An ideal broadband beamformer requires an increased number of taps for each filter, which in turn increases the complexity of the design. It is shown that for angles near the broadside of the antenna the beamforming is more accurate compared to the angles near the endfire, and it is advantageous to use recursive filters combined with a computed number of zeros for angles near the endfire. The proposed method is used for estimating the arrival angle of the incoming signals and displays uniform accuracy for all angles  相似文献

In this paper novel modified Hermite polynomial functions for use in impulse radio (ultra-wideband) communications are proposed. With these functions pulse shapes which are orthogonal and have nearly constant pulse width regardless of the pulse order are generated. These properties hold under the effects of differentiation. An M-ary communication system is constructed using these pulse shapes. A Matlab model for generating the pulses is designed and the effect of timing jitter on the performance of the system is investigated by computer simulation.  相似文献

Direct electrical probing of molecular materials is often impaired by their insulating nature. Here, graphene is interfaced with single crystals of a molecular spin crossover complex, [Fe(bapbpy)(NCS)2], to electrically detect phase transitions in the molecular crystal through the variation of graphene resistance. Contactless sensing is achieved by separating the crystal from graphene with an insulating polymer spacer. Next to mechanical effects, which influence the conductivity of the graphene sheet but can be minimized by using a thicker spacer, a Dirac point shift in graphene is observed experimentally upon spin crossover. As confirmed by computational modeling, this Dirac point shift is due to the phase-dependent electrostatic potential generated by the crystal inside the graphene sheet. This effect, named as chemo-electric gating, suggests that molecular materials may serve as substrates for designing graphene-based electronic devices. Chemo-electric gating, thus, opens up new possibilities to electrically probe chemical and physical processes in molecular materials in a contactless fashion, from a large distance, which can enhance their use in technological applications, for example, as sensors.  相似文献

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are among the major sources of air pollution. Catalytic ozonation is an efficient process for removing VOCs at lower reaction temperature compared to catalytic oxidation. In this study, a series of alumina supported single and mixed manganese and cobalt oxides catalysts were used for ozonation of acetone at room temperature. The influence of augmenting the single Mn and Co catalysts were investigated on the performance and structure of the catalyst. The manganese and cobalt single and mixed oxides catalysts of the formula Mn10%-CoX and Co10%-MnX (where X= 0, 2.5%, 5%, or 10%) were prepared. It was found that addition of Mn and Co at lower loading levels (2.5% or 5%) to single metal oxide catalysts enhanced the catalytic activity. The mixed oxides catalysts of (Mn10%-Co2.5%) and (Mn10%-Co5%) led to acetone conversion of about 84%. It is concluded that lower oxidation state of the secondary metal improves ozone decomposition and oxidation of acetone.  相似文献

Pyromellitic dianhydride (1,2,4,5‐benzenetetracarboxylic acid 1,2,4,5‐dianhydide) (1) was reacted with L‐phenylalanine (2) in a mixture of acetic acid and pyridine (3 : 2) at room temperature, then was refluxed at 90–100°C and N,N′‐(Pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐phenylalanine diacid (3) was obtained in quantitative yield. The imide‐acid (3) was converted to N,N′‐(Pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐phenylalanine diacid chloride (4) by reaction with thionyl chloride. Rapid and highly efficient synthesis of poly(amide‐imide)s (6a–f) was achieved under microwave irradiation by using a domestic microwave oven from the polycondensation reactions of N,N′‐(Pyromellitoyl)‐bis‐L ‐phenylalanine diacid chloride (4) with six different derivatives of 5,5‐disubstituted hydantoin compounds (5a–f) in the presence of a small amount of a polar organic medium that acts as a primary microwave absorber. Suitable organic media was o‐cresol. The polycondensation proceeded rapidly, compared with the conventional melt polycondensation and solution polycondensation, and was almost completed within 10 min, giving a series of poly(amide‐imide)s with inherent viscosities about 0.28–0.44 dL/g. The resulting poly(amide‐imide)s were obtained in high yield and are optically active and thermally stable. All of the above compounds were fully characterized by means of FTIR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, inherent viscosity (ηinh), solubility test and specific rotation. The use of wavelet transform in multicarrier ultra wideband (UWB) systems is analysed and the results are compared with Fourier-based multicarrier UWB systems. It is well known that convolution in time domain is equivalent to multiplication in frequency domain; however, there is no closed-form expression in the literature for convolution's counterpart in the wavelet domain. A formula is derived to represent convolution's counterpart in the wavelet domain. Furthermore, the effects of choice and type of wavelet filters and different decomposition levels are investigated. Finally, a performance comparison of both techniques for IEEE 802.15.3a channel models using IEEE802.15.3a multiband-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing UWB specifications is provided.  相似文献

The effect of UWB interference on a Wi-Max receiver has not been addressed in the literature. This effect is analysed and it is shown that for a realistic scenario a DS-UWB system interference will not have a destructive effect on the performance of a Wi-Max receiver.  相似文献
