The chemical method has proved to be the most effective mitigating method of wax deposition in petroleum system as it deals with the root cause of wax formation. Most of the commercial chemicals in the industry are very expensive and toxic. This paper aims the use of biodiesel based additives for improving the rheological behavior and pour points of waxy crude from Nigeria field. The biodiesels derived additives gave better performance than the commercial chemical and the seed oils as greatly improvement in rheology and pour point values of the waxy crude were observed  相似文献

Cobalt sulphide catalyst prepared via a new method involving the precipitation reaction between cobaltous acetate and ammonium sulphide solutions has been shown to be favourably active for the catalytic decomposition of H2S when compared with data for other transition metal sulphides.

The BET surface area of this unsupported catalyst is about an order of magnitude higher than cobalt sulphide formed by direct sulphidation of cobalt oxide with H2S gas. XRD, SEM and TEM analyses were used to obtain bulk composition and morphological characteristics. Catalyst specimen calcined at 823 K showed the best activity.

The kinetics of the decomposition reaction has been studied over this new preparation. Experiments conducted at atmospheric pressure between 933-983 K using about 11 feed compositions showed that below 40% H2S/Ar the reaction was essentially 1st order with respect to H2S partial pressure. Beyond this point, rate remained invariant with feed composition. A mechanism involving catalysis via co-ordinative unsaturation sites on the CoS was proposed and kinetic model based on the cleavage of the surface H-S bond as the rate-determining step appeared to be the most adequate representation of the rate data. Hydrogen production rates at all temperatures also paralleled the behaviour seen for H2S decomposition. CO2 based power and refrigeration cycles have been developed and analyzed in different existing studies. However, the development of a CO2 based comprehensive energy system and its performance analysis have not been considered. In this study, the integration of a CO2 based solar parabolic trough collector system, a supercritical CO2 power cycle, a transcritical CO2 power cycle, and a CO2 based cascade refrigeration system for hydrogen production and multigeneration purpose is analyzed thermodynamically. This study aims to analyze and compare the difference in the thermodynamic performance of comprehensive energy systems when CO2 is used as the working fluid in all the cycles with a system that uses other working fluids. Therefore, two comprehensive energy systems with the same number of subsystems are designed to justify the comparison. The second comprehensive energy system uses liquid potassium instead of CO2 as a working fluid in the solar parabolic trough collector and a steam cycle is used to replace the transcritical CO2 power cycle. Results of the energy and exergy performance analysis of two comprehensive energy systems showed that the two systems can be used for the multigeneration purpose. However, the use of a steam cycle and potassium-based solar parabolic trough collector increases the comprehensive energy systems’ overall energy and exergy efficiency by 41.9% and 26.7% respectively. Also, the use of liquid potassium as working fluid in the parabolic trough collectors increases the absorbed solar energy input by 419 kW and 2100 kW thereby resulting in a 23% and 90.7% increase in energetic and exergetic efficiency respectively. The carbon emission reduction potential of the two comprehensive energy systems modelled in this study is also analyzed.  相似文献

Changes in functionality of wheat flour blended with hydrocolloids (alginate, locust bean gum, guar gum, and xanthan) were investigated. Microvisco-amylograph and flour quality analyses were conducted and showed significant (p < 0.05) differences among samples. Correlation of microvisco-amylograph values with other parameters showed that microvisco-amylograph parameters (final viscosity, setback, breakdown, etc.) showed significant (p < 0.05) correlation with other parameters. Microvisco-amylograph breakdown was significantly (p < 0.05) and positively correlated with dough strength and loaf volume. Microvisco-amylograph end of cooling, final viscosity, setback, and breakdown were identified as valuable for determination of flour, dough, and bread qualities as impacted by addition of hydrocolloids.  相似文献

Fish gelatins obtained from perch fish skin pretreated with various solutions containing acetic acid, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium chloride (NaCl) were successfully characterized for their nanostructure pattern using field emission scanning electron microscopy. Each pretreatment transformed collagen to gelatin with fibril, zigzag cracks, straight rods, and cross-linked rods nanostructure patterns. Pretreatment solutions also affect the gel yield, gel strength, amino acid profile, and functional groups in perch gelatin as analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Samples pretreated with NaCl, NaOH, and acetic acid solution showed the highest gel yield (22.84%) and gel strength (179.84 g). Fourier transform infrared spectra for perch gelatins also revealed weak C–N amide II and III bond stretches as well as weak C=O bond stretch.  相似文献

Multivariate optical elements (MOEs) are multilayer optical interference coatings with arbitrary spectral profiles that are used in multivariate pattern recognition to perform the task of projecting magnitudes of special basis functions (regression vectors) out of optical spectra. Because MOEs depend on optical interference effects, their performance is sensitive to the angle of incidence of incident light. This angle dependence complicates their use in imaging applications. We report a method for the design of angle-insensitive MOEs based on modification of a previously described nonlinear optimization algorithm. This algorithm operates when the effects of deviant angles of incidence are simulated prior to optimization, which treats the angular deviation as an interferent in the measurement. To demonstrate the algorithm, a 13-layer imaging MOE (IMOE, with alternating layers of high-index Nb2O5 and low-index SiO2) for the determination of Bismarck Brown dye in mixtures of Bismarck Brown and Crystal Violet, was designed and its performance simulated. For angles of incidence that range from 42 degrees to 48 degrees, the IMOE has an average standard error of prediction (SEP) of 0.55 microM for Bismarck Brown. This compares with a SEP of 2.8 microM for a MOE designed by a fixed-angle algorithm.  相似文献

The doses over various parts of the body of 7 patients with cancers of the pharynx, breast and cervix during radiotherapy treatment with a megavoltage 60Co therapy machine were measured using LiF TL dosemeters. The doses on the surface of the patients outside the primary beam were found to vary with a maximum of 366 mGy at the abdomen of a cervix cancer patient to a minimum value of 1.1 mGy at the left arm and left leg of a pharynx cancer patient. The observed variations in the doses were attributed to the difference in patients' tumour location, exposure and anatomy. In the treatment of pregnant women and women of childbearing age, the results presented will be a good starting point for estimation of fetus doses and doses to organs outside the planning region.  相似文献
