Investigation of iron borate on the submillimeter waves

Antiferromagnetic resonance (AFMR) in iron borate at the frequency of 300 GHz at the room temperature in weak (down to 0.1T) external magnetic fieldH has been studied. The loss in AFMR line increased or decreased depending on the direction and magnitude ofH. Such properties ofFeBO ₃ monocrystals allows to design undirectional and modulation devices.     

Electrical passivation of the silicon surface by organic monolayers of 1-octadecene

The electrical properties of structures consisting of a monolayer of 1-octadecene deposited on the Si surface are investigated depending on the method of passivation of the surface prior to the deposition of the film (hydrogen and ion passivation) and the intensity of illumination which activates the addition reaction of molecules of 1-octadecene to the Si atoms. The monolayer of 1-octadecene on the Si surface is stable and provides the chemical passivation of the surface. Two types of traps are found, namely, traps for holes and electrons, whose density can be varied during deposition of the monolayer by the choice of intensity of illumination and by the method of passivation of the surface. In the case of a low level of illumination and/or the use of the iodine passivation of the surface, the electron traps prevail, and, in the case of high intensity of illumination and/or hydrogen passivation of the surface, the hole traps prevail. It is shown that the use of these films provides conductivity in thin near-surface layers of Si due to providing the mode of flat bands or accumulation of carriers near the surface.

Increase in the Charge State of the Uranium Ion Beam Generated by the MEVVA Ion Source

The Metal Vapor Vacuum Arc (MEVVA) ion source and its modifications are investigated at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (ITEP). In a series of the experiments, the possibility of increasing the charge state of the generated uranium ion beam was revealed. The charge state increases as a result of developing a high-current vapor vacuum arc discharge from the source cathode to an auxiliary anode located in an increasing axial magnetic field. The uranium ion beam with a total current of 150 mA was obtained, U⁷⁺ uranium ions being 10% of the current.     

Design and analysis of lateral motion control algorithms for an unmanned aerial vehicle with two control surfaces

This paper considers control of an unmanned aerial vehicle with two horizontal aerodynamic control surfaces in the modes of angular stabilization and coordinated turn. We analyze the linear yaw angle control algorithms based on roll angle variation in terms of their performance. In addition, we suggest an algorithm that ensures a required performance of yaw angle control. Some simulation results are given.     

Numerical study of the processes of resonance emergence in the experimental set-up of a pulse detonation engine

The results of calculations of the pressure, flow rate, and temperature in the combustion chamber of a pulse detonation engine (PDE) for the conditions realized in the experiment are presented. On the basis of the developed mathematical model, the multiparameter calculations are performed for physical processes occurring in the working path of a PDE. We studied the conditions for the occurrence of oscillations in the PDE combustion chamber. For certain values of the parameters of the set-up, the oscillations have constant amplitude and frequency. These results are in good agreement with the data of other authors. The conditions under which the detonation engine can operate in the pulse mode are also investigated in the paper.
