Several electrostatic technologies, such as separation of granular mixtures, flocking, printing, or biological cell manipulation, are based on the accurate control of conductive particle motion in insulating gases or liquids by means of relatively high DC electric fields. This paper is aimed at characterizing the behavior of such particles by numerical modeling of two aspects: (1) particle motion under the action of electric field forces and (2) insulation breakdown triggered by mobile particles. The equations of particle motion were written by taking into account both gravitational and drag forces, as well as the rebound at particle impact with the electrodes. If the particles move in ionized air, their charge varies in time. In that case, the equation of particle charge should be added to the mathematical model. The output data of the programs for numerical simulation of particle behavior are in good agreement with the available experimental results. Particle movements were shown to be influenced by the intensity of the electric field, by the density of the space charge, by size and mass density of the particles, as well as by their coefficient of restitution at impact with the electrodes. The conclusions regarding the behavior of conductive particles in insulating fluids are useful for the development of improved electrostatic separation technologies; they are of particular interest to all manufacturers of high-voltage equipment  相似文献

Nonfiltered rectifiers and pulsed power supplies are often used for the energization of the high-voltage electrodes in various electrostatic installations. The aim of this paper is to investigate the ionic charging of insulating particles in the pulsatory electric fields specific to such applications. In a first set of numerical simulations, the space charge was considered constant in time, which means that the ion generation is not related to the voltage drop between the electrodes. A second set of simulations was carried out using the assumption that the space charge is generated by the pulsed corona from one of the electrodes. The computed results, which were found in good agreement with the experimental data, show that the amount of charge acquired by a particle depends on the following factors: (1) particle transit time through the electric field zone; (2) space charge density; and (3) ratio between the corona onset voltage and the amplitude of the variable voltage applied to the electrodes. These factors are discussed in correlation with the operating parameters of roll-type corona-electrostatic separators, but the conclusions are valid for a wider group of industry applications  相似文献

Ternary Ni(II) complexes of hydrazine and eight heterocyclic sulfonamides possessing carbonic anhydrase (CA) inhibitory properties, were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic, magnetic, thermogravimetric, and conductimetric measurements. We report the deposition of Si-N films by multipulse excimer laser ( = 308 nm, FWHM = 30 ns) ablation of Si wafers placed in a slow flow of NH3 in the pressure range (1 bar-1 mbar). The films are deposited on to a Si collector placed parallel to the Si target. We succeeded in depositing pure amorphous Si3N4 films at a pressure of 1 mbar of NH3. The deposition rate reached a maximum value of 0.2–0.3 nm per pulse. At lower pressures, the deposited films consist of a fine mixture of three amorphous phases (amorphous stoichiometric silicon nitride, amorphous non-stoichiometric silicon nitride and amorphous silicon). The amorphous silicon is prevalent in films deposited at a pressure of several to several tens of bars. Droplets of polycrystalline -Si are sometimes visible on the film surface. The experimental evidence, is analysed with a view to elucidating the participation in the chemical synthesis of the three main stages of the process: the substance expulsion from the target by laser ablation, the transition through the gas of the expulsed substance and it's final impact on the collector. We conclude that silicon nitride is mostly synthesized during the impact on the collector of the flow of the ablated substance.  相似文献

This research aims to complex validate radar displacement products over Bucharest based on Global Navigation Satellite System or GNSS. Validation was represented by the comparison of the recent TerraSAR-X (TSX) displacement results with field GNSS data. For this purpose, 24 and 27 high-resolution images acquired from the TSX satellite between 2011 and 2014 were processed by Permanent Scatterer Inteferometry (PSI) and Small BASeline Subset (SBAS) – interferometric techniques using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The images were selected from a larger pool of SAR images, after consulting weather databases, which helped eliminate the images acquired under adverse weather conditions. GNSS locations were cross-checked on high-resolution optical images and 21 ground points (including three permanent stations) were selected. All these points were (1) characterized by high coherence on radar images; (2) were on the ground; (3) were situated in large vacant spaces; and (4) far away from radar obstacles such as trees. A major challenge in achieving the research goal was to overcome the lack of permanent stations at the ground level within the area of Bucharest. Instead of permanent stations, our team designed and installed forced centring systems that remained stable over time, eliminating the instalment errors of GNSS receivers. The line-of-site (LOS) components derived from GNSS data have been compared with those of the SAR scatterers closest to the GNSS markers (never coinciding). For each location, the vertical reading was projected in the LOS of the SAR sensor. These readings were compared with the displacement values determined at the locations of permanent scatterers (PSs) within 100 m from the GNSS nodes, by eliminating all scatterers on buildings. The language contains definitions for complex spatial and temporal data, arithmetic and boolean expressions, modules, and while-programming statements with their temporal, spatial, and spatio-temporal versions. In AGAPIA v0.1 one can write programs for open processes located at various sites and having their temporal windows of adequate reaction to the environment. Starting from the idea of determinism in membrane systems, we introduce a language generating device consisting of morphisms placed in the nodes of a tree. Initial strings are given in the leaves; by iteratively applying the morphisms to them, we produce new strings, which are collected in the root of the tree. Such a device is called a tree-system of morphisms (in short, a T system). We investigate here the power of T systems, both in the extended (a terminal alphabet is considered and only strings over it are accepted) and non-extended case, mainly in comparison with classes of languages in Lindenmayer hierarchy. The efficiency of electrostatic separation processes depends on a multitude of factors, including the characteristics of the granular mixtures to be sorted, the feed rate, the configuration of the electrode system, the applied high voltage, and the environmental conditions. The possibility of optimizing the operation of industrial electrostatic separators using rather simple computed-assisted experimental design techniques has already been demonstrated. The aim of the present work is to analyze the peculiarities of application of a more sophisticated group of response surface experimental design techniques that make use of quadratic functions for modeling the electrostatic separation process. One unique contribution to this work is to consider the economic value of the process in addition to the technical result. The 11 electrostatic separation tests, corresponding to a central composite design, were carried out on samples of chopped electric wire wastes. The CARPCO laboratory roll-type electrostatic separator employed for this study enabled a rigorous control of two factors: the applied high-voltage level and the speed of the rotating roll electrode. The objective was to maximize the benefits from the recycling of both constituents of the binary copper-polyvinyl chloride granular mixture. The optimum operating conditions computed with the quadratic model derived from the experimental results were in good agreement with the data of pilot-plant tests. Thus, the highest extraction of useful materials was obtained at high voltage and low speed, while the optimum conditions for greatest economic value were found to be high voltage and high speed. The response surface methodology can be easily applied to most of the industrial applications of electrostatic separation technologies.  相似文献

We propose an alternative approach to generate languages by means of P systems: building up an appropriate representation for a string by means of a corresponding membrane structure and then generating the string by visiting the membrane structure according to a well-specified strategy. To this aim, we consider P systems with active membranes, allowing membrane creation or division or duplication and dissolution, where the output of a computation may be obtained either by visiting the tree associated with the membrane structure, or by following the traces of a specific object, called traveller, or sending out the objects. For each of these approaches, we provide characterizations of recursively enumerable languages based on P systems that use different sets of operations for modifying the membrane structure. Francesco Bernardini: He started his Ph.D. at the University of Sheffield in December 2002 after having previously got a master degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa in Italy. His research is dedicated to the study of theoretical aspects of membrane computing (P systems) and discrete models of biological systems based on P systems. Marian Gheorghe, Ph.D.: His main research interests are in computational models and their applications to software modelling and testing, formal specifications of agent based systems, software engineering. He was investigating computational power of various generative devices (regular, context-free, fully initial; grammar systems; L-systems and variants).
