Core‐shell polyurea microcapsules with a 40% fragrance load were prepared by interfacial polymerization of guanidine and a technical polyisocyanate prepolymer containing mainly the biuret trimer derived from hexamethylene di‐isocyanate (HDI). Residual free polyisocyanates were still present at a level slightly above 100 mg NCO functional group per kg as determined by liquid chromatography hyphenated with tandem mass spectrometry of HDI and of its biuret trimer. This level was decreased by a factor of about 10 when the polymerization process was allowed to proceed for a longer time and by a factor of about 500 when guanidine or NaOH were added to the microcapsule suspension to act as scavengers. In these cases, polyisocyanate conversion was observed to proceed for about one month when the microcapsules were stored at room temperature before reaching a plateau at a level below 1 mg NCO/kg. Overall, ammonia was the most efficient polyisocyanate scavenger as no residual HDI biuret trimer and only less than 2 μg NCO/kg as HDI were detected at the end of the process, a level which had dropped below the limit of detection of 0.25 μg NCO/kg after about 40 days of aging at room temperature. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We investigate the formation of bioactive/inorganic coprecipitates of polyphenols catechins with calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate. Extracted from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, green tea catechins are efficient free radical scavengers, but their purported benefits from the perspective of prevention, health, and nutritional physiology are accompanied by unpleasant organoleptic characteristics: they are notoriously bitter. Selective complexation of polyphenols with metal salts is a possibility to mask or inactivate bitterness and/or off-flavors. We produce such complexes using a continuous coprecipitation process. With excess calcium chloride present in the matrix we observe a correlation of the carbonate to total anions molar ratio with the catechin load. To characterize the composition and structure of the coprecipitates we combine elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectroscopy (LC/MS-MS). We quantify the release kinetics in different model environments to predict the behavior of the catechins from the coprecipitates in model media simulating the conditions during oral ingestion and storage. The dissolution data suggest that the release profile of these delivery systems can be influenced and fine-tuned via the anion composition of the mineral carrier.  相似文献

The wavelength of the 25.7 keV γ-ray standard in the decay of 161Tb has been determined as λ(25.7) = 48.334488(64) pm. The present accuracy of 1.3 ppm is higher by a factor of 5 than that of earlier measurements. Simultaneously we have redetermined the wavelengths of transitions at 48.9, 67.8 and 74.6 keV with a precision of 1.2, 1.7 and 1.3 ppm respectively.  相似文献

Several types of commercial 100-Ω resistors can be used with the cryogenic current comparator to maintain the resistance unit, derived from the quantized Hall effect (QHE), and to disseminate this unit to laboratory resistance standards. Up until now, the transport behavior of these resistors has not been investigated. Such an investigation is of importance for carrying out comparisons that are close to the level of a direct comparison of two QHE apparatuses. A set of five 100-Ω resistors from three different manufacturers has been sent to 11 participating national metrological institutes. All laboratories but one have measured the resistors based on their laboratory's quantized Hall resistance measurements. A constant drift model has been applied, and the results are evaluated in such a way that the transport properties of these resistors are treated independently for the different types of resistor. In the framework of an European project aiming at the realization of a system for the calibration of capacitance standards based on the quantum Hall effect (QHE), optimized QHE devices for the metrological application as dc as well as ac standards of resistance are developed. The present paper describes the dc characterization of a large number of devices with different layouts, contact configurations, carrier concentrations, and mobilities. The results demonstrate the influence of the device parameters on the critical current, the width of the quantized plateaus, the longitudinal voltages along the device and the quantized Hall resistance. Recommendations are given for the layout and mobility of QHE devices in view of their use as dc standards of resistance  相似文献
