Rapidly growing research reveals complex yet systematic consequences of collaboration on memory in young adults, but much less is known about this phenomenon in older adults. Young and older adults studied a list of categorized words and took three successive recall tests. Test 1 and 3 were always taken individually, and Test 2 was done either in triads or alone. Despite older adults recalling less overall than young adults, both age groups exhibited similar costs and benefits of collaboration: Collaboration reduced both correct and false recall during collaborative remembering, was associated with more positive beliefs about its value, and produced reminiscence, collective memory, and some forgetting in its cascading effects on postcollaborative recall. We examine the role of retrieval organization in these effects. As environmental support may play a substantial role in healthy aging, the relatively preserved effects of collaboration on memory in older adults hold promise for testing judicious uses of group remembering in aging. Four verbal implicit memory tests, word identification, word stem completion, word fragment completion, and anagram solution, were directly compared in 1 experiment and were contrasted with free recall. On all implicit tests, priming was greatest from prior visual presentation of words, less (but significant) from auditory presentation, and least from pictorial presentations. Typefont did not affect priming. In free recall, pictures were recalled better than words. Solid phase extraction of europium and uranium using Tulsion CH-90 resin   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A procedure for the pre-concentration and separation of trace amounts of Eu and U by solid phase extraction using Tulsion CH-90 resin (with imino diacetate functional group) has been developed. The determinations of europium and uranium have been carried out by a radiotracer technique using 152,154Eu and 233U radionuclides. The experiments were carried out using both batch and column techniques. Parameters such as equilibration rate, effect of pH, sorption and desorption of metal ions have been studied. The maximum sorption capacities for Eu and U were found to be 0.31 mmolg–1 at pH 5.3 and 0.96 mmolg–1 at pH 3.1 respectively.  相似文献

Blends of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) with small amounts of ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) were prepared by melt mixing in a twin‐screw microcompounder. Two types of UHMWPE differing in their states of chain entanglement were used. The blend composition, time of mixing, and rotation speed of the screws were varied. Rheological properties of the blends were studied in oscillatory shear and uniaxial elongational tests. Reduction in phase angle measured in dynamic shear rheology and increase in extensional strain hardening were found to be useful indicators for quantifying the extent of mixing of the two components. Although the disentangled UHMWPE showed reasonable mixing with HDPE during typical residence times of melt compounding operations, the entangled UHMWPE remained essentially undissolved. This paper proposes an efficient approach for reliability evaluation of multiple‐sources and multiple‐destinations flow networks. The proposed approach evaluates multiple node pair capacity related reliability. The proposed approach is a three‐step approach; in the first step, it enumerates network minimal cut sets. These network minimal cut sets are then used to enumerate subset cuts in the second step. Third step involves the evaluation of multiple node pair capacity related reliability from the enumerated subset cuts using a multi‐variable inversion sum‐of‐disjoint set approach. The proposed approach can be used for optimal network design as it combines multiple performance requirements, that is, flow requirements between multiple node pairs and network reliability, in a single criterion. Three experiments investigated the phenomenology of false memories in J. D. Bransford and J. J. Franks's (1971) semantic integration paradigm using Remember–Know judgments and confidence ratings. Findings included high rates of Remember false alarms that increased with greater integrative demands, a dissociation between Remember and Know judgments in the standard Bransford and Franks condition, and similar patterns of Remember and Know judgments in a condition where semantic integrative processes were weakened. Confidence ratings were consistently higher for Remember judgments except where integrative processes were greatest. Today’s era is the era of smart and remote applications exploiting advancement in sensors, cloud, Internet of things etc. Major application is in healthcare monitoring and support using wireless body area network (WBAN) in which sensor nodes sense vital physiological parameters and send to server through sink i.e. smart phone nowadays for seamless monitoring. The most significant issue in such applications is energy efficiency which leads to enhanced network life time that ensures uninterrupted seamless services. From source to sink data transmission may occur considering three different scenarios: source to sink single hop direct data transmission irrespective of in-between node distance, source to sink multi hop data transmission in which transmission range of source node is fixed at a threshold to find next forwarder node and transmission range of source node is incremented by affixed value until data gets transmitted to sink. In this work WBAN having different network configurations based on fixed or random positions of nodes have been simulated. Different scenarios with fixed and varying number of nodes are framed and simulated using MATLAB 2020a for performance evaluation of proposed algorithm in terms of energy consumption, network lifetime, path loss etc. due to data transmission from source to sink. Experimental results show that incremental approach is better than direct one in terms of energy consumption, path loss and network lifetime. While selecting transmission range of a source node, it is considered to keep Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) lower to reduce impact on human tissue.
