Wireless nanonetworks are not a simple extension of traditional communication networks at the nano-scale. Owing to being a completely new communication paradigm, existing research in this field is still at an embryonic stage. Furthermore, most of the existing studies focus on performance enhancement of nanonetworks via designing new channel models and routing protocols. However, the impacts of different types of nano-antennas on the network-level performances of the wireless nanonetworks remain still unexplored in the literature. Therefore, in this paper, we explore the impacts of different well-known types of antennas such as patch, dipole, and loop nano-antennas on the network-level performances of wireless nanonetworks. We also investigate the performances of nanonetworks for different types of traditional materials (e.g., copper) and for nanomaterials (e.g., carbon nanotubes and graphene). We perform rigorous simulation using our customized ns-2 simulation to evaluate the network-level performances of nanonetworks exploiting different types of nano-antennas using different materials. Our evaluation reveals a number of novel findings pertinent to finding an efficient nano-antenna from its several alternatives for enhancing network-level performances of nanonetworks. Our evaluation demonstrates that a dipole nano-antenna using copper material exhibits around 51% better throughput and about 33% better end-to-end delay compared to other alternatives for large-size nanonetworks. Furthermore, our results are expected to exhibit high impacts on the future design of wireless nanonetworks through facilitating the process of finding the suitable type of nano-antenna and suitable material for the nano-antennas.

This paper presents a systolic array architecture for the adaptive decision feedback equalizer. The design is based on an algebra developed earlier by Kung and Lin (Proceedings of the Conference of Elliptic Problem Solvers, Monterey, CA, January 1983; Research Report CMU-CS-84-100, Department of Computer Science, Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, April 1983.) and is largely made up of two basic processing cells that are computationally equivalent and simple to realize. To maintain accuracy of the algorithm, the array needs to be operated by a clock with a speed twice of that the input. The increase in clock speed can, however, be exploited to reduce the total number of adders and multipliers by about 50%.  相似文献

Serum samples from 72 patients with established carcinoma of the breast were investigated for ectopic presence of hPL. Further, the relationship of ectopically-secreted hPL and hCG-beta in breast cancer was investigated. Ten of 72 patients examined had detectable hPL and 12 had detectable hCG-beta, at 1-2 ng/ml serum sensitivity of the assay. The presence of hPL in serum of breast cancer patients was found to be independent of that of hCG-Beta. Sera of 13 patients with cystic mastitis, five with fibroadenoma, two with acute inflammation of breast, 20 normal women (non-pregnant) and 20 normal men did not show any detectable serum hPL or hCG-beta at the above mentioned sensitivity of the assay. Since these hormones were not detectable in normal men, normal non-pregnant women, and in patients having other pathological conditions of breast, the possible use of them as markers in cancer is expected  相似文献

The scope for energy conservation in a ceramic factory was studied. It was found that the sensible heat of the flue gas from kilns could be used to heat the casting shop. A pebble bed waste heat regenerator was chosen to collect the sensible heat of the flue gas. Experiments were performed on a pilot plant scale pebble bed to study its characteristics using a flue gas stream whose temperature and composition were similar to the factory conditions. The results of the heating cycle showed that 14 500 kcal h−1 of heat can be collected from flue gas in a 0·126 m3 bed. This information was used to design a complete retrofit system. Financial analysis of the proposed project showed that it has a pay-back period of 15 months. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Society plays a vital role in maintaining the emotional health of an individual. People living in conflicting zones are emotionally degraded and often hold more negativity than the people living in serene areas. Nowadays, analyzing the emotions shared on social networking websites is an ongoing topic of research. In this paper, we presented the potential of user data available on the Facebook website in distinguishing the emotions of netizens in conflicting versus non-conflicting areas. We collected the Facebook posts of the users living in Kashmir (conflicting region) and Delhi (non-conflicting) with the help of two source accounts. Plutchik’s eight basic emotions, namely, fear, anger, sadness, joy, surprise, disgust, trust and anticipation have been used to determine the emotion state of a user. Based on two well-known lexicons, namely, EmoLex and Empath, a new dictionary called MoodBook is designed to determine the user emotions from their posts.After analyzing the data, we found that violence in the conflicting region has badly affected the psychology of the citizens as most of the people in Kashmir fall under three negative emotion categories, namely, fear, anger, and sadness, whereas the joy mood has been found more in the posts of Delhi-based users. Furthermore, a mood-vector is created for each user and used as an input to k-means clustering where it has been found that the citizens of two regions form separate groups based on their psychological state. The study of the difference between emotions expressed online by the citizens of conflicting and non-conflicting has not been seen in the literature till date.  相似文献
