Specialized induction machines for deep surface and surface hardening

Conclusion Experience has shown the economic desirability of production and introduction into the national economy of specialized hardening equipment such as induction machines. Such machines are especially effective in heat treatment of heavily loaded machine parts, including those of complex configuration and which are highly metal consuming.For the purpose of rational and effective utilization of metals further broadening of investigations, development, and production of specialized equipment together with the production of universal purpose machines is desirable.Inductor Novozybkov Plant. Influence of the surface state of inorganic scintillation materials on their performance characteristics (review)

The influence of the state of the surfaces of scintillators, which are produced on the basis of alkali halide, oxide, and semiconductor crystals and treated by different methods, are considered on their performance characteristics. Data on new-generation abrasive materials are presented. The prospects for the further development of processes used to treat inorganic crystalline scintillation elements are outlined.     

Use of oxygen for limestone burning in rotary kilns

Conclusions The results of an investigation of ways of improving the burning of limestone and increasing the productivity of the rotary kilns at the Krivorozhstal Plant furnish grounds for using oxygen in the burning of the limestone and to carry out the burning operation in kilns equipped with Volga grid-type coolers.When using Karakub limestone, dust production during the burning and handling of the fine fraction is 1.5–2 times lower than with Balaklava limestone.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 6, pp. 21–26, June, 1978.     

Lining steel tapping apertures of oxygen converters

Conclusions The use of blocks for lining steel discharge apertures substantially reduces the number of repairs, and cuts their work content.The resistance of periclase-spinel blocks and blocks made from brine magnesia is 80–81 heats.The maximum resistance (132 heats) was achieved by using blocks made from fused magnesite.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 7, pp. 5–9, July, 1970.
