In this paper, an approximate maximum-likelihood (ML) receiver for differential space-time block codes is investigated. The receiver is derived from the ML criterion and is shown to mitigate error floor occurring in a conventional differential receiver very well. Because the receiver employs knowledges of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and fading rate, we study mismatched cases when these parameters are not accurate. It is shown that the receiver is more sensitive to the mismatched parameters when the fading rate is high. Then, a union bound on the bit error probability is derived. The bounds show good agreement with the simulation results at high fading rate and at high SNR. Finally, a modified receiver, denoted as multistage receiver, is proposed to compensate the so-called intrablock interference caused by the time-varying characteristic of the channel within a transmission block. The multistage receiver offers further reduction of error floor of about half order of magnitude as compared with an approximate ML receiver.  相似文献

The differential space-time block code is well-known to provide full spatial diversity and allows simple differential detection. Recent results have shown performance degradation when the channel is time-varying. The letter shows the effect on error performance of spatial correlation between transmit antennas. A generalized receiver which exploits spatial correlation information, is proposed and shown to outperform an existing receiver in terms of frame error rate for slowly varying channels with moderate to high spatial correlation.  相似文献

A new power efficient modulation scheme for two transmit antennas is introduced. It is an extension of /spl pi//4-DQPSK used in single antenna systems. Differential modulation for two-user cooperative diversity systems   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
This paper introduces a novel differential modulation scheme for a two-user cooperative diversity system which does not require channel state information at either the users or the destination. The performance of fixed decode-and-forward and selection relaying protocols is evaluated in both symmetric and asymmetric interuser-channel cases. The lower bound on the performance of the decode-and-forward protocol is given, while the exact bit-error probability of the selection relaying protocol is thoroughly derived. The decode-and-forward relaying protocol achieves a performance gain when the signal-to-noise ratios in the interuser channels are symmetric and sufficiently high. The selection relaying protocol shows a larger performance gain and does not exhibit an error floor like in the case of the decode-and-forward protocol. In addition, it is robust to the asymmetric interuser channels.  相似文献

In this letter, concatenation of trellis-coded modulation (TCM) with differential space-time block codes (DSTBC) is considered under frequency-flat Rayleigh-fading channels with and without perfect interleaver. It is shown that the design criteria of TCM concatenated with DSTBC are exactly the same as that of TCM concatenated with space-time block codes (STBC) in perfectly known channels. They are effective code length over span two symbol intervals and minimum product-sum distance over span two symbol intervals. Based on the design criteria, several new rate-2/3 systematic Ungerboeck's TCM schemes have been found by computer search. They outperform existing optimal TCM schemes designed for additive white Gaussian noise or flat fading channels.  相似文献
