Multishell Carrier Transport in Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Understanding carrier transport in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and their networks is important for harnessing CNTs for device applications. Here, we report multishell carrier transport in individual multiwalled CNTs, and films of randomly dispersed multiwalled CNTs, as a function of electric field and temperature. Electrical measurements and first-principles density functional theory calculations indicate transport across CNT shells. Intershell conduction occurs across an energy barrier range of 60-250 meV in individual CNTs, and ~ 60 meV in CNT networks. In both cases, the conductance behavior can be explained based upon field-enhanced carrier injection and defect-enhanced transport, as described by the Poole-Frenkel model.  相似文献

We consider a geographic optimization problem in which we are given a region R, a probability density function f(?) defined on R, and a collection of n utility density functions u i (?) defined on R. Our objective is to divide R into n sub-regions R i so as to “balance” the overall utilities on the regions, which are given by the integrals \(\iint _{R_{i}}f(x)u_{i}(x)\, dA\). Using a simple complementary slackness argument, we show that (depending on what we mean precisely by “balancing” the utility functions) the boundary curves between optimal sub-regions are level curves of either the difference function u i (x) ? u j (x) or the ratio u i (x)/u j (x). This allows us to solve the problem of optimally partitioning the region efficiently by reducing it to a low-dimensional convex optimization problem. This result generalizes, and gives very short and constructive proofs of, several existing results in the literature on equitable partitioning for particular forms of f(?) and u i (?). We next give two economic applications of our results in which we show how to compute a market-clearing price vector in an aggregate demand system or a variation of the classical Fisher exchange market. Finally, we consider a dynamic problem in which the density function f(?) varies over time (simulating population migration or transport of a resource, for example) and derive a set of partial differential equations that describe the evolution of the optimal sub-regions over time. Numerical simulations for both static and dynamic problems confirm that such partitioning problems become tractable when using our methods.  相似文献

In this paper, an algorithm to solve the profit based unit commitment problem (PBUCP) under deregulated environment has been proposed using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) intelligent technique to maximize the GENCOs profit. Deregulation in power sector increases the efficiency of electricity production and distribution, offer lower prices, higher quality, a secure and a more reliable product. The proposed algorithm has been developed from the view point of a generation company wishing to maximize its profit in the deregulated power and reserve markets. UC schedule depends on the market price in the deregulated market. In deregulated environment utilities are not required to meet the demand. GENCO can consider a schedule that produce less than the predicted load demand and reserve but creates maximum profit. More number of units are committed when the market price is higher. When more number of generating units are brought online more power is generated and participated in the deregulated market to get maximum profit. This paper presents a new approach of GENCOs profit based unit commitment using PSO technique in a day ahead competitive electricity markets. The profit based unit commitment problem is solved using various PSO techniques such as Chaotic PSO (CPSO), New PSO (NPSO) and Dispersed PSO (DPSO) and the results are compared. Generation, spinning reserve, non-spinning reserve, and system constraints are considered in proposed formulation. The proposed approach has been tested on IEEE-30 bus system with 6 generating units as an individual GENCO. The results obtained are quite encouraging and useful in deregulated market. This paper reports a computer-aided system for on-line monitoring of dielectric dissipation factor tan δ, and capacitance of HV apparatus. The method employs the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) which is performed on the scaled down analog voltage and current signals obtained using a digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) board. The results are displayed using the graphic user interface implemented with graphic (G) language, This technique uses optimal values of measurement parameters as indicated by software simulation and laboratory tests. Field tests were conducted at Manitoba Hydro's Dorsey station to evaluate the insulation of a 230 kV current transformer unit using the developed system  相似文献

The zero-delay wavenumber spectrum (ZDWS) estimation approach is proposed for the analysis of array ECG signals as an alternative to isopotential mapping (IM). The ZDWS approach is advantageous because the key parameters related to cardiac electrical activation can be easily identified in the frequency-wavenumber domain. The method explains the data as the sum of wide-band planewaves projected onto the array plane and provides an accurate estimate of their number and bearing. The slowness distribution of each of the planewaves is then obtained by estimating their temporal spectrum. Simulated data and experimental ECG data collected from a canine epicardial preparation during control and localized myocardial ischemic condition'are analyzed via the ZDWS and IM. It is demonstrated that the ZDWS methodology provides a means for an objective, robust, and repetitive characterization of the array data which can explain the modulation in the cardiac activation wavefront produced by an area of localized coronary artery occlusion.  相似文献

Gamma irradiation, alone and in combination with sulphitation, was tested for preventing the browning and maintaining the quality attributes of the white button mushrooms. Mushrooms were subjected to treatment of gamma irradiation in the dose range of 0.5–2.0 kGy and to combination treatments of sulphitation at a concentration of 0.1% potassium metabisulphite (KMS) and gamma irradiation (dose range 0.5–2.0 kGy) followed by storage at 10 ± 2 °C (RH 85%). A dose of 2.0 kGy significantly reduced the weight loss, prevented browning and mould growth. Cap and veil opening of mushrooms was delayed by 9 days and shelf life was extended by 12 days at a dose level of 2.0 kGy. Sulphitation alone at a concentration of 0.1% KMS was effective in controlling browning only upto 3 days, beyond which both browning and cap opening increased significantly ( P  ≤ 0.05) and the samples were unacceptable after 6 days of storage. No synergistic effect of sulphitation and irradiation was observed with respect to the shelf-life extension of mushroom.  相似文献

This paper presents a 3-dimensional (3-D) frequency-wavenumber spectrum estimation (FWSE) approach to the analysis of ECG signals. This approach treats the data as ‘wavefronts plus noise’ and provides a means of estimating key parameters associated with propagating wavefronts. A high resolution technique based on minimum variance representations of 3-D data fields (3-D CLS technique) is employed to obtain the FWSE. Computer simulation results that demonstrate the high resolution property of the technique when compared with the maximum-likelihood method of Capon are presented. Results of application of the technique to epicardial ECG data collected from a sensor array are also presented and discussed.  相似文献

The rate of autoxidation of mixtures of triunsaturated glycerides and tridecanoin was decreased by randomization with sodium methoxide. A theory, based on the hexagonal packing of glyceride acyl chains in the molten state, was proposed which accounted for the observed efforts on the rate of autoxidation. The theory suggests that the concentration of the unsaturated fatty acids on the 2-position of glycerol should stabilize a fat towards autoxidation. This was confirmed with experiments on natural fats.  相似文献

Self-similar random fields are of interest in various areas of image processing since they fit certain types of natural patterns and textures. Current treatments of self-similarity in continuous two-dimensional (2-D) space use a definition that is a direct extension of the one-dimensional definition, which requires invariance of the statistics of a random process to time scaling. Current discrete-space 2-D approaches do not consider scaling, but, instead, are based on ad hoc formulations, such as digitizing continuous random fields. In this paper, we show that the current statistical self-similarity definition in continuous space is restrictive and provide an alternative, more general definition. We also provide a formalism for discrete-space statistical self-similarity that relies on a new scaling operator for discrete images. Within the new framework, it is possible to synthesize a wider class of discrete-space self-similar random fields and texture images.  相似文献
