This work presents the design of an adaptive competitive self-organizing associative memory (ACSAM) system for use in classification and recognition of pattern information. Volterra and Lotka's models of interacting species in biology motivated the ACSAM model; a model based on a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Self-organizing behavior is modeled for unsupervised neural networks employing the concept of interacting/competing species in biology. In this model, self-organizing properties can be implicitly coded within the systems trajectory structure using only ODEs. Among the features of this continuous-time system are: 1) the dynamic behavior is well-understood and characterized; 2) the desired fixed points are the only asymptotically stable states of the system; 3) the trajectories of ACSAM derived from the weight activities of the gradient system have no periodic or homoclinic orbits; and 4) the heteroclinic orbits that exist between equilibrium states are structurally unstable and can be removed by small perturbations.  相似文献

This paper investigates the ability of crab shell to remove nickel(II) ions from aqueous solution in a packed bed up-flow column with an internal diameter of 2 cm. The experiments were performed with different bed heights (15-25 cm) and using different flow rates (5-20 ml/min) in order to obtain experimental breakthrough curves. The bed depth service time (BDST) model was used to analyze the experimental data and the model parameters were evaluated. The column regeneration studies were carried out for seven sorption-desorption cycles. The elutant used for the regeneration of the sorbent was 0.01 M EDTA (disodium) solution at pH 9.8 adjusted using NH4OH. Due to continuous usage of crab shell, a performance loss was observed as the breakthrough curves become more flattened also indicated by the broadened mass transfer zone. The breakthrough time decreased uniformly from 28.1 to 9.5 h as the cycles progressed from one to seven, whereas nickel uptake remained approximately constant throughout the seven cycles. The life-factors for crab shell in terms of critical bed length and breakthrough time were found to be 1.1 cm/cycle and 0.17 per cycle, respectively. The elution efficiency was greater than 99.1% in all the seven cycles. The pH profiles during both sorption and desorption process were also reported. In sorption cycles, there was a sudden raise in pH in the early part of the process and then the pH decreased as the time progressed. In desorption cycles, pH decreased in initial stages and followed by gradual increase in pH, which eventually reached the pH of the inlet elutant.  相似文献

Due to the increasing demand for fossil fuels and environmental threat, a number of renewable sources of energy have been studied worldwide. In the present investigation a high linolenic linseed oil methyl ester has been investigated in a constant speed, DI diesel engine with varied fuel injection pressures (200, 220 and 240 bar). The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of injection pressures on performance, emissions and combustion characteristics of the engine. The test results show that the optimum fuel injection pressure is 240 bar with linseed methyl ester. At this optimized pressure the thermal efficiency is similar to diesel and a reduction in carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbon and smoke emissions with an increase in the oxides of nitrogen was noticed compared to diesel. The combustion analysis shows that, the ignition delay is lower at higher injection pressures compared to diesel and the peak pressure is also higher at full load. The combustion duration was almost same at all the injection pressures. It is concluded that linseed methyl ester at 240 bar injection pressure is more efficient than 200 and 220 bar, except for nitrogen oxides emission.  相似文献

Cross‐linked enzyme crystals (CLEC) of laccase were prepared by crystallizing laccase with 75% (NH4)2SO4 and cross‐linking using 1.5% glutaraldehyde. The cross‐linked enzyme crystals were further coated with 1 mmol L?1 β‐cyclodextrin by lyophilization. The lyophilized enzyme crystals were used as such for the biotransformation of pyrogallol to purpurogallin in a packed‐bed reactor. The maximum conversion (76.28%) was obtained with 3 mmol L?1 pyrogallol at a residence time of 7.1 s. The maximum productivity (269.03 g L?1 h?1) of purpurogallin was obtained with 5 mmol L?1 pyrogallol at a residence time of 3.5 s. The productivity was found to be 261.14 g L?1 h?1 and 251.1 g L?1 h?1 when concentrations of 3 mmol L?1 and 7 mmol L?1 respectively were used. The reaction rate of purpurogallin synthesis was maximum (2241.94 mg purpurogallin mg?1 CLEC h?1) at a residence time of 3.5 s, when 5 mmol L?1 pyrogallol was used as the substrate. The catalyst to product ratio calculated for the present biotransformation was 1:2241. The CLEC laccase had very high stability in reuse and even after 650 h of continuous use, the enzyme did not lose its activity. Copyright © 2006 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

This paper introduces a recurrent network for mapping of interclass members without performing a learning process. This allows a member of class A to be mapped to a member of class B. Given sample members of each class, a backpropagation network is trained to form the corresponding class boundaries. Upon completion of the training process, the weights obtained are used in a recurrent network which performs the interelass member mapping without any further training. This mapping is achieved as the recurrent network evolves in time. The initial state of the network is mapped to its equilibrium state. The interclass member mapping network (IMMN) has many applications in self-correcting systems. In this paper, the IMMN is developed to represent two classes, namely class B (for instance, a class for representing members with desirable and correct features) and class A (members with incorrect features). The self-correcting aspect of the network is demonstrated by mapping a member from class A to a member of class B. Two examples are given. One represents a case of linearly separable classes. The other explores an application example, where two categories are used, namely, poorly and well-designed manufacturing parts. Given a poorly designed part, the network will suggest corrections resulting in a well-designed part. This example has nonlinear decision regions and shows the generalization capability of the network.  相似文献

There are efforts to develop modified P91 steel (9Cr-1Mo-V) consumables to optimize strength and fracture toughness in weldments for similar and dissimilar welding of 9Cr-1Mo (modified P91) for both new construction and replacement of serviced components. Fracture toughness is an important consideration which plays a vital role in determining the performance and life of the materials under the given service conditions. Toughness characterization was done by the Crack Tip Opening Displacement (CTOD) method. Welding results in a variety of non-equilibrium microstructures in the HAZ of 9Cr-lMo-V, modified P91 steel. These variations of microstructures from wrought base material through transformed HAZ to cast weld metal, may give rise to considerable inhomogeneity with respect to tensile & creep strength and ductility across the weld joints. However the mechanical properties of the individual regions of HAZ are difficult to obtain because of the small extent over which each region exists. Welded joints are used as structural parts of boilers and pressure vessels working at high temperatures, hence the main requirement is creep resistance. In the present investigation, the fracture toughness characteristics of base metal and weld metal have been evaluated by CTOD method as per the standard BS 7448. The fracture surfaces of the CTOD tested specimens were examined under Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Fractographic studies revealed the mode of failure and the characteristics of the fracture surface.  相似文献
