Wavelength tunable CW Raman fibre ring laser operating at 1486-1551nm

A continuous-wave, wavelength tunable Raman fibre ring laser has been demonstrated operating at 1485-1551 nm with peak output power of over 400 mW, pumped at 1420 nm by a 1.58 W fibre laser     

Picosecond soliton pulse-duration-selectable source based onadiabatic compression in Raman amplifier

Raman amplified 10 ps soliton pulses generated directly from an electroabsorption modulator based source have been adiabatically compressed in a Raman fibre amplifier, giving pulse duration tunable sources of 10-1 ps at 10 GHz and average powers up to 650 mW, dependent on the magnitude of the amplification     

Dual wavelength pumped L- and U-band Raman amplifier

A Raman fibre amplifier providing small signal gain of over 30 dB in the U-band has been demonstrated. In addition, a dual wavelength pumped Raman amplifier with broad flattened gain (ripple better than 1.5 dB) over the spectral range 1600-1670 nm is presented     

Wavelength and duration tunable subpicosecond source usingadiabatic Raman compression

A wavelength and pulse duration tunable source of subpicosecond pulses has been demonstrated at a repetition rate of 10 GHz using adiabatic Raman compression of 10 ps pulses from an external cavity laser and an electro-absorption modulator     

Multi-wavelength, continuous wave fibre Raman ring laser operatingat 1.55 μm

A four wavelength continuous wave, fibre Raman ring laser has been demonstrated at room temperature using fibre Bragg gratings as the wavelength-selective elements with applications as a multi-wavelength source for optical fibre telecommunications. Channel spacings were ~5 nm between 1551.6 and 1565.1 nm with 14.9 dBm total output power     

DWDM 40G transmission over trans-pacific distance (10 000 km) using CSRZ-DPSK, enhanced FEC, and all-Raman-amplified 100-km UltraWave fiber spans

We demonstrate error-free dense-wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission of 40 40-Gb/s channels with 100-GHz spacing over 10 000 km dispersion-managed fiber using carrier-suppressed return-to-zero differential-phase-shift keying (CSRZ-DPSK), enhanced foward-error correction, and all-Raman-amplified spans with 100-km terrestrial length.
