Designing software involves good perception, good reasoning, and a talent to express oneself effectively through programming and interactive languages. Semiotic theories can help HCI designers increase their power to perceive, reason and communicate. By presenting some of the results we have reached with semiotic engineering over the last few years, we suggest that the main contributions of semiotic theory in supporting HCI design are: to provide designers with new perceptions on the process and product of HCI design; to bind together all the stages of software development and use, giving them a unique homogeneous treatment; and to pose innovative questions that extend the frontiers of HCI investigations. 相似文献

Osmotic dehydration assisted by ultrasound (ODAU) at low temperatures reduces water activity (aw) and maintains nutrients. The influence of solution concentration (SC; 20 to 60° Brix, xylitol and sorbitol) and ultrasound application time (tus, 0 to 40 min) in ODAU of yacon was studied with the aid of a response surface method. The optimum condition with respect to mass transfer parameters, aw, and fructan retention was SC of 60° Brix for both solutions and tus of 2.67 min for xylitol samples and 0 min for sorbitol samples. The application of ultrasound improved dehydration but resulted in depolymerization of fructans. 相似文献

Microseaming is a significant technological development in the can manufacturing process that has been employed in the packaging of tomato processed products in Brazil. It was developed by the Brazilian company Grupo Kramer in 1990. Due to its reduced dimensions in relation to the traditional can closing system, i.e. the conventional double seam, microseam mechanical resistance as well as its capability to guarantee package integrity when submitted to processing and distribution remain questionable. In this study microseam resistance was compared to conventional double seam resistance when submitted to mechanical abuse through a standardized impact on the seam region positioned at angles of 45 and 67°. As evaluation parameters of closing integrity loss after impact swelling resulting from the cans external contact with a bacterial suspension, internal vacuum loss and can centre depth changes were used. The microseam presented a performance comparable to the conventional double seam for the impact at 45°, whereas at 67° its performance was found to be superior. This superior microseam performance can be credited to its being more malleable, i.e., to its greater capability of deforming itself when submitted to a puncture-type impact, to its more compact structure and to the type of deformation resulting from this type of impact. 相似文献

This work presents a new methodology for the allocation of transmission service cost among network users in energy markets. The proposed method is based on an optimization/game-theoretic framework (Aumann-Shapley) that retains the desirable properties of other existing methodologies such as the Average Participations Factors (APF) and Long Run Marginal Costs (LRMC). The approach is shown to be computationally feasible and presents desirable characteristics in terms of economic coherence and isonomy. Computational results are presented for the Brazilian power system and compared with those obtained by three other methodologies: LRMC, APF, and the current method adopted in Brazil. 相似文献

Many replication protocols employ a threshold model when expressing failures they are able to tolerate. In this model, one assumes that no more than t out of n components can fail, which is a good representation when failures are independent and identically distributed (IID). In many
real systems, however, failures are not IID, and a straightforward application of threshold protocols yields suboptimal results.
Here, we examine the problem of transforming threshold protocols into survivor-set protocols tolerating dependent failures.
Our main goal is to show the equivalence between the threshold model and the core/survivor set model. Toward this goal, we
develop techniques to transform threshold protocols into survivor set ones. Our techniques do not require authentication,
self-verification or encryption. Our results show in one case that we can transform a threshold protocol to a subset by spreading
a number of processes across processors. This technique treats a given threshold algorithm as a black box, and consequently
can transform any threshold algorithm. However, it has the disadvantage that the transformation is not possible for all sets
of survivor sets. The second technique instead focuses on transforming voters: functions that evaluate to a value out of a set of tallied values in a replication protocol. Voters are an essential part
of many fault-tolerant protocols, and we show a universal way of transforming them. With such a transformation we expect that
a large number of protocols in the literature can be directly transformed with our technique. It is still an open problem,

Traditional molecular and biochemical methods, such as schizodeme analysis, karyotyping, DNA fingerprinting, and enzyme electrophoretic profiles, have shown a large variability among Trypanosoma cruzi isolates. In contrast to those results, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of sequences from the 24S alpha ribosomal RNA gene and from the mini-exon gene nontranscribed spacer indicated a dimorphism among T. cruzi isolates, which enabled the definition of two major parasite lineages. In the present study, 86 T. cruzi field stocks (68 isolated from humans with defined presentations of Chagas' disease and 18 from triatomines) derived from four Brazilian geographic areas were typed by the PCR assay based on the DNA sequences of the mini-exon and 24S alpha rRNA genes. These stocks were ordered into the two major T. cruzi lineages. Lineage 1 was associated mainly with human isolates and lineage 2 with the sylvatic cycle of the parasite. 相似文献

The effect of calcium lactate on osmodehydrated guavas in sucrose and maltose solutions was monitored during storage under passive modified atmosphere for 24 d at 5 °C. Sample texture and color characteristics, microbial spoilage, sensory acceptance, structural changes, and gas composition inside the packages were periodically evaluated. Calcium lactate inhibited microbial growth on guavas, with yeast and mold counts in the order of 10(2) CFU/g throughout storage. The calcium salt reduced respiration rate of guava products, showing O(2) and CO(2) concentrations around 18% and 3% inside the packages. A firming effect on fruit texture, with up to 5 and 2 times higher stress and strain at failure values and tissue structure preservation could also be attributed to calcium lactate use. However, fruits treated with calcium lactate, osmodehydrated in maltose and sucrose solutions, showed sensory acceptance scores below the acceptability limit (4.5) after 13 and 17 d of storage, respectively. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: The interaction between lipoxygenase‐active soybean flour (LOX) and ascorbic acid (AA), on colour, rheological and sensory properties of wheat bread was studied with the aim of reducing the applied quantity of additives in bread formulations. RESULTS: The ascorbic acid (0–500 ppm) and active soybean flour (0–1%) mixture improved bread‐crumb colour by lowering the yellow hue in a higher proportion than those expressed by the components alone, characterising a synergistic mechanism (?b = 15.1? (1.7 × LOX) ? (0.5 × AA) ? (5.8 × LOX × AA), where ?b represent the estimated value for the yellow hue parameter). No differences in flavour and porosity were seen between the samples. As supported by the instrumental methods, breads made with active soybean flour and ascorbic acid (LOX + AA) had whiter crumbs and were softer and springier than controls as assessed by a trained sensory panel. In summary, the combination of both active soybean flour and ascorbic acid showed synergism, promoting a greater bleaching effect than when used alone. CONCLUSION: These results suggest the potential use of active soybean flour as a synergistic ingredient in the substitution of artificial additives in bread making. Since the interaction on the bleaching response was not linear and active soybean flour showed a higher iron concentration (66.40 ± 4.23 µg g?1) than non‐active soybean flour (52.30 ± 0.40 µg g?1), more studies are warranted to establish the biochemical mechanisms involved in this interaction. The presence of dibenzo-p-dioxins, polychlorinated dibenzofurans, and polychlorinated biphenyls in food is an important consideration for food safety, especially in fish matrices that are susceptible to bioaccumulation of those compounds from marine environments. In this context, the production of a reference material (RM) for this analytical scope is of great importance for ensuring the reliability of the results generated by monitoring programs. A lyophilized material was produced by spiking tilapia fillets with 29 compounds, and the material was evaluated based on the potential for using it as a certified reference material (CRM) or in proficiency testing (PT) schemes. A pilot experiment was performed to evaluate the incorporation of the analytes in tilapia fillets using standards prepared in nonane and in fish oil. The process yield was approximately 16% for both conditions, but higher mean recoveries were achieved with fish oil. The tilapia fillets were processed, and a portion of this bulk was spiked and then homogenized. The spiked and unspiked portions were frozen prior to lyophilization. Each freeze-dried portion was homogenized and sieved, and then, the portions were mixed, packed, and stored under refrigeration. The material was considered homogeneous for all analytes based on the criteria established for PT. Of the tested analytes, 27 were found to be stable in the short-term design (p > 0.05) when the material was kept at 45 ± 2 °C for 9 days. Long-term stability was evaluated at 2, 4, 6, and 8 months, and 22 of the analytes were found to be stable through up to 4 months of storage based on the criteria defined in references related to both the production of CRM and PT. The contributions of the homogeneity and stability in the short- and long-term uncertainties were estimated and indicated the adequacy of the material for use as a reference for trueness experiments. 相似文献
