Conventional teaching of sensors, based on lectures, static written materials, laboratories, etc., has become rather difficult recently, at all levels of education. The main objective of the described project is the development of a multimedia supported education material that teaches the application of microelectronics and packaging technologies in designing smart sensor devices for the next generation intelligent systems. The new approach of teaching sensorics tries to exploit all advantages of multimedia computer aided teaching not only for keeping the competitiveness but also in order to overcome the specific difficulties of the particular area. The course material will be available for the technical community, for other university professors for teaching, and also will continuously be developed on the Internet and on CDs. The paper will highlight the structure of the course material and demonstrate the animated sensor examples  相似文献

Most applications of hyperspectral imagery require processing techniques which achieve two fundamental goals: 1) detect and classify the constituent materials for each pixel in the scene; 2) reduce the data volume/dimensionality, without loss of critical information, so that it can be processed efficiently and assimilated by a human analyst. The authors describe a technique which simultaneously reduces the data dimensionality, suppresses undesired or interfering spectral signatures, and detects the presence of a spectral signature of interest. The basic concept is to project each pixel vector onto a subspace which is orthogonal to the undesired signatures. This operation is an optimal interference suppression process in the least squares sense. Once the interfering signatures have been nulled, projecting the residual onto the signature of interest maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio and results in a single component image that represents a classification for the signature of interest. The orthogonal subspace projection (OSP) operator can be extended to k-signatures of interest, thus reducing the dimensionality of k and classifying the hyperspectral image simultaneously. Bladder cancer (BC) is the 10th most frequent cancer in the world. The initial diagnosis and surveillance of BC require a combination of invasive and non-invasive methods, which are costly and suffer from several limitations. Cystoscopy with urine cytology and histological examination presents the standard diagnostic approach. Various biomarkers (e.g., proteins, genes, and RNAs) have been extensively studied in relation to BC. However, the new trend of liquid biopsy slowly proves to be almost equally effective. Cell-free DNA, non-coding RNA, and other subcellular structures are now being tested for the best predictive and diagnostic value. In this review, we focused on published gene mutations, especially in DNA fragments, but also epigenetic modifications, and non-coding RNA (ncRNA) molecules acquired by liquid biopsy. We performed an online search in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using the terms “bladder cancer”, in combination with “markers” or “biomarkers” published until August 2022. If applicable, we set the sensitivity and specificity threshold to 80%. In the era of precision medicine, the development of complex laboratory techniques fuels the search and development of more sensitive and specific biomarkers for diagnosis, follow-up, and screening of BC. Future efforts will be focused on the validation of their sensitivity, specificity, predictive value, and their utility in everyday clinical practice.  相似文献

PURPOSE: A significant number of cancer patients will require an alternate route of morphine administration at some point during their illness. This study compared the clinical efficacy and safety of a novel morphine sulfate controlled-release suppository (MS-CRS) and subcutaneous (SC) morphine in patients with cancer pain. METHODS: Thirty patients with cancer pain were randomized in a double-blind crossover study to MS-CRS every 12 hours or SC morphine every 4 hours for 4 days each, using a 2.5:1 analgesic equivalence ratio. Pain intensity was assessed using a visual analog scale (VAS) and the Present Pain Intensity Index of the McGill Pain Questionnaire. Nausea and sedation were also assessed with a VAS. Evaluations were made by the patient at 8 AM, noon, 4 PM, and 8 PM and rescue morphine consumption recorded. RESULTS: Twenty-three patients completed the study (13 men and 10 women; mean age, 64.0 +/- 2.0 years) and were treated with mean daily MS-CRS and SC morphine doses of 326 +/- 69 mg and 138 +/- 28 mg, respectively. There was a small but significant difference in overall ordinal pain-intensity scores in favor of MS-CRS (0.7 +/- 0.1 v 0.9 +/- 0.1, P = .0459). There were no significant differences between MS-CRS and SC morphine in overall VAS scores for pain intensity (13 +/- 3 v 13 +/- 3 mm), sedation (23 +/- 3 v 25 +/- 4 mm), and nausea (8 +/- 2 v 9 +/- 2 mm). The mean daily rescue analgesic consumption during MS-CRS and SC morphine did not differ significantly (1.2 +/- 0.4 v 1.2 +/- 0.4 doses/d). CONCLUSION: MS-CRS, administered every 12 hours, provides analgesia comparable to SC morphine and represents a reliable, noninvasive alternative method of pain control for patients unable to take oral morphine.  相似文献

In drug design, one way of improving metabolic stability is to introduce fluorine at a metabolically labile site. In the early stages of drug design, identification of such sites is challenging, and a rapid method of assessing the effect of fluorination on a putative drug’s metabolic stability would be of clear benefit. One approach to this is to employ micro‐organisms that are established as models of drug metabolism in parallel with the synthesis of fluorinated drug analogues. In this study, we have used the filamentous fungus Cunninghamella elegans to identify the metabolically labile site of the nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drug flurbiprofen, to aid in the design of fluorinated derivatives that were subsequently synthesised. The effect of the additional fluorine substitution on cytochrome P450‐catalysed oxidation was then determined via incubation with the fungus, and demonstrated that fluorine substitution at the 4′‐position rendered the drug inactive to oxidative transformation, whereas substitution of fluorine at either 2′ or 3′ resulted in slower oxidation compared to the original drug. This approach to modulating the metabolic stability of a drug‐like compound is widely applicable and can be used to address metabolic issues of otherwise good lead compounds in drug development.  相似文献

Although copper has a number of advantageous parameters in comparison with aluminum, and therefore, is expected to become the metallization of future high-speed, high-density silicon devices, its application introduces a new failure mechanism into the systems which has never occurred with aluminum; this is the electrochemical migration (not equal to the electromigration) resulting in short circuit formation between adjacent metallization stripes under DC bias. A great alert signal must be given for semiconductor producers in order to perform lifetime tests before introducing copper into the everyday fabrication process, otherwise the reliability of future electronic systems may dramatically be destroyed  相似文献

The areal distributions of the minerals alunite, kaolinite, and calcite in an approximately 1.8km 2 area of the Cuprite mining district, Nevada, have been mapped by applying constrained energy minimization (CEM) to remotely sensed data from the HYperspectral Digital Imagery Collection Experiment (HYDICE) sensor, a 210 channel, 0.4 mum to 2.5 mum airborne hyperspectral imaging spectrometer. The image data analysed here have ground sample distances of approximately 3 m. CEM is a powerful and rapid technique for mineral mapping which requires only the spectrum of the mineral to be mapped and no prior knowledge of background constituents. Other spectral image processing techniques applied to the data produce results essentially identical to those of CEM and which agree with the mapping of Ashley and Abrams (1980).  相似文献

Preparation process of an enzyme-based bipotentiostatic amperometric uric acid sensor has been investigated. The suitability of three different Uricase (EC 1.7.3.3) enzymes (from porcine liver, Candida Utilis, Bacillus Fastidiosus) is described in this paper. The sensor fabricated of Uricase from Candida Utilis showed a linear response to uric acid in the 0-0.9 mM concentration range and the response current range was 0-3.3 /spl mu/A. The sensor fabricated of Uricase from Bacillus Fastidiosus has been saturated at 0.72 mM and the response was not linear above 0.24 mM. The response current range was 0-0.9 /spl mu/A. The sensor fabricated of Uricase from porcine liver has not given detectable electrical signal due to its very low specific activity. The substrate was prepared by screen printing on sintered alumina ceramic sheets using pastes of Au or Pd-Pt as working (W) and counter (C) and Pt-Ag as a reference (R) electrode. Galvanostatic electrocopolymerization of dodecyl sulfate doped poly-N-methyl-pyrrole (pNMPy) layer was used for enzyme immobilization. The layout of the sensor consists of four electrode surfaces (W/sub 1/, W/sub 2/, R, and C). By the bipotentiostatic technique, the two working electrodes (with and without the enzyme) are identically prepared and polarized, while the currents in the two circuits are measured simultaneously; thus, the current of the W/sub 2/-C circuit (I/sub 2/) can be substracted as a nonspecific background noise. The nonspecific oxidation of uric acid on the poly-N-methyl-pyrrole layer at 0.2 V has been demonstrated in oxygen bubbled buffer solution.  相似文献

Depression is one of the leading mental illnesses worldwide and lowers the quality of life of many. According to WHO, about 5% of the worldwide population suffers from depression. Newer studies report a staggering global prevalence of 27.6%, and it is rising. Professionally, depression belonging to affective disorders is a psychiatric illness, and the category of major depressive disorder (MDD) comprises various diagnoses related to persistent and disruptive mood disorders. Due to this fact, it is imperative to find a way to assess depression quantitatively using a specific biomarker or a panel of biomarkers that would be able to reflect the patients’ state and the effects of therapy. Cytokines, hormones, oxidative stress markers, and neuropeptides are studied in association with depression. The latest research into inflammatory cytokines shows that their relationship with the etiology of depression is causative. There are stronger cytokine reactions to pathogens and stressors in depression. If combined with other predisposing factors, responses lead to prolonged inflammatory processes, prolonged dysregulation of various axes, stress, pain, mood changes, anxiety, and depression. This review focuses on the most recent data on cytokines as markers of depression concerning their roles in its pathogenesis, their possible use in diagnosis and management, their different levels in bodily fluids, and their similarities in animal studies. However, cytokines are not isolated from the pathophysiologic mechanisms of depression or other psychiatric disorders. Their effects are only a part of the whole pathway.  相似文献
