Obesity and hyperlipidemia are major risk factors for developing vascular diseases. Bee bread (BB) has been reported to exhibit some biological actions, including anti-obesity and anti-hyperlipidemic. This study aims to investigate whether bee bread can ameliorate vascular inflammation and impaired vasorelaxation activity through eNOS/NO/cGMP pathway in obese rats. Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10/group), namely: control (normal group), obese rats (OB group), obese rats treated with bee bread (0.5 g/kg/day, OB/BB group) and obese rats treated with orlistat (10 mg/kg/day, OB/OR group). The latter three groups were given a high-fat diet (HFD) for 6 weeks to induced obesity before being administered with their respective treatments for another 6 weeks. After 12 weeks of the total experimental period, rats in the OB group demonstrated significantly higher Lee obesity index, lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein), aortic proinflammatory markers (tumor necrosis factor-α, nuclear factor-κβ), aortic structural damage and impairment in vasorelaxation response to acetylcholine (ACh). Bee bread significantly ameliorated the obesity-induced vascular damage manifested by improvements in the lipid profile, aortic inflammatory markers, and the impaired vasorelaxation activity by significantly enhancing nitric oxide release, promoting endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) immunoexpression. These findings suggest that the administration of bee bread ameliorates the impaired vasorelaxation response to ACh by improving eNOS/NO/cGMP-signaling pathway in obese rats, suggesting its vascular therapeutic role.  相似文献

Structure modification has been found to tune significantly the transparent-conducting performance, especially mobility and conductivity of hydrogenated Ga-doped ZnO (HGZO) films. The strong correlation between film thickness and mobility of the films is revealed. The mobility increases quickly with increasing the thickness from 350 to 900 nm, and then tends to be saturated at further thicknesses. A higher mobility than 50 cm2/Vs can be achieved, which is an extra-high value for polycrystalline ZnO films deposited by using the sputtering technique. The thickness-dependent mobility originates from scatterings on grain boundaries and dislocation-induced defects controlled by thin-film growth. Based on the Volmer-Weber model, an expansion model is built up to describe the thickness-dependent crystal growth of the HGZO films, especially at the thick films. As a result, the 800 nm-thick HGZO film obtains the highest performance with high mobility of 51.5 cm2/Vs, low resistivity of 5.3 × 10?4 Ωcm, and good transmittance of 83.3 %.  相似文献

Separation tests using hollow-fibre modules were performed for the difficult selective extraction of trivalent actinides over fission lanthanides from acidic media. This article shows that with 2,6-di(5,6-dipropyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)pyridine as the extractant, up to 94% americium could be extracted from 1.0 kmol/m3 HNO3, with minimal lanthanide co-extraction. Using a synergistic mixture of bis(chlorophenyl)dithiophosphinic acid and tri-n-octyl phosphine oxide, tests were performed on extraction, lanthanide scrubbing and stripping. In the extraction test, up to 99.99% americium could be extracted from 0.5 kmol/m3 HNO3, with approximately one third of the lanthanides being co-extracted. Mass transfer calculations using a consistent set of input data showed good agreement with the experiments.  相似文献

Tissue composition and the distribution of body mass are described for four genera of East African Bovidae (Madoqua, Gazella, Damaliscus, Hippotragus) with supporting data from four others (Neotragus, Oryx, Tragelaphus, Connochaetes). These species are high in muscle mass, an adaptation convergent with other high-speed terrestrial cursors, bounders, and saltators. The segments below the elbow/cubitus and knee/stifle/genu joints in small bovids are both lighter in percent of total body mass (8.6% TBM) and less heavily muscled (10-15% of total limb musculature) than those segments in macaques (13.6% TBM, 20-25% of the limb musculature). Bovid species differ from one another in the regional distribution of muscle mass. Madoqua kirkii (4-5 kg) concentrates muscle in the lumbar extensors and hindlimbs; large species such as Damaliscus doreas (50-60 kg) and Hippotragus niger (160-220 kg) distribute it more evenly between the lumbar and cervical regions and between the hindlimbs and forelimbs. Gazella dorcas (10-20 kg) is quantitatively intermediate in those characteristics. The redistribution of muscle mass with increasing size correlates with the loss of axial bending of the vertebral column: in small, hindlimb dominant, 'dorsomobile' species such as Madoqua sagittal mobility increases stride length through 'extended' suspension; in large 'dorsostable' species such as Damaliscus and Hippotragus the vertebral column resists bending, consequently abbreviating or omitting this non-contact phase of the gait cycle. Locomotor adaptation as it is reflected in size, shape, and musculoskeletal structure is the key to habitat choice, dietary specialization, social structure, and male agonistic behavior and, therefore, central to the fabric of behavioral ecology.  相似文献

The role of myelin basic protein (MBP) T cell recognition in the induction of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) has been well established in mice and rats. A remarkable restriction has been observed in T cell receptor (TCR) genes utilized by encephalitogenic T cell lines (TCLs) specific for immunodominant epitopes in these species. Pathological similarities between this animal model and multiple sclerosis (MS) has led to consider MBP as a major candidate autoantigen in this human disorder. Unlike in inbred strains of animals, the T cell response to MBP in humans is quite heterogenous with regard to fine epitope specificity. The existence of V alpha and/or V beta restriction in MBP-specific T cells, from MS patients and healthy controls, is still a matter of debate. In this study we generated 77 MBP-specific TCLs from nine healthy donors and showed that peptide 7-27 is one of the most frequently recognized epitopes. 37% of all epitope-specific TCLs recognized this peptide and p7-27 specific TCLs were generated from seven out of the nine subjects studied. A high level of in vivo clonal expansion was observed in p7-27-specific TCLs in several subjects, which however is not specific of this epitope since this phenomenon was also observed in p85-104- and 149-162-specific TCLs.  相似文献

Radiological gout manifestations are detectable in the early stage, but also especially in the chronic stage of gout. Whereas in the early stage only soft tissue mutations (bursitis inflammation) and light calcium deposits are usually discernible, chronic gout leads to asymmetrical, diverse forms of osseous destruction, favouring smaller joints, but also affecting larger ones, which are caused by the intra-articular and extra-articular deposit of tophus material, corresponding to the progression and degree of severity of the illness. Radiologically-detectable changes in other organs, such as the kidneys, will be addressed. The high number of, and to some extent very characteristic, osseous mutations are compared with those mutations which are very similar to the diagnoses of other syndromes affecting the joints. Specifically, problems in differentiating diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, arthritis psoriatica, chondrocalcinosis, and other diseases of the joints will receive special mention. Reference is also made to the extreme diagnostic difficulties resulting from the rare but nevertheless conceivable influence of gout on the spine or sacroiliac joints. The method of magnetic resonance imaging for gout shows a characteristic signal behaviour of the tophus material. It has been determined that, through magnetic resonance tomography, interosseous tophi can be detected earlier and in a more widespread manner than with the aid of native X-ray images, such that an increase in the use of this method is to be expected.  相似文献

Although the lung is almost always involved in sarcoidosis and respiratory failure is not uncommonly caused by intrinsic lung disease, chronic alveolar hypoventilation on the basis of neurosarcoidosis has not been previously described. This report describes the case of a 42-year-old woman with sarcoidosis and documented involvement of the lungs, muscle, peripheral nerves, and skin. She presented with ventilatory failure and a vital capacity of 700mL and required hospitalization for intubation and mechanical ventilation. After failing ventilator weaning attempts and requiring continuous ventilatory assistance, she was extubated to continuous use of noninvasive intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV). She eventually weaned to nocturnal-only use of noninvasive IPPV. However, her PaCO2 remained elevated during daytime hours despite the fact that her vital capacity had returned to 3,600mL. She was not obese, and her oxyhemoglobin saturation (SaO2) was normal on room air. Subsequent attempts to discontinue nocturnal nasal IPPV resulted in marked nocturnal decreases in SaO2 and return of symptoms. This case illustrates successful noninvasive management of an apparently unique occurrence of central alveolar hypoventilation caused by neurosarcoidosis.  相似文献

(1) Background: The unusual accumulation of Na,K-ATPase complexes in the brush border membrane of choroid plexus epithelial cells have intrigued researchers for decades. However, the full range of the expressed Na,K-ATPase subunits and their relation to the microvillus cytoskeleton remains unknown. (2) Methods: RT-PCR analysis, co-immunoprecipitation, native PAGE, mass spectrometry, and differential centrifugation were combined with high-resolution immunofluorescence histochemistry, proximity ligase assays, and stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy on mouse choroid plexus cells or tissues in order to resolve these issues. (3) Results: The choroid plexus epithelium expresses Na,K-ATPase subunits α1, α2, β1, β2, β3, and phospholemman. The α1, α2, β1, and β2, subunits are all localized to the brush border membrane, where they appear to form a complex. The ATPase complexes may stabilize in the brush border membrane via anchoring to microvillar actin indirectly through ankyrin-3 or directly via other co-precipitated proteins. Aquaporin 1 (AQP1) may form part of the proposed multi-protein complexes in contrast to another membrane protein, the Na-K-2Cl cotransporter 1 (NKCC1). NKCC1 expression seems necessary for full brush border membrane accumulation of the Na,K-ATPase in the choroid plexus. (4) Conclusion: A multitude of Na,K-ATPase subunits form molecular complexes in the choroid plexus brush border, which may bind to the cytoskeleton by various alternative actin binding proteins.  相似文献

In many modern enterprises, explicit business process de nitions facilitate the pursuit of business goals in such ways as best practice reuse, process analysis, processe ciency improvement, and automation. Most real-world business processes are large and complex. Successfully capturing, analysing, and automating these processes requires process de nition languages that capture a variety of process aspects with a wealth of details. Mostcurrent process modelling languages, such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN),focus on structural control ows among activities while providing inadequate support for other process de nition needs. In this paper, we rst illustrate these inadequacies through our experiences with a collection of real-world reference business processes from the Aus-tralian lending industry. We observe that the most signi cant inadequacies include lack of resource management, exception handling, process variation, and data ow integration.These identi ed shortcomings led us to consider the Little-JIL language as a vehicle forde ning business processes. Little-JIL addresses the afore-mentioned inadequacies with a number of innovative features. Our investigation concludes that these innovative features are e ective in addressing a number of key reference business process de nition needs.  相似文献
