system. This framework is based on giving attention to common attributes among several multiple media. Moreover, we illustrate prototype instruments constructed in accordance with this framework. This paper describes our ongoing attempts to build a communityware system by presenting a project of providing digital assistants to support participants in an academic conference. We provided participants at the conference with a personal assistant system with mobile and ubiquitous computing technologies and facilitated communication among the participants. We also made online services available via the Web to encourage the participants to continue their relationships even after the conference. Roadside-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems have been proposed as part of ITS development to help achieve vehicle safety and realize more secure road traffic environments. In this article we first introduce several typical applications and their radio range requirements for vehicle safety communication systems to clarify the technical point of view. Then we show some field experiment results in an urban area in Tokyo to investigate and verify the radio propagation characteristics and the quality of communications by using a wireless radio prototype system. Finally, we conclude that the current prototype system has potential to fulfill the radio range requirements of vehicle safety communications, but there are still lots of issues that need to be addressed. 相似文献

Thin films plasma-polymerized from tetramethyltin was applied for CO gas sensor device. The films formed from tetramethyltin contains alkyl chains with organic tin moieties, and pyrolysis of them at 350–500°C yields carbonized films with SnO2 moieties. The electrical resistance for the films pyrolized at 350–500°C decreases in exposing to CO gas. The sensitivity, the ratio of the electrical resistance between in air and in CO atmosphere, is enhanced by catalytic actions of palladium chloride, specially in operation at low temperatures below 50°C. The gas sensitivity between CO and other gases such as ethanol, methane, and propane gases is good. The possible determination of CO gas concentration by the sensor device is in ranges from 10 to 1000 ppm. 相似文献

Pedestrian protection has played an important role for driver assistance systems. Our aim is to develop a video based driver assistance system for the detection of the potentially dangerous situation between the vehicle and pedestrian, in order to warn the driver. In this paper, we address the problem of detecting pedestrian in real-world scenes and estimation of the walking direction with a single camera from a moving vehicle. Considering all the available cues for predicting the possibility of collision is very important. The direction in which the pedestrian is facing is one of the most important cues predicting where the pedestrian may move in the future. So we first address the problem of single-frame pedestrian orientation estimation in real-world scenes. Then again, we estimate the pedestrian walking direction using multi-frame based on the result of single-frame orientation estimation. We propose a three-step method: pedestrian detection for single-frame step, orientation estimation for single-frame step and walking direction estimation for multi-frame step. To evaluate the proposed method in its robustness and accuracy, the experiments have been performed between numbers of images which is highly challenging uncontrolled conditions in real world. It shows a significant performance improvement in octant orientation estimation of about 64% accuracy in the orientation estimation step and achieved surprisingly good accuracy in estimating the walking direction against 212 targeted objects. 相似文献

A new multimedia system for musical and graphical expression called MusiKalscope contains subsystems that support computer-assisted jazz improvisation (RhyMe) and kaleidoscopic imagery (the lamascope).
