This paper studies the effect of the number of component stations (parallelism), work transfer, processing time distributions, buffers and buffer allocation schemes on throughput and interdeparture time variability of assembly systems. As an alternative to work transfer, variability transfer is introduced and its effectiveness is assessed. Previous research has indicated that the optimal throughput displays an anomaly at certain processing time distributions and, this phenomenon is now thoroughly analyzed and the underlying details are uncovered. In this article, a hybrid global–local optimization algorithm is proposed to solve continuous engineering optimization problems. In the proposed algorithm, the harmony search (HS) algorithm is used as a global-search method and hybridized with a spreadsheet ‘Solver’ to improve the results of the HS algorithm. With this purpose, the hybrid HS–Solver algorithm has been proposed. In order to test the performance of the proposed hybrid HS–Solver algorithm, several unconstrained, constrained, and structural-engineering optimization problems have been solved and their results are compared with other deterministic and stochastic solution methods. Also, an empirical study has been carried out to test the performance of the proposed hybrid HS–Solver algorithm for different sets of HS solution parameters. Identified results showed that the hybrid HS–Solver algorithm requires fewer iterations and gives more effective results than other deterministic and stochastic solution algorithms.  相似文献

Non-covalently bonded crystalline inclusion compounds (ICs) have been formed by threading host cyclic starches, α-cyclodextrins (α-CDs), onto guest poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) chains and by co-crystallization of guest PCL and host urea (U). PCLs were coalesced from both ICs by appropriate removal of the α-CD and U hosts. When added at low concentrations, PCL coalesced from its α-CD–IC served as an effective self-nucleating agent for the bulk crystallization of as-received PCL from the melt. Film sandwiches consisting of two layers of as-received (asr) (control), and one layer each of asr and self-nucleated (nuc) (composite) PCLs were produced by melt pressing. A composite sandwich consisting of a film of neat PCL coalesced from its U–IC (c-PCL) and a film of asr-PCL was also melt pressed. DSC showed that both composite films maintain their characteristic structures and properties even after melt-pressing them together. Both single component film sandwiches exhibited strong interfaces and better mechanical properties than the asr-PCL/asr-PCL control composite sandwiches. These results are similar to those previously obtained on similarly prepared nylon-6 (N-6) sandwich composites made with asr- and nuc-N-6 films with the same levels of crystallinity. However, while the elongation at break was greatly reduced in the asr-N-6/nuc-N-6 composite, asr-/asr-, asr-/c-, and asr-/nuc-, PCL/PCL-composites all showed similarly large elongations at break. The above room temperature and well below room temperature glass-transition temperatures of N-6 and PCL are likely the cause of their widely different elongations at break.  相似文献

Alginate has an extensive usage in the immobilization of many cell types. Although they have high biocompatibility, commercial alginates contain various degrees of contaminants such as polyphenols, endotoxins and proteins. Thus, these alginates show cytotoxicity against sensitive cell types such as hybridoma cells. In the studies so far, owing to this fact, commercially purchased high-priced ultrapure alginates have been used in the immobilization of hybridoma cells for monoclonal antibody production. However in this study, as a novelty, low-priced commercial alginate was purified, and then the cultivation of alginate-immobilized hybridoma cells was performed for feasible monoclonal antibody production. Low-priced commercial alginate was purified with a profitability ratio of 40%. Then, an optimized immobilization procedure was conducted effectively by using the purified alginate. During more than 25 days of cultivation, serum concentration was kept low, and approximately 2 times greater monoclonal antibody production was achieved, in comparison with its free suspended counterpart. The results showed that the efficiency of monoclonal antibody production via alginate-immobilized hybridoma cultivation can be increased by performing a proved in-house purification method. By shedding light on the efficiency of the in-house purification method, the results also indicated a feasible way of monoclonal antibody production.  相似文献
