Leather manufacturing involves a crucial energy-intensive drying stage in the finishing process to remove its residual moisture and generates important heat gradients. The numerical model presented in this study has been developed to describe the drying process of porous medium: bovine leather that undergoes deformation due to shrinkage. The mathematical formulation of fundamental heat, mass and momentum transfers’ phenomena during drying summarizes a two-dimensional model considering elastic behavior of bovine leather. The evolution of moisture content, temperature, and mechanical stresses during drying was discussed. The model was validated with experimental results. Numerical simulations show good agreement with experimental results. The study shows that the elastic model keeps the stress sign at the final stage of drying. The deformations induce tensional stresses near the surface equilibrated by compressive stresses within the product. They reached their maximum for normal stresses equal to 5.97 and 3.52?MPa at around 2145 and 868?s, respectively, for normal stresses along x and y directions and then decrease.  相似文献

The aim of the present work is to enhance the thermal management avoiding the high-thermal stress on the outer surface of the parabolic trough receiver (PTR) derived from nonuniform concentrated solar flux distribution. A parabolic trough concentrating (PTC) system with second homogenizing reflector (HR) is numerically designed and optimized to ensure a uniform concentrated solar flux on the PTR walls. For this purpose, a three-dimensional optical model has been developed to analyze quantitatively the improvement made by the HR using the optical efficiency and qualitatively basing on the uniformity of the solar flux density distribution over the entire surface of the PTR. The validation of the numerical tool is presented, and the algorithm of the design process has been proposed and detailed. As a preliminary trait, it was revealed that the peak of the designed system performance is achieved with a rim angle of 68° avoiding simultaneously the aberration and the blocking effects. Despite the optical efficiency decrease by about 7% compared with the conventional PTC design, the uniformity of the solar flux distribution has been strongly improved such that the maximum local solar flux density gradient is decreased from 80 to 11 kW/m2 equivalent to a decrease of 86.25% with respect to the conventional PTC and the average local density is about 25.5 kW/m2.  相似文献

This work deals with decentralized control of multiple nonholonomic mobile sensors for optimal coverage of a given area for sensing purposes. We assume a density function over the region to be covered, which can be viewed as a probability density of the phenomena to be sensed. The density function is unknown but assumed to be linearly parameterized with unknown parameter weights. We consider a second‐order dynamic model for the mobile agents and derive decentralized adaptive control laws to achieve optimal coverage of the region. We then consider the case where the dynamic model of the agents are not fully known, and then develop parameter adaptation laws to achieve the optimal coverage objective. We test the derived algorithms using simulations and compare our proposed controllers with kinematics‐based controllers. We find that the feedback control design based on the dynamic model performs significantly better than controllers solely relying on kinematic models. Furthermore, for the unknown dynamics case, our controller outperforms the nonadaptive controller with poor initial parameter estimates.  相似文献

In this work, chitosan hydrogel has been synthesized and used to impart pH‐sensitivity and antimicrobial finish to cotton fabric. In order to enhance the incorporation rate of hydrogel, anionic, and cationic activation of the textile surface was applied and then compared. The antibacterial activity of the fabric was then studied. The results revealed an enhancement of the antibacterial activities of the modified fabrics against Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogene, and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria's. The capacity of material to respond to pH change was studied and confirmed using contact angle method. The anionic fabric treated with hydrogel showed a better pH‐responsiveness. Scanning electron microscopic testing results has also confirmed that the deposition of hydrogel was clearly better with the anionic activation. The characteristics of breathability of the fabrics were analyzed. The results show that the moisture management behavior of the finished materials is significantly better than the control one. Although the permeability to air has reduced by 10%, the permeability to water vapor remained practically unchanged. Furthermore, the effects of the antibacterial finishing on the physical properties of the cotton fabrics were also investigated. It was established that the functionalized samples have changed structure parameters, thickness, air permeability, tensile strength, and resistance to wrinkles. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. In this paper we report on recent results from our group, namely on the interface ionic liquid/electrode, plasma electrochemistry and electrodeposition of selenium and of macroporous structures. Ionic liquids show an interesting and liquid dependent surface chemistry: in some liquids the long range “herringbone” superstructure of Au(1 1 1) is visible, in others it is not. Glow discharge plasmas can be employed as a contact free electrode to make nanoparticles in solutions, e.g. nanoparticles of germanium. Selenium can be electrodeposited from ionic liquids under environmental conditions in an open cell and both the red and the grey phases of selenium are feasible. With the help of self organized opal structures of polystyrene spheres macroporous materials of Ag, Al and conducting polymers can be made. The prospects and limits of ionic liquids in surface electrochemistry and electrodeposition are shortly discussed.  相似文献

Breast cancer (BC) is the most predominant type of cancer among women. The aim of this study is to find new biomarkers that can help in early detection of BC, especially for those who are too young to be screened using mammography as per guidelines. Using microRNA microarray, we previously showed dysregulation of 74 microRNAs in tumors from early BC patients as compared with normal adjacent tissues, which we were interested in studying in blood circulation. In this study, we investigated the expression of 12 microRNA (miR-21/miR-155/miR-23a/miR-130a/miR-145/miR-425-5p/miR-139-5p/miR-451/miR-195/miR-125b/miR-100, and miR-182) in the plasma of 41 newly diagnosed Lebanese BC patients with early invasive ductal carcinoma as compared with 32 healthy controls. Total RNA was extracted from plasma, and expression levels of miRNA of interest were measured using RT-qPCR followed by statistical analysis; miR-21, miR-155, miR-23a, miR-130a, miR-145, miR-425-5p, and miR-139-5p were significantly upregulated and miR-451 was significantly downregulated, in the plasma of BC patients as compared with healthy controls. The positively correlated miR-23a, miR-21, and miR-130a had a high diagnostic accuracy (86%). Importantly, the combination of miR-145/miR-425-5p/miR-139-5p/miR-130a scored the highest diagnostic accuracy of 95% with AUC = 0.97 (sensitivity 97% and specificity 91%). MicroRNAs are promising non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers for early-stage BC with the panel of miR-145/miR-425-5p/miR-139-5p/miR-130a having the highest diagnostic accuracy.  相似文献

Tin antimony sulfide (TAS) is one of the most promising compounds for the next generation of optoelectronic and thin film photovoltaic devices. TAS material was synthesized by a solid-state reaction using earth-abundant tin, antimony and sulfur elements. The structural properties of the TAS powder were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and selected electron diffraction (SAED) were employed to establish the crystalline nature of the powder. The TEM observations demonstrated that the powder was polycrystalline in nature with rod-shaped structure. The effects of excimer laser annealing (ELA) at different pulse energies on the structural, morphological and optical properties of thermally evaporated TAS films were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy measurements showed that the films annealed by an excimer laser of 248 nm were amorphous for weak energy densities whereas the sample irradiated with 111 mJ/cm??2 was polycrystalline with a preferential \({\text{(}}\overline {{\text{2}}} {\text{1}}\overline {{\text{3}}} {\text{)}}\) orientation. The ELA effects on the optical properties were also studied in the wavelength range 300–1800 nm by using UV–Vis–NIR spectroscopy. The absorption coefficient of all samples in the fundamental absorption region is higher than 104 cm?1. We also found that the optical band gap decreases from 2.04 to 1.84 eV after irradiating the thin films under different laser energy densities.  相似文献
