The mechanism(s) of insulin resistance in non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus remains ill defined. The current studies sought to determine whether non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus is associated with (a) a delay in the rate of onset of insulin action, (b) impaired hepatic and extrahepatic kinetic responses to insulin, and (c) an alteration in the contribution of gluconeogenesis to hepatic glucose release. To answer these questions, glucose disappearance, glucose release, and the rate of incorporation of 14CO2 into glucose were measured during 0.5 and 1.0 mU/kg-1 per min-1 insulin infusions while glucose was clamped at approximately 95 mg/dl in diabetic and nondiabetic subjects. The absolute rate of disappearance was lower (P < 0.05) and the rate of increase slower (P < 0.05) in diabetic than nondiabetic subjects during both insulin infusions. In contrast, the rate of suppression of glucose release in response to a change in insulin did not differ in the diabetic and nondiabetic subjects during either the low (slope 30-240 min:0.02 +/- 0.01 vs 0.02 +/- 0.01) or high (0.02 +/- 0.00 vs 0.02 +/- 0.00) insulin infusions. However, the hepatic response to insulin was not entirely normal in the diabetic subjects. Both glucose release and the proportion of systemic glucose being derived from 14CO2 (an index of gluconeogenesis) was inappropriately high for the prevailing insulin concentration in the diabetic subjects. Thus non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus slows the rate-limiting step in insulin action in muscle but not liver and alters the relative contribution of gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis to hepatic glucose release.  相似文献

Abstract. A simple model for a stationary sequence of integer-valued random variables with lag-one dependence is given and is referred to as the integer-valued autoregressive of order one (INAR(1)) process. The model is suitable for counting processes in which an element of the process at time t can be either the survival of an element of the process at time t - 1 or the outcome of an innovation process. The correlation structure and the distributional properties of the INAR(1) model are similar to those of the continuous-valued AR(1) process. Several methods for estimating the parameters of the model are discussed, and the results of a simulation study for these estimation methods are presented.  相似文献

Piezoceramics with composition (1–z) [Bi0.5(Na0.84K0.16)0.5TiO3]0.96–0.04SrTiO3–zLiTaO3 (z = 0.00–0.030) were formulated by ordinary firing process following by rapid quenching treatment. Effect of LiTaO3 on the structural, electrical and energy-storage properties were analyzed. For the composition with molar ratio 0.025, room temperature large-field piezoelectric coefficient (Smax/Emax = d33*) of 885 pm/V at 3.6 kV/mm was recorded. Furthermore, for compositions z = 0.025 and 0.030, broad temperature stable dielectric constants and low losses from ~135 to 350 °C with a small variation of ± 15% was observed. Additionally, the energy density for z = 0.025 was ~0.60 J/cm3 in the broader temperature range of 75–125 °C, along with the energy-storage efficiency of greater than 70%. These observations suggest that the studied piezo-material compositions are promising for the ceramic actuators and capacitor applications.  相似文献

Secure group communication is a paradigm that primarily designates one-to-many communication security. The proposed works relevant to secure group communication have predominantly considered the whole network as being a single group managed by a central powerful node capable of supporting heavy communication, computation and storage cost. However, a typical Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) may contain several groups, and each one is maintained by a sensor node (the group controller) with constrained resources. Moreover, the previously proposed schemes require a multicast routing support to deliver the rekeying messages. Nevertheless, multicast routing can incur heavy storage and communication overheads in the case of a wireless sensor network. Due to these two major limitations, we have reckoned it necessary to propose a new secure group communication with a lightweight rekeying process. Our proposal overcomes the two limitations mentioned above, and can be applied to a homogeneous WSN with resource-constrained nodes with no need for a multicast routing support. Actually, the analysis and simulation results have clearly demonstrated that our scheme outperforms the previous well-known solutions.  相似文献
