Full-diversity, high-rate space-time block codes from division algebras   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
We present some general techniques for constructing full-rank, minimal-delay, rate at least one space-time block codes (STBCs) over a variety of signal sets for arbitrary number of transmit antennas using commutative division algebras (field extensions) as well as using noncommutative division algebras of the rational field /spl Qopf/ embedded in matrix rings. The first half of the paper deals with constructions using field extensions of /spl Qopf/. Working with cyclotomic field extensions, we construct several families of STBCs over a wide range of signal sets that are of full rank, minimal delay, and rate at least one appropriate for any number of transmit antennas. We study the coding gain and capacity of these codes. Using transcendental extensions we construct arbitrary rate codes that are full rank for arbitrary number of antennas. We also present a method of constructing STBCs using noncyclotomic field extensions. In the later half of the paper, we discuss two ways of embedding noncommutative division algebras into matrices: left regular representation, and representation over maximal cyclic subfields. The 4/spl times/4 real orthogonal design is obtained by the left regular representation of quaternions. Alamouti's (1998) code is just a special case of the construction using representation over maximal cyclic subfields and we observe certain algebraic uniqueness characteristics of it. Also, we discuss a general principle for constructing cyclic division algebras using the nth root of a transcendental element and study the capacity of the STBCs obtained from this construction. Another family of cyclic division algebras discovered by Brauer (1933) is discussed and several examples of STBCs derived from each of these constructions are presented.  相似文献

With the spread of systems approaches to biological research, there is increasing demand for methods and tools capable of extracting quantitative measurements of biological samples from individual and time-based sequences of microscope images. To this end, we have developed a software tool for tissue level segmentation and automatic tracking of a network of cells in confocal images of the roots of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. The tool implements a novel hybrid technique, which is a combination of the recently developed Network Snakes technique and MCMC-based particle filters and incorporates automatic initialisation of the network snakes. A novel method of evaluation of network-structured multi-target tracking is also presented, and is used to evaluate the developed tracking framework for accuracy and robustness against several timelapse sequences of Arabidopsis roots. Evaluation results are presented, along with a comparison between the results of the component techniques and the hybrid approach. The results show that the hybrid approach performed consistently well at all levels of complexity and better than the component methods alone.  相似文献

The extent of irreversible deactivation of Pt towards hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) due to sulfur adsorption and subsequent electrochemical oxidation is quantified in a functional polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell. At 70 °C, sequential hydrogen sulfide (H2S) exposure and electrochemical oxidation experiments indicate that as much as 6% of total Pt sites are deactivated per monolayer sulfur adsorption at open-circuit potential of a PEM fuel cell followed by its removal. The extent of such deactivation is much higher when the electrode is exposed to H2S while the fuel cell is operating at a finite load, and is dependent on the local overpotential as well as the duration of exposure. Regardless of this deactivation, the H2/O2 polarization curves obtained on post-recovery electrodes do not show performance losses suggesting that such performance curves alone cannot be used to assess the extent of recovery due to sulfur poisoning. A concise mechanism for the adsorption and electro-oxidation of H2S on Pt anode is presented. H2S dissociatively adsorbs onto Pt as two different sulfur species and at intermediate oxidation potentials, undergoes electro-oxidation to sulfur and then to sulfur dioxide. This mechanism is validated by charge balances between hydrogen desorption and sulfur electro-oxidation on Pt. The ignition potential for sulfur oxidation decreases with increase in temperature, which coupled with faster electro-oxidation kinetics result in the easier removal of adsorbed sulfur at higher temperatures. Furthermore, the adsorption potential is found to influence sulfur coverage of an electrode exposed to H2S. As an implication, the local potential of a PEM fuel cell anode exposed to H2S contaminated fuel should be kept below the equilibrium potential for sulfur oxidation to prevent irreversible loss of Pt sites.  相似文献

This work involves the development of surface functionalized carbon black (FCB) reinforced polybenzoxazine (PBZ) nanocomposites, using a benzoxazine monomer and varying weight percentages of functionalized carbon black (0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 wt%) through ring opening polymerization via thermal cure. Data from the morphological studies indicate that the nanosized FCB particles are homogeneously distributed in the polybenzoxazine matrix. The incorporation of FCB improves the dielectric constant, electrical conductivity, and reduction in resistivity of the resulting FCB–PBZ nanocomposites when compared to neat PBZ. A significant improvement observed in glass transition temperature and thermal stability of resulting FCB–PBZ nanocomposites, when compared to neat PBZ. POLYM. Sweet potato (SP) is an important root crop grown all over the world and consumed as a vegetable, boiled, baked or often fermented into food and beverages. The grated SP roots [non- boiled and fully boiled (boiled in water at 100 °C for 15 min) were treated with 0.05% of commercial pectinase enzyme (Pectinex, Novoenzyme) in order to extract the juice. The fresh juice was inoculated with Lactobacillus plantarum MTCC 1407 culture at 28 ± 2 °C for 48 h to produce lacto-juice (LJ). The anova analysis of analytical data revealed that there was significant effect of boiling conditions (fully boiled and non-boiled) on pH [ F (1, 4) = 220.5, P  < 0.001), TA [ F (1, 4) = 78.89, P  < 0.01], starch [ F (1, 4) = 26.63, P  < 0.01), total sugar [ F (1, 4) = 61.36, P  < 0.01) and anthocyanin [ F (1, 4) = 32.86, P  < 0.01) but not on reducing sugar [ F (1, 4) = 2.48, P  = 0.19). Sensory evaluation rated the SP LJ acceptable based on texture, taste, aroma, flavour and after taste. LJ prepared from fully boiled roots with 10% cane sugar was most preferred by a consumer's panelist based on Linear Discriminant Analysis. Principal component analyses (PCA) reduced the seven original analytical variables to three independent components (factors), which accounted for 99.9% of the total variations. Similarly, six original sensory variables were reduced to two independent components, which accounted for 65.7% of the total variations.  相似文献

A feature-based method that determines the thickness and electrical conductivity of a coating on a metal plate from the change in the frequency-dependent impedance of an eddy-current probe coil is presented. Recently a least-squares solution of this problem was presented, which, however, requires approximately 20 CPU minutes on a DEC 5000 work station for the analysis of each set of measurements. We show that a feature-based approach can reduce the time to a few seconds on the same processor. We start by showing that a three-parameter scaling of the resistive component of the impedance change vs. frequency leads to a simple and nearly universal curve. Consequently these parameters provide a simple and compact way of expressing the data. Next, we show that the three scaling parameters can be used to construct a look-up table that determines the conductivity and thickness of the coating. Finally, we test the method using experimental data.  相似文献
