In this paper, we propose a simulation model for cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs) which is an attempt to combine the useful properties of wireless sensor networks and cognitive radio networks. The existing simulation models for cognitive radios cannot be extended for this purpose as they do not consider the strict energy constraint in wireless sensor networks. Our proposed model considers the limited energy available for wireless sensor nodes that constrain the spectrum sensing process—an unavoidable operation in cognitive radios. Our model has been thoroughly tested by performing experiments in different scenarios of CRSNs. The results generated by the model have been found accurate which can be considered for realization of CRSNs.  相似文献

In this study, a new hybrid model, bootstrap multiple linear regression (BMLR) is suggested to investigate the potential of bootstrap resampling technique for daily reservoir inflow prediction. The proposed model compares with three other models: Multiple linear regression (MLR), wavelet multiple linear regression (WMLR) and wavelet bootstrap multiple linear regression (WBMLR). River stage data of monsoon season (1st July 2010 to 30 September 2010) from three gauging stations of Chenab river basin are used. In wavelet transformation, input vectors are decomposed using discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) into discrete wavelet components (DWCs). Then suitable DWCs are used to provide input to MLR model to develop WMLR model. Bootstrap technique coupled with MLR model to build up BMLR model. While WBMLR model is the conjunction of suitable DWCs and bootstrap technique to MLR model. Performance indices namely root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient of efficiency (NSC), and persistence index (CP) are used in study to evaluate the performance of model. Results showed that hybrid model BMLR produce significantly better results on performance indices than other models MLR, WMLR and WBMLR.

Network coding is a data processing technique in which the flow of digital data is optimized in a network by transmitting a composite of two or more messages to make the network more robust. Network coding has been used in traditional and emerging wireless networks to overcome the communications issues of these networks. It also plays an important role in the area of vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) to meet the challenges like high mobility, rapidly changing topology, and intermittent connectivity. VANETs consist of network of vehicles in which they communicate with each other to ensure road safety, free flow of traffic, and ease of journey for the passengers. It is now considered to be the most valuable concept for improving efficiency and safety of future transportation. However, this field has a lot of challenges to deal with. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of network coding schemes in VANETs. We have classified different applications like content distribution, multimedia streaming, cooperative downloading, data dissemination, and summarized other key areas of VANETs in which network coding schemes are implemented. This research work will provide a clear understanding to the readers about how network coding is implemented in these schemes in VANETs to improve performance, reduce delay, and make the network more efficient.  相似文献

This research paper describes the development, optimization and in vitro characterization of chemically cross-linked pectin–polyvinyl alcohol-co-poly(2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid) semi-interpenetrating polymer network hydrogel [pectin–PVA-co-poly(AMPS) semi-IPN hydrogel] for controlled delivery of model drug tramadol HCl. Response surface methodology based on 32 factorial design was used for optimization and investigating the effect of independent factors: polymer-blend ratio (pectin:PVA = X 1) and monomer (AMPS = X 2) concentration on the dependent variables, swelling ratio (q 18th), percent drug release (R 18th, %), time required for 80 % drug release (t 80 %, h), drug encapsulation efficiency (DEE, %) and drug loaded contents (DLC, mg/g) in pectin-PVA-co-poly(AMPS) gels prepared by free radical polymerization. The optimized semi-IPN gel (FPP-10) showed controlled in vitro drug release (R 18th) of 56.34 % in 18 h, t 80 % of 30 h, and DEE of 23.40 %. These semi-IPN hydrogels were also characterized through SEM, FTIR, sol–gel analysis, swelling studies and drug release characteristics. Therefore, this newly synthesized polymeric network could be a potential polymeric system for controlled drug delivery of tramadol HCl for prolonged drug release.  相似文献

The goal of this paper is to study the feasibility of making intelligent antenna selection decision in IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). This study provides us the basis to design and implement software defined intelligent antenna switching capability to wireless sensor nodes based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) link quality metric. First, we discuss the results of our newly designed radio module (Inverted-F Antenna) for 2.4 GHz bandwidth (WSNs). Second, we propose an intelligent antenna selection strategy to exploit antenna diversity. Third, we propose the prototype of our diversity antenna for the TelosB mote and the intelligent switch design. Finally, we compare the performance of the built-in TelosB antenna with our proposed external antenna in both laboratory and realistic environments. Experimental results confirm the gain of 6–10 dB of the proposed radio module over the built-in radio module of the TelosB motes.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an intelligent and distributed channel selection strategy for efficient data dissemination in multi-hop cognitive radio network. Our strategy, SURF, classifies the available channels and uses them efficiently to increase data dissemination reliability in multi-hop cognitive radio networks. The classification is done on the basis of primary radio unoccupancy and of the number of cognitive radio neighbors using the channels. Through extensive NS-2 simulations, we study the performance of SURF compared to four related approaches. Simulation results confirm that our approach is effective in selecting the best channels for efficient communication (in terms of less primary radio interference) and for highest dissemination reachability in multi-hop cognitive radio networks.  相似文献

There has been growing interests in direct patterning of metallic contents on the surface of the substrate without including complex steps of the microfabrication lithography process. The direct fabrication process using electrostatic ink-jet printing can be expected to be a powerful tool for both nanotechnology research and applications such as microelectronics. The droplet ejection voltage, meniscus, cone-jet behavior, and counter electrode distance depends on the ink properties such as surface tension, viscosity, and percentage of metallic pigments. In this paper, 2-μm level needle-type electrostatic head designs for contact-less fabrication of printed electronics, composed of differently treated surface materials, have been studied and analyzed. The electrostatically actuated ink-jet heads were tested and compared for low power and high resolution on ink containing metallic nano-particle particles as pigments. The two laboratory-fabricated discrete and electrostatically actuated ink-jet heads, one made by poly di-methyl siloxane modeling process and other through micro-electrical discharge machine techniques, were compared, and their orifice outlet surface (hydrophobic and hydrophilic) condition influence has been discussed. The paper also investigates different dripping behaviors of metallic ink under the influence of counter electrode distance, voltages, and materials. The observation of droplet ejection with high-speed camera revealed that in the case of hydrophobic head, better meniscus shape and ejection was achieved even at low voltage compared to the hydrophilic head. It was also found that the less flow rate is required in hydrophobic head. Printing characteristic of the hydrophilic nozzle head was also compared with the hydrophobic head on PET substrate.  相似文献
