We first demonstrate an integrated-optic device for a fibre laser Doppler velocimeter, which consists of a waveguide interferometer and a frequency shifter in z-propagation Ti-diffused LiNbO3. The device is also pigtailed with a single-mode fibre to pick up a Doppler-shifted signal. Using the fabricated device, the velocity of a moving object was successfully heterodyne-detected with a signal/noise ratio of 30dB. 相似文献

A myocardial 201TI SPECT examination was conducted both prior to and following surgery of two adult patients with an anomalous left coronary artery originating from the pulmonary artery (Bland-White-Garland syndrome). In this syndrome, the anterior wall is usually affected first. Preoperative examination demonstrated an inferoposterior perfusion defect. In both patients, the right coronary artery was markedly dilated, and a significant left-to-right shunt formation was observed. Both patients were diagnosed as possibly having coronary steal syndrome. A prolonged inadequate blood supply to the right coronary region may cause inferoposterior cardiomyopathy. In the postoperative examination, myocardial perfusion markedly improved in one patient whose preoperative SPECT showed redistribution in a delayed scan. Thallium-201 SPECT was therefore found to be useful in assessing both the preoperative and postoperative myocardial perfusion. 相似文献

It is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that the inversion symmetry of the diffraction pattern of a binary grating at normal incidence can be efficiently broken by the use of nonsymmetric profiles with wavelength-scale transverse features. Theoretically, binary gratings with two grooves (of unequal widths but with the same depth) within the period can deflect as much as ~80% of normally incident radiation into the minus first diffraction order when the deflection angle is 45°. 相似文献

Bioluminescence (BL) is an excellent optical readout for bioassays and molecular imaging. Herein, we accomplished new near infrared bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (NIR-BRET) templates for monitoring molecular events in cells with higher sensitivity. We first identified the best resonance energy donor for the NIR-BRET templates through the characterization of many coelenterazine (CTZ)–marine luciferase combinations. As a result, we found that NLuc–DBlueC and ALuc47–nCTZ combinations showed luminescence in the blue emission wavelength with excellent BL intensity and stability, for example, the NLuc–DBlueC and ALuc47–nCTZ combinations were 17-fold and 22-fold brighter than their second highest combinations, respectively, and were stably bright in living mammalian cells for at least 10 min. To harness the excellent BL properties to the NIR-BRET systems, NLuc and ALuc47 were genetically fused to fluorescent proteins (FPs), allowing large “blue-to-red” shifts, such as LSSmChe, LSSmKate2, and LSSmNep (where LSS means Large Stokes Shift). The excellent LSSmNep–NLuc combination showed approximately 170 nm large resonance energy shift from blue to red. The established templates were further utilized in the development of new NIR-BRET systems for imaging steroid hormone activities by sandwiching the ligand-binding domain of a nuclear receptor (NR-LBD) between the luciferase and the FP of the template. The NIR-BRET systems showed a specific luminescence signal upon exposure to steroid hormones, such as androgen, estrogen, and cortisol. The present NIR-BRET templates are important additions for utilizing their advantageous imaging of various molecular events with high efficiency and brightness in physiological samples. 相似文献

As a basis for the development of an artificial carbohydrate‐binding lectin, we chemically synthesized a domain of siglec‐7, a well‐characterized sialic‐acid‐binding lectin. The full polypeptide (127 amino acids) was constructed by sequential native chemical ligation (NCL) of five peptide segments. Because of poor cysteine availability for NCL, cysteine residues were introduced at suitable ligation sites; these cysteine residues were alkylated in order to mimic native glutamine or asparagine residues, or converted to an alanine residue by desulfurization after NCL. After folding the full‐length polypeptide, the sialic‐acid‐binding activity of the synthetic siglec‐7 was clearly demonstrated by STD NMR and ELISA experiments. We succeeded in the synthesis of siglec‐7 by installing three extra cysteine residues with side‐chain modifications and found that these modifications did not affect the binding activity. 相似文献

The accelerator-driven transmutation system has been studied at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute. This system is a hydrid system which consists of a high intensity accelerator, a spallation target and a subcritical core region. In the conceptual design study, two types of system concepts, sodium cooled and lead-bismuth cooled system, are being studied. In this study, we fucus on our lead-bismuth cooled accelerator-driven transmutation system to investigate basic characteristics. The High-Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) in Oarai, Japan, has the potential to demonstrate the production of hydrogen by steam reforming and using nuclear process heat as primary energy input. Particular safety aspects for such a combined nuclear/chemical complex have been investigated such as fire and explosion hazard at presence of flammable gases (LNG, H2, CO) near the reactor building. A methane vapor cloud in the open atmosphere or partially obstructed areas is highly unlikely to detonate and damage the reactor building. Theoretical assessments and experimental studies significant to the HTTR-steam reforming system, include the spreading and combustion behavior of cryogens and flammable gases providing the basis for a comprehensive safety analysis of the nuclear/chemical facility. 相似文献

In a proposed switching grating coupler (SGC), the grating period Lambda is chosen so that the SGC converts from a first-order grating coupler to a third-order distributed Bragg reflector by means of a small change in the guided mode index. The principle for switching the radiated wave power and the effective aperture of the SGC were experimentally confirmed by use of the thermo-optic effect of a polymer waveguide. The extinction of the peak intensity of the wave radiated by the SGC and collected by an external lens was measured to be 5 dB with a temperature change of 10 degrees. 相似文献

A third-order grating coupler with a grating period 3 times that of a first-order grating is discussed in terms of efficiency enhancement. A reflection film is integrated between the optical buffer layer and the substrate beneath the grating-guiding core. The power-distribution ratio for each diffracted wave depends on the optical buffer layer's thickness because of interference effects. The thickness is determined to suppress first- and second-order diffraction and to enhance the power distribution to the output air-radiation wave generated by third-order diffraction. A demonstrator was designed and examined at a wavelength of 0.82 mum. The measured output coupling efficiency was 40%, whereas the theoretical prediction was 60%. 相似文献
