In this work we investigate a new graph coloring constructive hyper-heuristic for solving examination timetabling problems. We utilize the hierarchical hybridizations of four low level graph coloring heuristics, these being largest degree, saturation degree, largest colored degree and largest enrollment. These are hybridized to produce four ordered lists. For each list, the difficulty index of scheduling the first exam is calculated by considering its order in all lists to obtain a combined evaluation of its difficulty. The most difficult exam to be scheduled is scheduled first (i.e. the one with the minimum difficulty index). To improve the effectiveness of timeslot selection, a?roulette wheel selection mechanism is included in the algorithm to probabilistically select an appropriate timeslot for the chosen exam. We test our proposed approach on the most widely used un-capacitated Carter benchmarks and also on the recently introduced examination timetable dataset from the 2007 International Timetabling Competition. Compared against other methodologies, our results demonstrate that the graph coloring constructive hyper-heuristic produces good results and outperforms other approaches on some of the benchmark instances.  相似文献

CaCu3Ti4O12 electroceramic was prepared by a microwave assisted solid-state reaction technique from CaCO3, CuO and TiO2 powders. Processing involved the preparation of raw material, mixing and milling, calcination, pellet forming and sintering processes. Conventional furnace and microwave assisted sintering processes were employed in order to improve phase structures, morphology and dielectric properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics. Surface and fracture FESEM analysis showed that the microwave assisted sintered CaCu3Ti4O12 produced better densification and more uniform grain size compared to the conventional sintered sample.  相似文献

Impedance analyses was performed on undoped and Nb-doped CaCu3Ti4O12 (CaCu3Ti4−xNbxO12+x/2; x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.1) to investigate their electrical properties. The pellet samples were prepared using the solid state reaction method. Silver electrode was deposited on both pellets’ surfaces for electrical measurement. The thermally etched samples showed tiny bumped domains within the grains. The existence of both domain and grain boundaries are believed to strongly influence the dielectric constant of CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO). Undoped CCTO showed two arcs of impedance complex plane while Nb-doped samples have three arcs. Each arc represents the constituent elements of the CCTO. The highest frequency arc is evidence that CCTO consists of conductive domains which measure about 1 Ω and are insulated by two types of barriers, i.e. domain boundary and grain boundary.  相似文献

Mesoporous-activated carbon was prepared from fallen coconut (Cocos nucifera) leaf, an agricultural waste through a microwave-induced H3PO4 activation process. The characterization of the coconut leaf–activated carbon (CAC) was evaluated through the iodine number, ash content, bulk density, and moisture content. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, X-ray diffraction, and pHPZC. CAC has a mesopore content of 84% with an average pore size of 36.5?Å and a large BET surface area of 632?m2/g. The uptake properties of the CAC with methylene blue was evaluated at different CAC dosage levels (0.2–10?g/L), initial pH (3–10), methylene blue concentration (50–350?mg/L), and time (0–360?min) using batch mode operation. The kinetic profiles were described by the pseudo-second-order kinetics. The equilibrium data were well fitted to the Langmuir model with a maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 250?mg/g at 30°C. Thermodynamic functions indicate a spontaneous and exothermic nature of the adsorption process. This study indicates that coconut leaves are a promising renewable precursor that can be utilized to develop an efficient mesoporous-activated carbon.  相似文献

Cement-based ceramic pellets were prepared and their properties were studied for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications. The shielding materials were made of Portland cement with the addition of different concentrations of manganese oxide (MnO2) up to 10 wt%. The pellets were sintered at 850 °C for 5 h and then polished prior to characterizations of density, porosity, microstructures, dielectric properties, and EMI shielding effectiveness (SE). Results show that the MnO2-cement pellets have good dielectric properties, i.e. high dielectric constant (∼300) and low dielectric loss (<0.3). The dielectric constant increased with increasing MnO2 content in the cement matrix. The SE values of the MnO2-cements fluctuated between 2 dB and 9 dB in the frequency range of 8-13 GHz. The sample with 10 wt% MnO2 additive had SE values of up to 9 dB. Most of the samples with high additive concentrations produced SE exceeding 7 dB.  相似文献

An 850-nm-thick CuAlO2 film was formed by solid state reaction of evaporated thin film Cu on c-cut Al2O3 (sapphire) at 1200 °C for reaction times as short as 10 min. X-ray diffractogram confirms the formation of (0 0 l) CuAlO2, indicating oriented growth of CuAlO2 on c-cut Al2O3. Fourier transformation infra-red (FTIR) spectra showed peaks corresponding to Cu-O, Al-O and O-Cu-O bonds, confirming further the CuAlO2 phase formation. UV-visible spectrum measurement showed high transparency of the film in the visible region with a direct band gap of 3.25 eV. The mechanism of the formation of the film is discussed.  相似文献

Population based algorithms are generally better at exploring a search space than local search algorithms (i.e. searches based on a single heuristic). However, the limitation of many population based algorithms is in exploiting the search space. We propose a population based Local Search (PB-LS) heuristic that is embedded within a local search algorithm (as a mechanism to exploit the search space). PB-LS employs two operators. The first is applied to a single solution to determine the force between the incumbent solution and the trial current solution (i.e. a single direction force), whilst the second operator is applied to all solutions to determine the force in all directions. The progress of the search is governed by these forces, either in a single direction or in all directions. Our proposed algorithm is able to both diversify and intensify the search more effectively, when compared to other local search and population based algorithms. We use university course timetabling (Socha benchmark datasets) as a test domain. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of PB-LS, we perform a comparison between the performances of PB-LS with other approaches drawn from the scientific literature. Results demonstrate that PB-LS is able to produce statistically significantly higher quality solutions, outperforming many other approaches on the Socha dataset.  相似文献

Some researchers formerly provided the mechanical, physical, and attenuation properties of the fabricated EremurusRhizophora spp. particleboard phantom. In this study, the percentage depth dose (PDD) and the half value layer (HVL) of fabricated EremurusRhizophora spp. particleboard phantom were determined and compared with those of Perspex and water phantoms, with the same standard phantom size (30 cm?×?30 cm?×?30 cm) in the diagnostic energy range using TLD 100H. In addition, the energy range of X-ray was in diagnostic range of energy. The results indicated that the PDD and HVL of the fabricated EremurusRhizophora spp. particleboard phantom were close to those of the Perspex phantom. Likewise, the PDD and HVL of the fabricated EremurusRhizophora spp. particleboard phantom were found in good agreement with those of water phantom. According to the results of this study, the fabricated EremurusRhizophora spp. particleboard phantom can be used as medical phantoms.  相似文献

To determine if hemoglobin E trait influences the course of acute malaria, adults hospitalized for the treatment of symptomatic infection with Plasmodium falciparum were studied retrospectively. Forty-two patients with hemoglobin E trait were compared with 175 reference subjects who did not have hemoglobin E, beta-thalassemia, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or alpha-thalassemia. One patient (2.4%) with hemoglobin E trait had a severe complication of malaria by World Health Organization criteria (cerebral malaria), while 32 subjects in the reference group (18.3%) had one or more severe complications: cerebral malaria (n=18), hyperparasitemia (n=16), renal failure (n=10), and severe anemia (n=1) (P=.044 after adjustment for ethnic categories). The estimated odds of severe complications in the reference subjects were 6.9 times the odds in patients with hemoglobin E trait (95% confidence interval, 1.2-146. 4). These results suggest that hemoglobin E trait may ameliorate the course of acute falciparum malaria.  相似文献
