Thin films on aluminum-tungsten alloys were prepared by co-deposition of pure aluminum and pure tungsten, each sputtered by an independently controlled magnetron source, on glass and sapphire substrates. Completely amorphous films were obtained in the Al80W20-Al67W33 composition range. Passivity and corrosion behavior of amorphous Al-W alloys were investigated in 1 M deaerated hydrochloric acid solution using polarization and impedance spectroscopy measurements and have been correlated with the properties of pure alloy components. Tungsten and sputter-deposited Al-W thin films are inherently passive materials while aluminum undergoes pitting corrosion in hydrochloric acid solution. The passive film formed at the OCP on each alloy possesses excellent electric and dielectric properties comparable to those of the isolating film on tungsten. The absolute impedance increases with increasing tungsten content in the alloy. According to electrochemical polarization measurements, alloying Al with W in solid solution significantly enhances the material's resistance to pitting corrosion by shifting the breakdown potential above 2000 mV (Al67W33) and lowering the corrosion rate at the OCP by more than two orders of magnitude. The most likely mechanism explaining the passivity of amorphous Al-W alloys, the Solute Vacancy Interaction Model (SVIM), involves the formation of complexes between highly oxidized solute atoms (W+6) and mobile cation vacancies, which restrict the transport of Cl through the oxide film and inhibit its breakdown in hydrochloric acid solution. The role that film stress relaxation effects and microscopic defects in amorphous Al-W films, of the some composition, and deposited on various substrates play in their corrosion resistance is discussed.  相似文献

The analysis of recently collected wind data at five sites in Saudi Arabia namely, Dhulum, Arar, Yanbu, Gassim and Dhahran is presented. The five sites represent different geographically and climatologically conditions. The data collected over a period spanned between 1995 and 2002 with different collection periods for each site. Daily, monthly and frequency profiles of the wind speed at the sites showed that Dhulum and Arar sites have higher wind energy potential with annual wind speed average of 5.7 and 5.4 m/s and speeds higher than 5 m/s for 60 and 47% of the time, respectively. The two sites are candidates for remote area wind energy applications. The costal site's, i.e. Yanbu and Dhahran wind speed data indicated that the two sites have lower annual wind speed averages and wind blows at speed higher than 5 m/s during afternoon hours. That makes the two sites candidates for grid connected wind systems for electrical load peak shaving. The data of Gassim site showed that the site has the lowest wind energy potential compared to the others. The annual energy produced by a Nordex N43 wind machine is estimated to be 1080, 990, 730, 454 and 833 MWh for Dhulum, Arar, Yanbu, Gassim and Dhahran, respectively. The analysis showed that the estimated annual energy produced by the machine based on 10 min averaged data is 2.5% higher than the estimated energy based on 30 min averaged data.  相似文献

The collisional deactivation of the laser excited states A 2Sigma+(v' = 1, N' = 4, 12) of OH in a flame is studied by measurement of spectrally resolved fluorescence decays in the picosecond time domain. Quenching and depolarization rates, as well as vibrational energy-transfer (VET) and rotational energy-transfer (RET) rates are determined. An empirical model describes the temporal evolution of the quenching and VET rates that emerge from the rotational-state relaxation. Fitting this model to the measured 1-0 and 0-0 fluorescence decays yields the quenching and VET rates of the initially excited rotational state along with those that correspond to a rotationally equilibrated vibronic-state population. VET from the higher rotational state (N' = 12) shows a tendency for resonant transitions to energetic close-lying levels. RET is investigated by analysis of the temporal evolution of the 1-1 emission band. The observed RET is well described by the energy-corrected sudden-approximation theory in conjunction with a power-gap law.  相似文献

Pure copper, pure tungsten and amorphous Cu50W50 and Cu66W34 alloy films were deposited by the direct current magnetron sputtering technique on cooled glass substrates. The film microhardness has been investigated as a function of alloy composition and substrate potential bias during deposition. The microhardness exhibited a maximum at Cu concentrations close to 50 at%, similar to the case of completely miscible binary alloys. The ion bombardment caused by the negative substrate polarization increased the film microhardness. The annealing of the amorphous Cu–W films up to 250 °C in vacuum increased the film microhardness by 10–20% apparently owing to the formation of the W(Cu) crystalline phase dispersed within a predominantly amorphous film matrix.  相似文献

Experimental nanotips have shown significant improvement in the resolution performance of a cold field emission scanning electron microscope (SEM). Nanotip electron sources are very sharp electron emitter tips used as a replacement for the conventional tungsten field emission (FE) electron sources. Nanotips offer higher brightness and smaller electron source size. An electron microscope equipped with a nanotip electron gun can provide images with higher spatial resolution and with better signal-to-noise ratio. This could present a considerable advantage over the current SEM electron gun technology if the tips are sufficiently long-lasting and stable for practical use. In this study, an older field-emission critical dimension (CD) SEM was used as an experimental test platform. Substitution of tungsten nanotips for the regular cathodes required modification of the electron gun circuitry and preparation of nanotips that properly fit the electron gun assembly. In addition, this work contains the results of the modeling and theoretical calculation of the electron gun performance for regular and nanotips, the preparation of the SEM including the design and assembly of a measuring system for essential instrument parameters, design and modification of the electron gun control electronics, development of a procedure for tip exchange, and tests of regular emitter, sharp emitter and nanotips. Nanotip fabrication and characterization procedures were also developed. Using a "sharp" tip as an intermediate to the nanotip clearly demonstrated an improvement in the performance of the test SEM. This and the results of the theoretical assessment gave support for the installation of the nanotips as the next step and pointed to potentially even better performance. Images taken with experimental nanotips showed a minimum two-fold improvement in resolution performance than the specification of the test SEM. The stability of the nanotip electron gun was excellent; the tip stayed useful for high-resolution imaging for several hours during many days of tests. The tip lifetime was found to be several months in light use. This paper summarizes the current state of the work and points to future possibilities that will open when electron guns can be designed to take full advantage of the nanotip electron emitters.  相似文献

This paper presents the results of an analysis of the formation of an intermetallic bond between a ring carrier and an aluminum piston alloy. The ring carrier is made of austenitic cast iron (Ni-Resist) to increase the wear resistance of the first ring groove and is applied in highly loaded diesel engines. The most important thing is that the Ni-Resist (ferrous) must be bonded with a non-ferrous piston material during the casting of the piston. A metallographic investigation using an optical microscope in combination with the SEM/EDS analysis of the quality of the intermetallic bonding layer was done. The test results show that if the proper conditions are met, then the preparation of the ring carrier can be made successfully, as can the formation of the metal connection between the two materials of different qualities.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to fabricate antimicrobial calcium-alginate-based films containing the self-microemulsifying thyme essential oil (TEO) formulations using Tween 80 as the surfactant, and acetic (AA) or propionic (PA) acids as the cosurfactants. A Ca-alginate film containing nano-emulsified TEO as well as a neat Ca-alginate film were considered as the controls. The scanning electron microscopy micrographs showed a highly porous texture for SME films, which resulted in an increase in water vapor permeability and water absorption capacity of these films. The SME films released the TEO completely within 155 min and inhibited the growth of S. aureus and E. coli in in vitro antimicrobial tests. The population of S. aureus and E. coli reduced significantly in ground beef covered with SME films. The results of this study showed that self-microemulsifying TEO films could effectively increase the shelf life of ground beef by controlling its microbial population.  相似文献

We introduce the Sugeno integral and describe how it can be used to provide a weighted mean‐like aggregation of a collection of values drawn from the unit interval. We explain that the underlying measure provides information about the weights associated with the arguments. We provide an alternative view of the Sugeno integral that enables us to extend its use to situations in which the arguments in the aggregation are possibility distributions. We look at the application of the Sugeno integral to the formulation of decision functions in the case of multi‐criteria decision making. We focus on the situation where there exists some possibilistic uncertainty in our knowledge of criteria satisfactions by an alternative. We provide operational formulations for the calculation of some notable decision functions in the case of possibilistically uncertain criteria satisfactions.  相似文献
