A recently proposed UV correction method is used to reduce group delay ripple in a chirped fibre grating tunable dispersion compensator. In 43 Gbit/s CSRZ system tests, the corrected grating had less than 0.5 dB OSNR penalty over the tunable dispersion range of 270 to 750 ps/nm.  相似文献

The basic functional element of microfiber photonics is a microfiber coil resonator (MCR), which potentially can perform filtering, time delay, and nonlinear transformations of electromagnetic waves, as well as sensing of the ambient medium. The first experimental demonstration of an MCR has been recently performed by researchers of the OFS Laboratories (Optical Fiber Communication Conference 2007, Postdeadline paper PDP46). This paper follows up on the later publication presenting a brief introduction to the theory, transmission properties and applications of optical micro/nanofibers and MCRs. Fabrication of MCRs in air and in liquid is reported. For the MCR immersed in liquid, the Q-factor exceeding 60 000 is achieved.  相似文献

We demonstrate a novel interferometric technique for highly accurate characterization of phase masks used in optical fiber grating fabrication. The principle of the measurement scheme is based on the analysis of the interference pattern formed between the first- and zero-order beams transmitted through or reflected from the grating under test. For spatial resolution of a few millimeters, our methods allow the determination of local variations of the order of 1-microm grating period with an accuracy of a few picometers. These methods are applicable to a broad class of diffractive grating structures.  相似文献

The ability to manipulate the polarisation of light in an optical fibre by moving fluids within air channels that run along the length of the fibre-cladding region is demonstrated. A polarisation tuning of 2π phase change is achieved in a 4 cm length of fibre. The displacement of fluid in the channels measured against temperature is in good agreement with the theoretical predictions  相似文献
