Increasing the corrosion resistance of equipment due to the use of film-forming amines

Results of a study of tube specimens cut from hot-water boilers show that film-forming octadecyl amine (ODA) used in the process of preservation removes deposition from the surface of the metal. An ODA film is preserved on the surface after repeated washing of the latter with hot water. Tagging of η mesons using the pd → 3Heη reaction near threshold

A zero-degree spectrometer for tagging η mesons on the CELSIUS/WASA facility is described, and its characteristics are presented. Tagging of η mesons is performed by detecting ³He ions produced by reaction pd → ³Heη close to the production threshold. The low background level (<2%) is in good agreement with the data obtained earlier on the SATURNE accelerator.

Quantum analysis of measurement results

It is shown that a stochastic matrix operator (quantum measurement matrix) may be considered in some cases as a density matrix. Optimal measurement of frequency instability in a multi-channel comparator

It is proposed that the weighted-mean estimator of the Allan variance be used as an optimal estimator in measurements of the frequency instability of a particular signal by means of a multi-channel measurement system. The article presents an algorithm for numerical selection of the weight actors for an arbitrary number of signals used in the measurement that makes it possible to minimize the dispersion of the weighted-mean estimator. It also presents results from an analysis of analytic expressions and a numerical simulation based on the proposed algorithm.
