An extra-heavy crude oil underground upgrading process is described which involves the downhole addition of a hydrogen donor additive under steam injection conditions (280-315°C and residence times of at least 24-h). Laboratory experiments showed a 4° increase in the API gravity (from 9 to 12°) of the upgraded product, a two-fold reduction in the viscosity and, an approximately 8% decrease in the asphaltene content with respect to the original crude. Further increases on the temperature led to products with improved properties reaching 15°API at 315°C. It was found that the presence of the natural formation (catalysts) and methane (natural gas) is necessary to enhance the properties of the upgraded crude oil. From GC and GC-MS results a reaction pathway is proposed that involves hydrogen transfers from tetralin to the extra-heavy crude oil resulting in the formation of 1,2-dihydronaphthalene. This compound is then transformed into naphthalene, further upgrading of crude oil through hydrogen donation. The results of the experiments carried out in the presence and absence of the mineral formation and with an inert solid (SiC) strongly indicate that the former acts as a catalyst and not as a heat transfer matrix. Isotopic labeling studies (CD4 and 13CH4) give evidences that, most probably, methane is involved in the upgrading reactions.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel decentralized variable structure neural control approach for large-scale uncertain systems, which is developed using recurrent high-order neural networks (RHONN). It is assumed that each subsystem belongs to a class of block-controllable nonlinear systems whose vector fields includes interconnection terms, which are bounded by nonlinear functions. A decentralized RHONN structure and the respective learning law are proposed in order to approximate online the dynamical behavior of each nonlinear subsystem. The control law, which is able to regulate and to track the desired reference signals, is designed using the well-known variable structure theory. The stability of the whole system is analyzed via the Lyapunov methodology. The applicability of the proposed decentralized identification and control algorithm is illustrated via simulations as applied to an interconnected double inverted pendulum.  相似文献

This study investigated whether changes in the technological/social environment in the United States over time have resulted in concomitant changes in the multitasking skills of younger generations. One thousand, three hundred and nineteen Americans from three generations were queried to determine their at-home multitasking behaviors. An anonymous online questionnaire asked respondents to indicate which everyday and technology-based tasks they choose to combine for multitasking and to indicate how difficult it is to multitask when combining the tasks. Combining tasks occurred frequently, especially while listening to music or eating. Members of the “Net Generation” reported more multitasking than members of “Generation X,” who reported more multitasking than members of the “Baby Boomer” generation. The choices of which tasks to combine for multitasking were highly correlated across generations, as were difficulty ratings of specific multitasking combinations. The results are consistent with a greater amount of general multitasking resources in younger generations, but similar mental limitations in the types of tasks that can be multitasked.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Analyses were performed to determine local control and cosmetic outcome of breast carcinoma patients with prosthetically augmented or reconstructed breasts who had received radiation therapy (RT). METHODS: Twenty-one newly diagnosed breast carcinoma patients with prosthetically augmented or reconstructed breasts were treated with external beam RT. All patients received whole breast RT (median dose, 50.4 gray [Gy]) and 19 were boosted to a median dose of 60.4 Gy. A median dose of 50.4 Gy was delivered to the regional lymph nodes in 12 patients. Tissue equivalent bolus material was used in six patients. Seventeen patients received adjuvant systemic therapy. Cosmetic results were evaluated at 3-6-month intervals. RESULTS: With a median follow-up of 32 months, good/excellent cosmetic results were observed in 71% of patients (100% in those with augmented breasts and 54% in those with reconstructed breasts). Four patients (19%) with fair/poor cosmetic outcomes required implant removal and/or revision. Multiple clinical and treatment-related factors were analyzed for their impact on cosmetic outcome. A worsened cosmetic result was observed with increasing stage (P = 0.076), breast reconstruction (vs. augmentation) (P = 0.030), and bolus application (P = 0.016). All patients with fair/poor cosmetic outcomes had time intervals from implant insertion to RT ranging from 53-213 days. Two patients developed an isolated local recurrence within the augmented breast. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with prosthetically augmented breasts can undergo RT and expect good/excellent cosmetic results. Patients with reconstructed breasts are at a significantly greater risk for cosmetic failure. This risk may be related to the higher percentage of patients with advanced disease, those who received bolus application, and those who received earlier delivery of RT (after the cosmetic procedure) in reconstructed breasts.  相似文献

The authors describe 9 patients with bipolar affective disorder associated with cerebrovascular lesions. Eight had negative family histories of affective disorders and late age at onset (after age 40) of manic-depressive symptoms. Only one, with positive family history of affective disorders, developed mood swings before age 40. Clinical subtypes of bipolar disorder and patterns of affective cycling in these stroke patients resembled those previously reported in functional bipolar disorder. Five patients had concurrent hyperkinetic movement disorders, and one depressed patient presented with unilateral left-sided parkinsonism that disappeared during a manic switch. In most patients, bipolar affective disorder was associated with right hemisphere lesions that involved subcortical and midline structures. Findings suggest that damage to frontal-basal ganglia-thalamocortical circuits by subcortical vascular lesions may simultaneously provoke disorders of movement and mood regulation.  相似文献

The oxidation by ozone of several chlorophenols (CPs): 4-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, 2,3,4, 6-tetrachlorophenol, tetracholorocatechol (3,4,5, 6-tetrachloro-2-hydroxy phenol) and 4-chloroguaiacol (4-chloro-2-methoxy phenol), is studied in order to provide values of the overall rate constant for the reaction between ozone and these chlorophenols. Single ozonation experiments of 4-chlorophenol were conducted in an homogeneous system, and ozonation reactions of CP mixtures were performed in a heterogeneous system, leading to the evaluation of the overall ozonation rate constants in acidic aqueous solutions. These second order rate constants increase several order of magnitude with the pH as does the degree of deprotonation of the dissolved compounds (i.e. from 10(3) to 10(9)l/(mols) for different CPs). The specific rate constants for the ozonation of the non-dissociated and dissociated forms of the studied CPs are also determined and reported. The values obtained allow calculation of the overall rate constants and prediction of the reactivities of the several CPs at different operating conditions in the whole range of pH.  相似文献

The influence of indium on the properties of Pt–Re/Al2O3 catalysts used in naphtha reforming is studied. The addition of indium to the Pt–Re/Al2O3 catalyst produces a big decrease of acidity. It also produces an inhibition of the metal function, i.e., dehydrogenation and hydrogenolysis activity. The reaction of n-C5 isomerization shows that indium addition decreases the total activity of the Pt–Re catalyst but increases the selectivity to the i-C5 isomers. The selectivity to low cost light gases (C1–C3) is particularly decreased. The reaction of n-C7 reforming showed that addition of indium increases the stability of the catalyst and the selectivity to aromatics, and decreases the production of light gases.  相似文献

This paper addresses fundamental issues associated with the development of a real-time magnetic-field imaging system for nondestructive testing of prestressed and reinforced concrete. Modeling results have shown that with a square coil of 300 times300 times2.5 mm3, 10-mm rebars can be imaged down to a depth of 100 mm. Studies also indicate that the vertical component of the induced magnetic field is most favorable as it can readily be reconstructed to yield geometry and dimensional information pertaining to the rebar structure.  相似文献

Apparent rate constants for the reactions of four selected pharmaceutical compounds (metoprolol, naproxen, amoxicillin, and phenacetin) with chlorine in ultra-pure (UP) water were determined as a function of the pH. It was found that amoxicillin (in the whole pH range 3-12), and naproxen (in the low pH range 2-4) presented high reaction rates, while naproxen (in the pH range 5-9), and phenacetin and metoprolol (in the pH range 2.5-12 for phenacetin, and 3-10 for metoprolol) followed intermediate and slow reaction rates. A mechanism is proposed for the chlorination reaction, which allowed the evaluation of the intrinsic rate constants for the elementary reactions of the ionized and un-ionized species of each selected pharmaceutical with chlorine. An excellent agreement is obtained between experimental and calculated rate constants by this mechanism.The elimination of these substances in several waters (a groundwater, a surface water from a public reservoir, and two effluents from municipal wastewater treatment plants) was also investigated at neutral pH. The efficiency of the chlorination process with respect to the pharmaceuticals elimination and the formation THMs was also established. It is generally observed that the increasing presence of organic and inorganic matter in the water matrices demand more oxidant agent (chlorine), and therefore, less chlorine is available for the oxidation of these compounds. Finally, half-life times and oxidant exposures (CT) required for the removal of 99% of the four pharmaceuticals are also evaluated. These parameters are useful for the establishment of safety chlorine doses in oxidation or disinfection stages of pharmaceuticals in treatment plants.  相似文献
