Launched in April 1999, the Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) instrument is in its sixth year of operation. The ETM+ instrument has been the most stable of any of the Landsat instruments. To date, the best onboard calibration source for the reflective bands has been the Full Aperture Solar Calibrator, a solar-diffuser-based system, which has indicated changes of between 1% to 2% per year in the ETM+ gain for bands 1-4 and 8 and less than 0.5%/year for bands 5 and 7. However, most of this change is believed to be caused by changes in the solar diffuser panel, as opposed to a change in the instrument's gain. This belief is based partially on vicarious calibrations and observations of "invariant sites", hyperarid sites of the Sahara and Arabia. Weighted average slopes determined from these datasets suggest changes of 0.0% to 0.4% per year for bands 1-4 and 8 and 0.4% to 0.5% per year for bands 5 and 7. Absolute calibration of the reflective bands of the ETM+ is consistent with vicarious observations and other sensors generally at the 5% level, though there appear to be some systematic differences.  相似文献

The design of a three-channel solar radiometer used to determine total columnar atmospheric water-vapor amounts is presented. The main channel is located in the 0.94-μm water-vapor band, and two other channels are located in adjacent nonabsorption regions of the solar spectrum and are used to remove scattering effects from the main channel. Water-vapor transmittance is determined by means of a modified Langley approach, and these transmittances are converted to columnar water vapor by means of a band model developed at the University of Arizona. Several cases are presented in which columnar water-vapor amounts are determined through the use of the instrument and method described here. These results are compared with sounding-balloon results. Tests of the method indicate that columnar water vapor may be retrieved with an uncertainty of less than 10%.  相似文献

On June 11, 2000, the first vicarious calibration experiment in support of the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) was conducted. The purpose of this experiment was to acquire in situ measurements of surface and atmospheric conditions over a bright, uniform area. These data were then used to compute top-of-atmosphere (TOA) radiances, which were correlated with the camera digital number output, to determine the in-flight radiometric response of the on-orbit sensor. The Lunar Lake Playa, Nevada, was the primary target instrumented by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for this experiment. The airborne MISR simulator (AirMISR) on board a NASA ER-2 acquired simultaneous observations over Lunar Lake. The in situ estimations of top-of-atmosphere radiances and AirMISR measurements at a 20-km altitude were in good agreement with each other and differed by 9% from MISR measurements. The difference has been corrected by adjusting the gain coefficients used in MISR standard product generation. Data acquired simultaneously by other sensors, such as Landsat, the Terra Moderate-Resolution Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MODIS), and the Airborne Visible and Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS), were used to validate this correction. Because of this experiment, MISR radiances are 9% higher than the values based on the on-board calibration. Semiannual field campaigns are planned for the future in order to detect any systematic trends in sensor calibration.  相似文献

The application of flow boiling in microchannels in copper cooling elements for very high heat flux dissipation from microprocessor chips is one of the promising technologies to replace air cooling and water cooling of these units, particularly in mainframes and servers. Recently, the authors have proposed a new theoretical model to predict the critical heat flux (CHF) in microchannels, and it is used here to perform a parametric study to investigate the effects of fluid, saturation temperature, mass flux, inlet subcooling, microchannel diameter, and heated length on CHF for this application. The parametric study shows that CHF is increased by: (i) decreasing channel length, (ii) lowering saturation temperature, (iii) increasing mass flux, (iv) increasing inlet subcooling, and (v) increasing microchannel diameter. The best coolant is water, but water is not feasible for the present application because of its very low saturation pressure at 30–40°C. Of the other four fluids simulated, their order of merit from best to worst is as follows: R-245fa, R-134a, R-236fa, and FC-72. FC-72, however, has a low saturation pressure (in fact, it would operate under vacuum at the saturation temperatures of 30–40°C envisioned here) and is not a candidate fluid for the flow boiling coolant here. Furthermore, the authors have also recently proposed a diabatic flow map for microchannels based on their database for R-134a and R-245fa in 0.5- and 0.8-mm channels. The new CHF model has been incorporated into their map here to predict the transition from annular flow to dry-out, which is a critical design limitation for microprocessor coolers. Importantly, this map then provides the feasible operating range of such coolers with flow boiling as the cooling process, in terms of mass flux and maximum vapor quality at the outlet to avoid CHF.  相似文献

This paper looks at the key issues that need to be addressed during the transition from the emergency phase to the late phase of a radioactive release, and the development of the initial late phase strategy. It discusses the extent to which current national plans and international advice address the needs of decision makers following contamination of inhabited areas and food production systems. Based on this the following recommendations are made: (1) the issues that will arise at the start of the late phase response to a radioactive release require preparation work in advance of any release; (2) this preparation should consider the adequacy of legislation, technical data and modelling, options for waste storage and disposal, resources for monitoring and implementing clean up; (3) late phase preparedness requires regular exercising and (4) the possibility of terrorist releases adds further emphasis to the need for preparedness for the late phase.  相似文献

In an experimental study MRI was used to compare the pathophysiological changes of brain tissue after lateral fluid percussion injury (FPI) versus cold injury (CI) as models of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Two groups of Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 23) were subjected to mild FPI, respectively, CI localized over the right parietal cortex. MRI was performed at different time points including Tlw, T2w and Tlw-CE (Gd-DTPA 0.2 mmol/kg BW) sequences as well as perfusion-weighted imaging with calculation of regional cerebral blood volume (rCBV) and regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF). T2w and Tlw-CE images showed hyperintense areas in the traumatised cortex demonstrating brain edema and blood-brain barrier (BBB)-breakdown increasing up to 12 h. Perfusion-weighted imaging demonstrated a significant decrease of rCBV and rCBF in the ipsilateral cortex of CI animals compared with the contralateral hemisphere. In contrast, rats of the FPI group showed only slight differences in rCBF and rCBV comparing the left and right cortex. The results of our study confirm that both mild FPI and CI produced focal brain edema with concomitant breakdown of the BBB as a model of TBI. Since differences regarding perfusion are much more pronounced in CI our results suggest that, this model more likely seems to reflect pathophysiological changes of brain ischemia, whereas FPI seems to be better suited to model the pathophysiological characteristics of TBI.  相似文献

This work presents a new methodology for the allocation of transmission service cost among network users in energy markets. The proposed method is based on an optimization/game-theoretic framework (Aumann-Shapley) that retains the desirable properties of other existing methodologies such as the Average Participations Factors (APF) and Long Run Marginal Costs (LRMC). The approach is shown to be computationally feasible and presents desirable characteristics in terms of economic coherence and isonomy. Computational results are presented for the Brazilian power system and compared with those obtained by three other methodologies: LRMC, APF, and the current method adopted in Brazil.  相似文献

Use of prostaglandin F2 alpha to synchronize estrus was demonstrated over 3 yr with 2966 dairy heifers in 45 herds. Reproductive status of all heifers was determined before any injections occurred. Anovulatory heifers (8.3%) were not injected or inseminated. Ovulatory heifers received one intramuscular injection and most heifers received two injections of prostaglandin F2 alpha spaced 11 d apart. Observations for estrus and insemination were scheduled and performed by dairy farmers. Insemination of heifers occurred 12 h after detection of estrus or at 80 h after second injection of prostaglandin F2 alpha. Pregnancy rate averaged 50.9% but varied from 0 to 100%. Pregnancy rate after insemination according to estrus (62.8%) was greater than when insemination was at 80 h (39.1%). Low pregnancy rates were associated with limitations in basic management of heifers before or during insemination. Managerial limitations were in timing insemination, range of ages or weights of heifers housed together, number and types of vaccinations, season and diet, frequency of observing heifers for estrus, and number of straws of semen thawed concurrently. Managerial factors that affect fertility are similar whether or not estrus is synchronized. Although agents used to synchronize estrus do not affect fertility directly, managerial limitations on fertility may be accentuated by increased intensity of activity associated with synchronization.  相似文献

Remarkably different behaviors are found when comparing micro-scale flow boiling heat transfer data by distinct authors, even under similar experimental conditions. Such differences are almost certainly related to the complexity of confined forced-flow boiling. Certain aspects of the phenomenon, which are negligible in the macro-scale, become surprisingly relevant when the system size becomes small. From the results reported in the literature on the thermal-fluid features of evaporating flows in small channels, the following study presents a discussion concerning convective boiling heat transfer, highlighting the aspects that are characteristic to confined two-phase flows.  相似文献
