The article examines the process of journal retention over time as the most authoritative sources of scientific papers. Formal concepts of retentivity are introduced, retentivity orders and retentivity directions. The postulates, which are formulated in the article, link the probability of retention to the time interval between the two compared journal lists, to the ratio of the sizes of these lists, as well as to some qualitative characteristics of the journals. A mathematical model of the retentivity process is built on the basis of these postulates. The model is compared with data from the Journal Citation Reports—Science Edition for a 16-year period. The results of this comparison show a high degree of conformity of the model to the real process of retentivity, and reveal important features of this process. 相似文献

The synthesis of the UV Absorbing compounds named mycosporines (MYCs) has been detected in a few basidiomycetous yeast groups. Conspicuous accumulation of mycosporine-glutaminol-glucoside (MGG) in yeasts requires photo-induction and its photoprotective function has been postulated. The distribution of the ability to produce MYCs appeared to be related to the yeast taxonomic affiliation. In view of the potential significance of MYCs in yeast taxonomy, we here studied the distribution of this trait among dimorphic basidiomycetes of the Pucciniomycotina. Of the 94 fungal species (377 strains and 33 genera) tested, almost half were MYC-positive and MGG was the main compound produced. MGG synthesis was observed for representatives of five of seven Pucciniomycotina classes, indicating that this trait is widely distributed in this group. MGG detection proved useful for the differentiation of species of the polyphyletic genera, such as Rhodotorula and Sporobolomyces, that are phylogenetically separated. MGG quantification and UV tolerance studies in Cystobasidiomycetes supported the idea that the habitat of origin of each strains is important in the level of MGG synthesis and that MYCs have a photoprotective function in yeasts. The taxonomic value of this trait in fungal systematics is discussed. 相似文献

The hypothesis proposed by the author expresses that Zipf's law is only fulfilled on rank distributions which correspond to highly integrated (closed) subject fields. This hypothesis was tested on vast amount of empirical data. It was shown that document files in integrated fields are characterised by thematic, chronological (and sometimes geographical) closedness, as well as closedness by citation. The approach, methods and algorithms for defining the scientific level of an assigned paper array are expounded. A scientific level is defined, both with respect to specific subject areas (Web of Science Categories), and as some integral indicator with respect to the entire spectrum of topics that correspond to the papers from an assigned array. Web of Science (WoS) indexed papers as well as the most important data elements that describe specific papers (journals, in which they are published; the workplaces of authors, research funds that supported these papers, etc.) are used as initial data. The following now classical bibliometric indicators are used as initial indicators: the number of publications, the impact factor of a journal, and the aggregate impact factor of a WoS subject category. Indicators derived from classical ones are introduced. The calculation of a scientific level is based on the joint application of derived and classical bibliometric indicators. The examples of the results from calculating a scientific level are presented. 相似文献
