Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is a potent inflammatory mediator which is released by various inflammatory cells and produced by certain tissues, including the kidney. PAF has been shown to increase glomerular permeability to protein and to decrease glomerular filtration rate (GFR) by contracting mesangium. On the basis of these observations, it has been suspected that PAF may play a role as mediator of glomerular damage in glomerular nephritis. To examine this possibility, we studied the effects of a specific PAF antagonist, R-75,317, on the development of an experimental model of anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) glomerulonephritis. Glomerulonephritis was initiated by injecting rabbit anti-rat GBM serum into rats. Proteinuria gradually developed after serum injection, plateaued at week 2, and remained at the high level of week 2 throughout the experimental period (6 wk). Chronic treatment with R-75,317 (10 mg/kg/day i.p.) tended to delay the onset of proteinuria and significantly accelerated the recovery phase. Creatinine clearance (Ccr) fell to 40% at week 3. R-75,317 treatment completely prevented this decline of Ccr. Histological changes in this model (glomerular hypertrophy, proliferation of mesangial matrix and interstitial fibrosis) were also ameliorated by the R-75,317 treatment. The results suggest that PAF may play a role in the development of glomerulonephritis and that PAF antagonists could be used in the treatment of human renal disease. Design of active vehicle suspension has tradeoffs between three main performance metrics (passenger comfort, suspension deflection and road holding ability). It has been known that each performance can be achieved by H controller and they can be gathered by LPV (Linear Parameter Varying) method. However, because the suspension deflection limit was not explicitly considered, this limit may be exceeded. In this paper, the authors propose a “reference shaping“ based method in order to improve the control performance. In this approach, a “virtual reference” signal is imposed to the system such that the suspension deflection is kept small. The effectiveness of the approach is examined by numerical simulations. We report a very rare case of an avulsion of the pectoralis major tendon in association with a two-part proximal humerus fracture. Pectoralis major tendon avulsion was confirmed intraoperatively during open reduction and internal fixation of the humerus fracture. In retrospect, the preoperative radiographic finding of posterolateral and proximal displacement of the humeral shaft suggested an injury to the pectoralis major. Because others have reported that the best treatment of a pectoralis major tendon avulsion is surgical repair, we feel that it is important to suspect such an injury in a proximal humerus fracture when this anatomic displacement is present.  相似文献

We have investigated the surface of thin films (thickness 2 µm) of solid H2 between 1.5 and 4.2 K by measuring the ac conductivity of surface-state electrons (SSE). The films were prepared on a glass substrate by quench condensation at 1.5 K and were therefore initially strongly disordered. In fact the surface of the virgin films before any heat treatment was so rough that no current due to SSE could be observed. Annealing the films decreased the surface roughness and gave rise to a thermal-activation-type temperature dependence of the SSE conductivity. In proton-conducting oxides, analyses for their electronic structure contribute to the understanding of interactions between defects in them. In this study, electronic band alignment of (1−x)BaZr0.8Y0.2O3−δ(BZY)–xSrZr0.95Y0.05O3−δ(SZY) proton-conducting solid-solution system (BSZY) which has high defect concentration and the deep valence band is experimentally investigated. By using thin-film specimens for optical absorption measurements, absorption edges derived from electron transition from the valence band to the conduction band which was insensitive to the proton incorporation were clearly observed in spite of the high defect concentration. The obtained optical band gap energy increased from 5.61 to 5.89 eV with increasing x, which was consistent with a composition dependence of Zr(Y)O6 octahedral tilting. Ultraviolet photon-yield spectroscopy (UV-PYS) measurements under vacuum condition revealed that BZY and SZY had ionization energy of 6.98 and 7.31 eV, respectively, and thus the absolute energy levels of the valence band maximum and the conduction band minimum of BSZY were experimentally clarified. We propose that the combination of the optical absorption measurements using thin-film specimens and the UV-PYS measurements under vacuum condition is effective in evaluating fundamental electronic structures of proton-conducting oxides.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a design method for an inverted pendulum system with a structured uncertainty. We consider that such an uncertainty is caused by a measurement error in the rotation angle of the pendulum and effects on the system structure that cannot be included in the nominal elements. For the uncertain system obtained, we apply an integral tracking control and the guaranteed cost control to design a robust, stable, tracking control system. Finally, we show the effectiveness of our method through a numerical example.  相似文献

In 1997, C.R. Dyer and A. Rosenfeld introduced an acceptor on a two-dimensional pattern (or tape), called the pyramid cellular acceptor, and demonstrated that many useful recognition tasks are executed by pyramid cellular acceptors in time proportional to the logarithm of the diameter of the input. They also introduced a bottom-up pyramid cellular acceptor which is a restricted version of the pyramid cellular acceptor, and proposed some interesting open problems of the bottom-up pyramid cellular acceptors. On the other hand, we think that the study of threedimensional automata has been meaningful as the computational model of three-dimensional information processing such as computer vision, robotics, and so forth. In this paper, we investigate about bottom-up pyramid cellular acceptors with three-dimensional layers, and show their some accepting powers. The authors and Hitachi Cable, Ltd. have recently developed small-diameter optical fiber and its fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor for embedment inside a lamina of composite laminates without strength reduction. The outside diameters of the cladding and polyimide coating are 40 and 52 μm, respectively. First, a brief summary is presented for applications of small-diameter FBG sensors to damage monitoring in composite structures. Then, we propose a new damage detection system for quantitative evaluation of delamination length in CFRP laminates using Lamb wave sensing. In this system, a piezo-ceramic actuator generates Lamb waves in a CFRP laminate. After the waves propagate in the laminate, transmitted waves are received by an FBG sensor attached on or embedded in the laminate using a newly developed high-speed optical wavelength interrogation system. This system was applied to detect interlaminar delamination in CFRP cross-ply laminates. When the Lamb waves passed through the delamination, the amplitude decreased and a new wave mode appeared. These phenomena could be well simulated using a finite element analysis. From the changes in the amplitude ratio and the arrival time of the new mode depending on the delamination length, it was found that this system could evaluate the delamination length quantitatively. Furthermore, small-diameter FBG sensors were embedded in a double-lap type coupon specimen, and the debonding progress could be evaluated using the wavelet transform.  相似文献

The Planer vertical take-off and landing (PVTOL) aircraft is a typical example of an underactuated mechanical system and has a nonminimum-phase nature. When considering output tracking control, the Input/Output (I/O) linearization method is not appropriate since the stability of the internal dynamics is not guaranteed. Hauser et al. regarded this system as a slightly nonminimum-phase system which approximates to a minimum-phase one. Their control scheme yielded good results when the coupling factor was small, but the results were not acceptable when the coupling factor increased. In this article, we propose two approaches to improve the control performance. First, we consider the approximation error of Hauser's scheme as uncertainty, and apply the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) method, which possesses robustness against uncertainty, to determine the stabilizing feedback coefficients. Second, from the fact that the tracking error is unavoidable, we use the “virtual reference trajectory” to design the tracking control law, and optimize this trajectory to reduce the tracking error between the “actual reference trajectory” and the “resulting trajectory”. This optimization also improves the control performance by choosing a suitable performance index. By using our approach, we achieve better performance even if the coupling factor is increased.
