A novel saccharide sensor that displays a distinct color change resembling a “traffic signal” was developed. By copolymerizing boronic acid and amine monomers on a glass plate, a boronic acid‐containing thin film was obtained. Anionic blue and yellow dyes were adsorbed on the thin film, and the film was immersed in aqueous saccharide solutions containing a cationic red dye. With increase in the saccharide concentration in the solution, the thin film changes color from green to red via yellow. The observed distinct changes in color were attributed to a stepwise release and binding of dyes. The sensitivity of the saccharide sensor was dependent on the monomer composition of the thin film and increased with increasing the boronic acid content. The pH of the saccharide solution was another key factor affecting the sensing behavior, and glucose‐responsive color changes were significantly enhanced at pH 7.8. By optimizing these conditions, significant color changes in response to glucose were achieved. The glass transitions of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR)/organoclay nanocomposites with various silicate contents were investigated using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). The nanocomposites were prepared through melt intercalation of NBR with various concentrations of organoclay (OC30B) modified with the organic modifier, methyl tallow bis(2-hydroxyethyl) quaternary ammonium (MT2EtOH), i.e., Cloisite® 30B. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) measurements of the NBR/OC30B nanocomposites showed that the NBR chains were intercalated between the silicate layers, thereby increasing the gallery heights of the organosilicates. The glass transition temperature of NBR was determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). However, it seemed to be very difficult to clearly resolve the very small differences in Tgs caused from various loading of nanosized silicate in NBR/OC30B nanocomposites. Hence, we performed positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) on NBR/OC30B nanocomposites containing various amounts of OC30B (1-10 wt%). Significant changes in the temperature dependencies of free volume parameters (i.e., lifetimes and intensities) were observed at the transition temperature, Tg,PALS, and the Tg,PALS values were found to increase with increasing organoclay content in the samples. These observations are consistent with PALS having a higher sensitivity in the detection of very small changes in free volume properties. The present findings thus highlight the usefulness of PALS for studying phase transition phenomena in polymeric materials with nanoscale structural variations. 相似文献

A study of the pyrolysis of an aqueous solution of manganese nitrate in the presence of silver compounds has been carried out. Thermal analysis showed that the MnO2 formation temperature and the transformation temperature from MnO2 to Mn2O3 shifted towards a lower temperature in the presence of silver acetate. GaFeO3‐type iron oxide is a promising room‐temperature multiferroic material due to its large magnetization. To expand its usability, controlling the ferroelectric and magnetic properties is crucial. In this study, high‐quality GaxFe2–xO3 (x = 0–1) epitaxial films are fabricated and their properties are systematically investigated. All films exhibit room‐temperature out‐of‐plane ferroelectricity, showing that the coercive electric field (Ec) decreases monotonically with x. Additionally, the films show in‐plane ferrimagnetism with a Curie temperature (TC) >350 K at x = 0–0.6. The coercive magnetic field (Hc) decreases with x at x ≤ 0.6, but shows a constant value at x > 0.6, whereas the saturated magnetization (Ms) increases with x at x ≤ 0.6, but decreases with x at x > 0.6. X‐ray magnetic circular dichroism reveals that the large magnetization at x = 0.6 is derived from Fe3+ (3d5) at octahedral sites. The controllable range of the Ec, Hc, and Ms values at room temperature (400–800 kV cm?1, 1–8 kOe, and 0.2–0.6 µB/f.u.) is very wide and differs from those of well‐known multiferroic BiFeO3. Furthermore, the GaxFe2?xO3 films exhibit room‐temperature magnetocapacitance effects, indicating that adjusting TC near room temperature is useful to achieve large room‐temperature magnetocapacitance behavior. 相似文献

Dynamic reconfigurable devices present new computational paradigms because programmable devices’ activity and performance can be improved dramatically by increasing its reconfiguration frequency. Therefore, this paper presents designs of optically differential reconfigurable gate array (ODRGA) VLSIs using 0.18 μm and 0.35 μm CMOS process technologies. Polymer structures have been investigated using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) with a slow positron beam
as well as a conventional radioactive source (22Na). The properties of the free volume holes near the polymer surface were studied as a function of the positron implantation
energy. The longest lifetime was associated with ortho-positronium (o-Ps) annihilation in the free volume holes. In polytetrafluoroethylene film, the lifetime of o-Ps was observed to decrease with increasing positron implantation depth, and a significant change in the o-Ps lifetime was found at a short distance (about 10 nm) from the surface, while its intensity increased. This result implies
that near the polymer surface the free volume holes become larger that in the bulk. The effect of temperature on the polymer
sub-surface layers was also studied. For high molecular weight polystyrene, the glass transition temperature for the sub-surface
was lower than that for the bulk and thermal expansion coefficient of the sub-surface layers was found to be larger than the
bulk value.

The solid-state synthesis of a tetrathiafulvalene–chloranil (TTF–CA) complex was demonstrated, and progress in the formation of the complex was monitored using a GaP Raman terahertz (THz) spectrometer.
