Sialidase cleaves sialic acid residues from glycans such as glycoproteins and glycolipids. In the brain, desorption of the sialic acid by sialidase is essential for synaptic plasticity, learning and memory and synaptic transmission. BTP3-Neu5Ac has been developed for sensitive imaging of sialidase enzyme activity in mammalian tissues. Sialidase activity in the rat hippocampus detected with BTP3-Neu5Ac increases rapidly by neuronal depolarization. It is presumed that an increased sialidase activity in conjunction with neural excitation is involved in the formation of the neural circuit for memory. Since sialidase inhibits the exocytosis of the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate, the increased sialidase activity by neural excitation might play a role in the negative feedback mechanism against the glutamate release. Mammalian tissues other than the brain have also been stained with BTP3-Neu5Ac. On the basis of information on the sialidase activity imaging in the pancreas, it was found that sialidase inhibitor can be used as an anti-diabetic drug that can avoid hypoglycemia, a serious side effect of insulin secretagogues. In this review, we discuss the role of sialidase in the brain as well as in the pancreas and skin, as revealed by using a sialidase activity imaging probe. We also present the detection of influenza virus with BTP3-Neu5Ac and modification of BTP3-Neu5Ac.  相似文献

Programs for rule based electromyography (EMG) interpretation and reporting are described. A number of parameters are obtained during an EMG investigation. The combination of these data leads to a neurophysiological conclusion. Knowledge from the literature, research and experience is the basis for rule development. Rules have been developed for 14 of the most commonly used classifications of an EMG. The syntax is relatively easy and the user may change the rules, add rules or apply the system for other types of data. The results are displayed in a new graphical way. The system presented here is part of an integrated EMG laboratory with administrative routines, distributed databases for storage of results and routines for automatic report generation.  相似文献

In order to effectively remove B from Si for its use in solar cells, a process involving B removal by solidification refining of Si using a Si-Al melt with Ti addition was investigated. For clarifying the effect of Ti addition on B removal from the Si-Al melt, TiB2 solubilities in Si-64.6 at. pct Al melt at 1173 K and Si-60.0 at. pct Al melt at 1273 K were determined by measuring the equilibrium concentrations of B and Ti in the presence of TiB2 precipitates. The small solubilities of TiB2 in the Si-Al melt indicate the effective removal of B from the Si-Al melt by Ti addition. Further, solidification experiments of Si-Al alloys containing B by Ti addition were performed, and the effect of Ti addition on the solidification refining of Si with the Si-Al melt was successfully confirmed.  相似文献

The effect of gravity on dissolution of GaSb in InSb melt and growth of InGaSb was experimentally investigated. Experiments were carried out in a GaSb(seed)/InSb/GaSb(feed) sandwich system under an imposed temperature gradient. In the experiments, the GaSb feed crystal dissolved into the InSb melt to supply the required GaSb component for the growth of In0.1Ga0.9Sb crystal. Two parameters were considered: (1) the inclination angle (θ) of the sample for gravity as 0° and 53°, and (2) the sample diameter (D) as 9 mm and 5mm. When θ was 0°, the interface was almost flat, indicating that convection was axisymmetric and stable. Whereas the interface was distorted towards gravitational direction when θ was 53°, indicating that solutal convection was dominant. The decrease of growth temperature and sample diameter reduced the distortion of interface and the dissolution amount of GaSb feed. The homogeneous crystals were grown at the initial growth stage by supplying the GaSb component during growth.  相似文献

The goal of this paper is to augment the ordinal temporal-difference type (TD-type) reinforcement learning model in order to detect the most suitable learning model of the human decision-making process in financial investment tasks. The simplicity and robustness of the TD-type learning model is fascinating. However, the available evidence and our observation suggest the necessity of introducing the nonlinear effect in learning and the possibility that additional factors might play important roles in the investment decision-making process. To extend the ordinal TD-type learning model, we adopt a three-layered perceptron as the basis function and the hierarchical Bayesian method to calibrate the parameter values. The result of the predictive test suggests that the augmented TD-type learning model constructed in this paper can evade the overfitting and can predict people's investment behavior well as compared to other familiar learning models.  相似文献

Growth rate has a direct impact on the productivity of nitride LED production.Atmospheric pressure growth of GaN with a growth rate as high as 10μm/h and also Al0.1Ga0.9N growth of 1μm/h by using 4 inch by 11 production scale MOVPE are described.XRD of(002) and(102) direction was 200 arcsec and 250 arcsec, respectively.Impact of the growth rate on productivity is discussed.  相似文献

Cyclohexane isomerization to methylcyclopentane over sulfated zirconia is markedly enhanced in the presence of isopentane which acts as a hydride transfer agent to facilitate the slow step of hydride transfer from cyclohexane to isopropyl cation. The deformation mechanism in the crack-tip region of a fine-grained Mg-2.4 at. pct Zn binary alloy was investigated by focused ion beam (FIB) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation and finite element analysis (FEA) at the beginning of the fracture toughness test. The deformed microstructure observations showed the formation of subgrains instead of deformation twins in the fracture toughness tested sample, which was performed at a conventional crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. By preventing the formation of deformation twins at the beginning of the test, the crack tip of the fine-grained magnesium alloys became blunted, and thus, the alloys obtained high fracture toughness. Finite element results showed that the temperature increased 50 to 110 K, and the strain rate became two orders of magnitude higher; however, this temperature increment was not sufficient to form high-angle grain boundaries, i.e., a complete occurrence of dynamic recrystallization. On the other hand, the deformed microstructure observations in the sample, which was tested at a crosshead speed of 50 mm/min, showed the formation of nano-order {10-12} deformation twins and subgrains. The formation of deformation twins was caused, in part, by the severe strain from the operation of a high strain rate in the crack-tip region.  相似文献

The radiographic density fluctuations produced by using dual screen-film systems are designated as the radiographic mottle. The density fluctuation of the radiographic mottle for the double emulsions at a density of the double emulsions consists of those for the front and back emulsions on a radiograph. However, the relation between the Wiener spectra of the radiographic mottle for the double and single emulsions had not been studied. Hence we compared the Wiener spectra of the radiographic mottle for the double emulsions with the sum of those for the front and back emulsions on the same radiographs and with the sum of those for the emulsions at the same densities. At all densities of more than 0.62 for lower spatial frequencies (< or = 1 mm-1), the Wiener spectral values of the radiographic mottle for the double emulsions were greater than the sum of those for the front and back emulsions for both comparisons on the same radiographs and at the same densities. In order to investigate the reason of the above phenomena, we separated the Wiener spectral values of the radiographic mottle for various densities into those of the three factors, i.e., quantum mottle, structure mottle, and film granularity, and performed the same comparisons as the radiographic mottle. Also, to explain the results for the three factors, we obtained the Wiener spectral values of the spatial fluctuations of the light exposure or the fluorescence intensity and the gradients of the characteristic curves of the film for the double and single emulsions of the x-ray film. As a result of the investigation, we found that the phenomena on the radiographic mottle were caused by that (1) on the same radiographs the squares of the gradients of the characteristic curves for the double emulsions were about 5.3 times as great as those for the single emulsion at densities of more than 0.62 of the double emulsions, and (2) at the same density of more than 0.62 those were more than about 2.2 times as great as those for the single emulsion.  相似文献
