A total of six cows, divided into 3 groups, were fed various amounts of rape cake containing 6 g of goitrin/kg over a period of 7 days. The cows were milked twice a day and the goitrin content of the heated milk samples were determined by a HPLC-method within 2 h. When rape cake was fed at 0.39, 1.9 and 3.9% resp. of the total feed this resulted in medium goitrin values of 37, 163 and 707 micrograms/l milk. These values correspond to a transfer of about 0.1% of the original progoitrin content in the feed. 12 h after the last rape feeding the amount of goitrin in the milk was below the detection limit of 7 ppb. The toxicological significance of these findings are dicussed.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To review the clinical presentation, treatment, and outcome in a series of children with ovarian neoplasms. DESIGN: A retrospective review of the medical records in a case series of 29 girls with ovarian neoplasms. The length of follow-up ranged from 6 months to 7 1/2 years and averaged 3.0 years in the girls with malignant tumors. SETTING: The patients were treated at a large referral children's hospital. PATIENTS: Twenty-nine girls with ovarian neoplasms were treated from 1976 to 1992. The average age of the patients was 10 years and ranged from 2 to 16 years. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The principal outcomes examined were mortality and surgical morbidity. RESULTS: The most common presenting symptoms for these ovarian tumors in pediatric patients included chronic abdominal pain, an abdominal mass, or distention. Three girls presented with precocious puberty or hirsutism. In 27 cases, the tumor was a primary ovarian lesion. In two patients, the ovarian mass was the presenting finding for a stage IV non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Seventeen tumors were benign and 12 were malignant. Tumors originating from the germ-cell line predominated (n = 17). Seven of the 10 ovarian malignant neoplasms were stage I at the time of diagnosis. All but one of the girls with malignant tumors received either adjunctive radiation therapy or multiple-agent chemotherapy. Two girls with sex cord/stromal cell tumors who presented with stage I disease ultimately developed widespread metastases. Both girls with large epithelial tumors survived. All of the girls with benign tumors and seven (70%) of 10 with malignant lesions survived. CONCLUSION: Ovarian tumors are unusual lesions in the pediatric population. Unlike in adults, such neoplasms generally originate from the germ-cell line. Whereas most ovarian tumors in girls are benign, some children have malignant tumors that are very aggressive and do not respond well to adjuvant therapy. In particular, malignant sex cord/stromal cell tumors, even when they present at an early stage, may behave unpredictably.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and reproducible high-performance liquid chromatographic assay for cisapride and norcisapride in human plasma is described. Samples of plasma (150 microl) were extracted using a C18 solid-phase cartridge. Regenerated tubes were eluted with 1.0 ml of methanol, dried, redissolved in 150 microl of methanol and injected. Chromatography was performed at room temperature by pumping acetonitrile-methanol-0.015 M phosphate buffer pH 2.2-2.3 (680:194:126, v/v/v) at 0.8 ml/min through a C18 reversed-phase column. Cisapride, norcisapride and internal standard were detected by absorbance at 276 nm and were eluted at 4.3, 5.3 and 8.1 min, respectively. Calibration plots in plasma were linear (r>0.998) from 10 to 150 ng/ml. Intraday precisions for cisapride and norcisapride were 3.3% and 5.4%, respectively. Interday precisions for cisapride and norcisapride were 9.6% and 9.0%, respectively. Drugs used which might be coadministered were tested for interference.  相似文献

Light scattering has proved itself an efficient technique to determine particle diameters in heterogeneous dilute dispersions in the micrometer range. Extrusion of polymer blends is expected to give rise to very small particles, typically in the range from hundreds of nanometers to tens of micrometers. A light scattering device developed in our laboratory has been used to study the morphology of polymer blends obtained in a twin‐screw extruder. The main advantage of this technique is the immediate response obtained without any surface or interface modification that can occur during the sample preparation by using more conventional techniques like electron microscopy. To show the possible applications of this light scattering device, preliminary tests have been carried out. First, we present a comparison between experimental measurements and theoretical results for dilute systems. Second, we have investigated the effect of shear flow on the droplet deformation. Finally, we have studied the variations of the light scattering pattern for a reactive blend.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung In Rohextrakten von 18Penicillium camemberti- und 6P. roqueforti-Stämmen, die als Reifungsorganismen bei der Schimmelkäseproduktion in Schweizer Käsereien eingesetzt werden, wurde das mutagene Potential mit Hilfe des Ames-Testes bestimmt. In keinem der geprüften Extrakte konnte eine mutagene Aktivität festgestellt werden. Roquefortin, ein in Blauschimmelkäsen nachweisbares Mykotoxin vonP. roqueforti, erwies sich im Ames-Test als nicht mutagen. Die ermittelten Resultate ergaben keine Anhaltspunkte für genotoxische Effekte durch die Konsumation von schimmelgereiftem Käse.

Summary We tested the mutagenic potential of crude extracts of 18 strains ofPenicillium camemberti- and 6 strains ofP. roqueforti, which are used commercially in the production of mould ripened cheese in Switzerland. No mutagenic activity could be detected in any of the extracts. Roquefortine, a mycotoxin ofP. roqueforti, often found in Blue cheese, was negative in the Amestest. The results obtained do not lead reasons for experting undesired long term effects from the consumption of mould ripened cheese.

This paper investigates the modeling of styrene free radical polymerization in two different types of microreactor. A multiphysics model which simultaneously takes into account the hydrodynamics, thermal and mass transfer (convection, diffusion and chemical reaction) is proposed. The set of partial differential equations resulting from the model is solved with the help of the finite elements method either in a 2D or a 3D approach. The different modeled microreactors are on one hand an interdigital multilamination microreactor with a large focusing section, and on the other hand a simple T-junction followed by a straight tube with three different radii. The results are expressed in terms of reactor temperature, polydispersity index, number-average degree of polymerization and monomer conversion for different values of the chemical species diffusion coefficient. It was found that the 2D approach gives the same results as the 3D approach but allows to dramatically reduce the computing time. Despite the heat released by the polymerization reaction, it was found that the thermal transfer in such microfluidic devices is high enough to ensure isothermal conditions. Concerning the polydispersity index, the range of diffusion coefficients over which the polydispersity index can be maintained close to the theoretical value for ideal conditions increases as the tube reactor radius decreases. The interdigital multilamination microreactor was found to act as a tubular reactor of 0.78 mm ID but with a shorter length. This underlines that the use of microfluidic devices can lead to a better control of polymerization reactions.  相似文献

A bipolar filter press-type electrically rechargeable Zn/O2 battery has been developed. Reticulated copper foam served as substrate for the zinc deposit on the anodic side, and La0.6Ca0.4CoO3-catalysed bifunctional oxygen electrodes were used on the cathodic side of the cells. The 100cm2 unit cell had an open circuit voltage of 1.4V (O2) in moderately alkaline electrolyte. The open circuit voltage and the peak power measured for a stack containing seven cells were sim 10V and sim 90W, respectively. The current-potential behaviour was determined as a function of the number of bipolar cells, and the maximum discharge capacity was determined at different discharge rates.  相似文献

Mesangial cells (MC) are a main target of natriuretic peptides in the kidney and are thought to play a role in regulating glomerular filtration rate. We examined the influence of cGMP-generating (i.e. guanosine 3',5'-cyclicmonophosphate) peptides on membrane voltages (Vm) of rat MC by using the fast whole-cell patch-clamp technique. The cGMP-generating peptides were tested at maximal concentrations ranging from 140 to 300 nmol/l. Whereas human CNP (C natriuretic peptide), rat guanylin and human uroguanylin had no significant effect on Vm these cells, human BNP (brain natriuretic peptide), rat CDD/ANP-99-126 (cardiodilatin/atrial natriuretic peptide) and rat CDD/ANP-95-126 (urodalatin) hyperpolarized Vm significantly by 1.6 +/- 0.4 mV (BNP, n=8), 3.7 +/- 0.3 mV (CDD/ANP-99-126, n=25) and 2.8 +/- 0.4 mV (urodilatin, n=9), respectively. The half-maximally effective concentration (EC50) for the latter two was around 400 pmol/l each. This hyperpolarization could be mimicked with 0.5 mmol/l 8-bromo-guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (8-Br-cGMP) and was blocked by 5 mmol/l Ba2+. The K+ channel blocker 293 B (100 micromol/l) depolarized basal Vm by 4.3 +/- 0.4 mV (n=8), but failed to inhibit the hyperpolarization induced by CDD/ANP-99-126 (160 nmol/l) (n=8). The K+ channel opener cromakalim (10 micromol/l) neither influenced basal Vm nor altered the hyperpolarization induced by 160 nmol/l CDD/ANP-99-126 (n=8). Adenosine (100 micromol/l) hyperpolarized Vm by 13.4 +/- 1.3 mV (n=16). At 100 micromol/l, 293 B did not inhibit the adenosine-induced hyperpolarization (n=6). At 160 nmol/l, CDD/ANP-99-126 enhanced the adenosine-induced hyperpolarization significantly by 1.5 +/- 0.6 mV (n=10). CDD/ANP-99-126 (160 nmol/l) failed to modulate the value to which Vm depolarized in the presence of 1 nmol/l angiotensin II (n=10), but accelerated the repolarization to basal Vm by 49 +/- 20% (n=8). These results indicate that the natriuretic peptides CDD/ANP-99-126, CDD/ANP-95-126 and BNP hyperpolarize rat MC probably due to an increase of a K+ conductance. This effect modulates the voltage response induced by angiotensin II. The natriuretic-peptide-activated conductance can be blocked by Ba2+, but not by 293 B and cannot be activated by cromakalim. This increase in the K+ conductance seems to be additive to that inducable by adenosine, indicating that different K+ channels are activated by these hormones.  相似文献
