In this work a new class of numerical methods for the BGK model of kinetic equations is presented. In principle, schemes of any order of accuracy in both space and time can be constructed with this technique. The methods proposed are based on an explicit–implicit time discretization. In particular the convective terms are treated explicitly, while the source terms are implicit. In this fashion even problems with infinite stiffness can be integrated with relatively large time steps. The conservation properties of the schemes are investigated. Numerical results are shown for schemes of order 1, 2 and 5 in space, and up to third-order accurate in time.  相似文献

Stress in the parenting role has been found to be related to family functioning and parenting behavior. However, most research in this area has been conducted with clinical samples and has not compared parenting stress of mothers and fathers. In this study, 589 married couples with young children (12 to 60 months old) completed the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (Abidin, 1990) and measures of child-rearing behaviors and attitudes, social support, and child behavior. The validity of Abidin's measure and theoretical model was tested, and results were mixed. Small effects were found for mothers and fathers, and these were moderated by child age and marital happiness. Stress as a normal consequence of parenting is discussed. This article describes the application, at the team and individual level, of findings from the positive psychology research. An overview of this research is presented focusing on several areas generally included in the positive psychology domain: flow, appreciative inquiry, the broaden and build theory, and other strategies for increasing the experience of positive emotions and the identification and deployment of strengths. The authors propose that these applications show promise in consulting psychology engagements and may have merit when utilized by practitioners themselves. The goal of the present studies was to construct and validate a short form of the 50-item Smoking Consequences Questionnaire (SCQ; T. H. Brandon & T. B. Baker, 1991), a measure of smoking outcome expectancies. In Study 1, a 21-item short form (S-SCQ) was derived from a sample of 107 young adults previously treated for substance abuse. In Study 2, the measure was cross-validated on 125 adolescents in treatment for substance abuse. Confirmatory factor analyses revealed good model fit and factorial invariance for the 4 S-SCQ subscales across both samples. Validation analyses on each sample found that subscale scores generally correlated significantly with smoking-related variables. In diethyl ether extracts from celeriac (Apium graveolens L. var.rapaceum) all four stereoisomers of (3a–7a)-cis-3-butylhexahydrophthalide were found to be present. The analyses were carried out by means of GC, enantioselective GC and GC-MS. The assignment of the relative configuration of the diastereomers3 and4 was accomplished by NOE difference spectroscopy.

Three- and 4-yr-old children were tested for comprehension of knowledge formation. In Exp 1, 34 Ss watched as a surprise was hidden under 1 of 4 obscured cups. The experimenter then pointed to the cup. All children searched under the correct cup, but no 3-yr-olds (in contrast to most 4-yr-olds) could explain how they knew where to look. Ss then discriminated between simultaneous pointing by 2 adults, one who had hidden a surprise and one who had left the room before the surprise was hidden. Most 4-yr-olds (but no 3-yr-olds) showed clear discrimination between the adults. In Exp 2, 16 Ss were tested with procedures designed to make the source of their own knowledge more obvious, but this had no effect on performance. It is concluded that studies using very similar procedures with chimpanzees and rhesus macaques were measuring an ability (or inability) to understand how knowledge states form. A model for the carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) and combining site of the human asialoglycoprotein (ASGP) receptor has been computed on the basis of the close sequence homology with the mannose-binding lectin (MBP), whose three-dimensional structure in complex with a ligand has been determined by crystallographic methods (Weis, W.I.; Drickamer, K.; Hendrickson, W.A. Nature 1992, 360: 127). Within the limitations of modeling methods, the model is compatible with data on ligand binding of the family C-type lectins, of which the MBP and the ASGP receptor are members. The model derived can serve as a guide for designing site-directed mutagenesis experiments in order to further elucidate the origins of specificity of the ASGP receptor toward galactose. In particular, the model focuses attention on the possible role of position 207 (MBP sequence numbering) in promoting galactose binding.  相似文献

The development of verbal and spatial working memory was investigated with an interference paradigm. Memory spans were obtained from 3 groups (8-, 10-, and 19-yr olds) under 6 different conditions: Two primary memory tasks (1 verbal, 1 spatial) were administered in isolation and in conjunction with 2 versions of a secondary task. The primary tasks required recalling a series of visually presented digits and recalling the locations of Xs in a series of visually presented grids. The secondary tasks required reporting the color of the stimuli as they were presented using either a verbal or a spatial response. Analyses revealed that all age groups showed domain-specific interference (i.e., interference by a secondary task from the same domain as the primary task), but only the 8-yr-olds also showed nonspecific interference (i.e., interference by a secondary task from a domain different than the primary memory task), suggesting that at least some executive functions do not reach adult levels of efficiency until approximately age 10.
