The high temperature (22–600 °C) properties were evaluated for a Cu-20%Fe composite deformation processed from a powder metallurgy compact. The ultimate tensile strengths decreased with increasing temperature but were appreciably better than those of similarly processed Cu at temperatures up to 450 °C. At 600 °C, the strength of Cu-20%Fe was only slightly better than that of Cu as a result of the pronounced coarsening of the Fe filaments. However, at temperatures of 300 and 450 °C, the strength of Cu-20%Fe is about seven and six times greater, respectively, than that of Cu, as compared to about a two fold advantage at room temperature. Therefore, Cu-20%Fe composites made by deformation processing of powder metallurgy compacts have mechanical properties much superior to those of similarly processed Cu at room temperature and at temperatures up to 450 °C. The pronounced decrease in electrical conductivity of deformation processed Cu-20%Fe as compared to Cu is attributed to the appreciable dissolution of Fe into the Cu matrix which occurred during the fabrication of the starting compacts where temperatures up to 675 °C were used. While the powder metallurgy compacts used for the starting material for deformation processing in this study did not lead to a high conductivity composite, the powder metallurgy approach should still be a viable one if processing temperatures can be reduced further to prevent the dissolution of Fe into the Cu matrix.  相似文献

The linear theory of Pearson (1958) and Nield (1964) is modified here to study liquid tin and include the finite thermal resistances of the bounding layers of boron nitride, copper and air (∼10-2 torr) in the experiments of Ginde et al. (1989). The magnitude of the ΔTc across the layer of liquid tin required for the onset of convection depends on the ratios of the thermal conductivities and thicknesses of the supporting layers of boron nitride and copper to those of the tin.

According to our theory surface tension contributes more than buoyancy to the instability observed experimentally. The critical ΔTc observed required for the onset of convection in the layer of tin, is up to 25% lower than that predicted, which shows the layer is less stable than the theory indicates. Thus the surface of the tin was uncontaminated, or a significantly larger observed critical ΔTc would be expected.

The boundary condition on the thermal fluctuations at the base of the supporting layer of copper does not appear to be important in these experiments. However, the thermal resistance of the boron nitride would have to be assumed to be unrealistically large to obtain agreement within experimental error with the theory.  相似文献

Motion sensors may be applied for the assessment of physical activity. This paper reviews the evolution of these instruments from the mechanical pedometer to the electronic accelerometer. We conclude that for accurate assessment of physical activity under free living conditions the recently introduced accelerometer looks most promising, although little information was available regarding the reliability of these instruments. Subsequently, reliability of an accelerometer with a three-directional sensor was examined. Intrainstrument variation in a bench test was less than 8% during four measurements over a week. Interinstrument variation during treadmill experiments while subjects wore two accelerometers at the same time was on average 22% and was not improved after adjustment for differences found in the bench test. Reproducibility in the treadmill experiment was approximately 76, 85, and 95% at 3, 5, and 7 km/h, respectively. Bench testing revealed that the sensitivity of a piezoelectric element is prone to shifts, probably due to mechanical, electromagnetic, and/or temperature shock, which may be encountered during outdoor application. However, the relevance of the bench test in this study may be questioned, as results did not correspond with the findings in subjects. This needs further investigation.  相似文献

Powder metallurgical techniques have been employed to prepare the precursor billets in the preparation of Cu-15 vol pct Fe alloys by deformation processing. It has been demonstrated that by (1) using high-purity gas-atomized Cu powders blended with commercial high-purity Fe powders and (2) controlling the time/temperature processing conditions within specific limits, it is possible to produce Cu-Fe deformation-processed alloys with strength/conductivity properties matching those of Cu-Nb, Cu-Ta, and Cu-Cr alloys. Processing to optimize the strength of heavily drawn Cu-Nb alloys   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Heavily drawn Cu-Nb alloys display quite high ultimate tensile strengths. A modification to the consumable arc-casting technique used to prepare these alloys is shown to decrease the as-cast niobium dendrite diameter,t 0, and also increase strength. Evaluation of strength, niobium filament spacing and thickness data show that strength varies with as-cast niobium dendrite size as somewhere betweent o –0.36 tot o –0.50 . Splat-cooling techniques demonstrate that minimum niobium dendrite sizes as small as 0.22m are possible. These sizes are over a factor of 10 smaller than has been achieved by consumable arc casting, and it is therefore suggested that processing rapidly solidified powders of Cu-Nb alloys should have significant advantages for preparing high-strength heavily drawn Cu-Nb alloys.  相似文献

Directional solidification experiments have been carried out at low rates in alloys near the N13AI composition in the Ni-AI binary alloy system. Results confirm an earlier study at high rates showing that the eutectic in this system occurs between the β and γ′ phases. It is shown that under certain composition and growth conditions a metastable eutectic between the β and γ phases forms in these alloys. Analysis of the decomposition of this metastable eutectic into the γ′ phase and additional composition measurements are used to provide an improved version of the phase diagram near the N13AI composition.  相似文献

We present several results on the complexity of various forms of Sperner’s Lemma in the black-box model of computing. We give a deterministic algorithm for Sperner problems over pseudo-manifolds of arbitrary dimension. The query complexity of our algorithm is linear in the separation number of the skeleton graph of the manifold and the size of its boundary. As a corollary we get an deterministic query algorithm for the black-box version of the problem 2D-SPERNER, a well studied member of Papadimitriou’s complexity class PPAD. This upper bound matches the deterministic lower bound of Crescenzi and Silvestri. The tightness of this bound was not known before. In another result we prove for the same problem an lower bound for its probabilistic, and an lower bound for its quantum query complexity, showing that all these measures are polynomially related. The effect of layer thickness disorder in periodic multilayers on x-ray reflectivity is investigated numerically and experimentally. We present ensemble calculations, taking into account absorption and interfacial roughness. It is demonstrated that layer thickness disorder yields band broadening and increased integrated reflectivity For applications we concentrate on extrema of the ensembles, giving the highest integrated reflectivity We develop global optimization methods that can also be used to generate specified reflection band structures. In a few examples, applications of the optimization methods are discussed. To illustrate the practical applicability of the methods, we compare experimental realizations to the calculation. In one case we achieve a 42% increase in integrated reflectivity in the 130 ? < λ < 190 ? spectral range with respect to a periodic multilayer with its first-order Bragg peak in the center of that range. Accurate control of layer thicknesses is our main experimental obstacle.  相似文献

The passage from secondary school to university puts students in an environment with different expectations. Not only the expectations towards learning might change, but also towards ICT competences and computer use. The purpose of this article is to find out whether freshmen, after 6 months at the university, changed their self-perception of ICT competences and computer use in comparison with their behaviour at secondary school, and what factors can explain the self-perception of ICT competences and computer use in secondary school, in the university and their possible change. Based on a panel research among 714 freshmen of a large university, this article answers the following questions: (1) What is the self-perception of ICT competences among freshmen and is there a change in this self-perception 6 months after entering the university? (2) How often and for what purpose do freshmen use a computer and is there a change in the frequency of the use of a computer? (3) What factors might influence this attitude, behaviour, and possible change? In function of the basic components of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, & Davis, 2003) hypotheses was developed and tested to answer these questions. Students who consider the computer to be a useful instrument, have control over the computer, possess a certain level of Internet competence, and are at ease with computers are more likely to have the skills needed to maintain a computer, to develop a web site, and to use basic ICT skills. The predictors have little influence on Internet usage. The same predictors contribute modestly to the explanation of the different frequencies of computer use, and a few of the predictors explain parts of change in ICT skills and frequency of computer use.  相似文献
